  • It is so rare to find perfection in life.

In its own way i do belive "this" is one of these rare "things".

Peter Ciluzzi, please give us more of your work.

  • Um, you guys can rag on that guy all you want, but I know for a fact that the intonation on the low b string is a little off. You can definitely tell in the final passage of Abyssal when he does the harmonics. It's probably not intentional at all, just something that he needs to fix. Which he can cuz he made all his guitars.

  • Certainly isn't out of tune. This song possesses great harmonic complexity that might make someone not accustomed to this kind of music think he is out of tune. It is an insult to a musician of his caliber to claim that he is out of tune. That nonsense aside, this is a beautiful song.

  • Mr. Ciluzzi - Your maturity shows here. Pieces like this come from the soul of someone who has spent time with his instrument, and make those technical etudes that are so common look like masturbatory games.

  • @TheQuisatzhaderach well said.

  • to shut you all up about this tuning crap........ when your strings are tuned that low the when you fret a string you can bend strings slightly without even feeling it because they are so lax, i hear nothing out of tune about this at all just afew notes bent slightly in places.

  • I just wrote about this in another video, and I'll write it here again. What's with the "a guitarist of this level can't perform out of tune"? Who thinks he's out of tune? Who thinks he can't? Why can't he? What if he wants it that way, a bit tuned out, and provoke a different sound? Isn't that what music? About provoking feelings?

And what does talent have to do with being well tuned? I always thought talent came from uniqueness...

  • This, really sounds like a Will Ackerman composition to me, it just couldn't sound more like Will Ackerman... Great piece of music here, and amazing sound from his guitar :O 'One problem though - I can only view this video in 240p? Surely that's not right, unless everyone's viewing it in 240p?... At least 360p would complement this tune a hell of alot more than 240p :/

  • thanks for playing this one live for us at CGF Pete!!! So sick

  • Comment removed

  • twat kind of geetar is that?

    anybody?

  • @AWiddit I think it's a custom guitar.

  • Its made by him self his also luthiere.

  • @AWiddit Ciluzzi is a luthier and is quite fond of playing his own, Ciluzzi guitars. Imagine being able to build your own amazing guitars to perfectly fit you and your music. I'd say he's lucky, but nothing short of thousands of hours of work gets you this far, and saying he's lucky to have these talents takes away so much credit that is due to him and his inhuman efforts to perfect these arts...

  • @jabrookesq why is it so small? The guitar that is :)

  • @AWiddit It looks to me like a 00-size guitar with a slightly exaggerated waist curve, making the waise narrow. This gives a very focused tone with quite an emphasis on the midrange, which is where most of this piece is played. It also has a very nice bass response, which you don't usually hear in guitars of this size, but could be due to the woods he's chosen, string guage and the pickup/preamp/equalizer combination. Plus, it's probably just more comfortable to play. : )

  • @jabrookesq haha holy shit. 10 points to jabrookesqq!

  • Perfect.

  • lol @ 0:23

  • An amazing song by an Amazing artist

  • amazingsound

  • i think it's C# G# E F# B E

  • @whitemute1 it is =)

  • Does anybody know what tuning he's in??

  • its amazing how these guys from rpoland make all these songs out of all these tunings all i do is watch these guys to learn from them and rpolands people really show what guitar's all about

  • rpoland is someone from candyrat records not the label itself....

  • i realized that after i entered the comment lol

  • wow love it! i think this song should be a new theme song on final fantasy series ^_^ very relaxing ^_^ new favorite

  • This song somehow reminds me of a beautiful memory. Somehow fills me with melancholy, time is such a merciless thing.

  • It reminds me of remembering a memory I forgot but remembered again. ; )

  • That's a nice stylish slapping technique. It is a very interesting song.

  • yeah holy shit

  • peter ciluzzi is definitley in my top 10 candyrat artists. As youtube viewers i think we need to get these guys more famous ;D

  • amazing video

  • Not enough views, needs more.

  • what say about it? perfect.

  • Cool,sounds like a journey

  • Exquisite pacing. Some of the best I have heard.

  • JUST WOW!!!!!!!

  • hmm,i couldnt get into it in the beginning but by the 2nd minute, my heart was into it

  • @oxojasonoxo the reson its so loud when he taps is because of the mic pic ups for the recording. if it wasnt mic'd it wouldn't be as defined of a tap

  • this makes my brain feel eternally at a resting spot in the universe's eyeball

  • the tuning is: C#G#EF#BE

  • lol

Dude, I don't know how you can really "show off" with the genre of music. I mean, with Vai, you can make guitar faces. What can they do here? I mean, the showmanship is how focused they are into the song.

    They are in the zone.

  • The best way to show off is not to show off. - Gavin Harrison

  • So refreshing to see some intelligent comments on youtube.

  • Yea, and ever notice how Andy Mckee plays with his eyes closed? Now that's something.

  • Even the arctic can be beautiful.

  • WHat??? Beauty is the opposite of humanity imo and the artcic is a great example of NON humanity.

  • Beautiful, what else need be said! Going to listen and learn and then maybe one day..., I will be able to sit down and play guitar with you!

  • nice wish ! :) (thump up)

    5 stars for the tune

  • i love how he taps with his finger to get a more powerful sound outta the taps its very unique iv never seen ne 1 else do it although i dont see y he cant tap like other ppl lol but hes gotta be doing sumfin right this is amazingly deep lol

  • fucking incredible.

  • Just came back to listening to this song after a long while, still chills me to the bone with the sheer imagery and feeling it gives off.

  • Such a beautiful song, and a beautiful guitar. What a talented man.

  • His music is comprised of so many subtleties that every time I hear one of his songs I hear something new

  • can anyone tell me what microphone hes using

  • That harmonic progression from 1:37 - 1:46 is just amazing! Candy for your ears!

  • The slapping on the strings Peter do is just insane. Good song!

  • amazing to listen to on lsd. seems as if he painted a picture with the guitar. id much rather see someone put there time into a soulfull song rather than a hard to play.

  • woah, ur amazing dude. serious acoustic talent

  • amazing music. finally something i can acctualy do after i learned drifting by andy.

as some said before, not technicaly impressive as the soul he puts in it, which makes him the only one who can really play this as it should be played.

  • I do not feel he is technically as talented many of candyrat's artists but he has a very soulful style that seems to focus on the feel and ambiance of the song rather than dazzling people with pure skill.

  • agree with you

  • he also makes his own guitars as well :)

  • wow... It makes me think about lots of things. espacialy, I am not with my family and my girl friend. So, I thought, when I feel so lonely, I'd like to listen this kind of song.... awesome!!

  • Yeah, I can play better than that.

    When I'm dreaming, haha.

  • lol when i read the first line i went, "oh here we have yet another cocky youtube guitarist" XD

  • Haha, yeah. I'm not gonna be playing like that for several more years.

  • This is a good song. It's a like credit music to a happy ending :)

  • Peter Ciluzzi is the best out of everyone in Candyrat and he is Andy mckee even better than.

  • dude who is the moron that sais Ciluzzi is out of tune?

how the eff would he be out of tune in his OWN SONG!

    o_0

  • @fableofspuntales It's possible to be out of tune on any song, including ones your have composed. Despite what you may think there is a structure to music and the notes in any composition need to be in tune with one another to functionally structure a song according to the basic language of music. But for the record, he is not out of tune in this composition.

  • @timidthoughts08

i agree with everything you say. He is NOT out of tune.

  • @fableofspuntales and on his OWN Guitar

  • @fableofspuntales LOOOL thats the point right there, HOW THE FF IN HIS OWN SONG... you got it, stupid asses

  • tunning? anyone already post it?

  • do you honestly think a guitarist on his level would perform out of tune? get yer hearing checked...

  • @alrigh7 There is a slight out-of-tune sound but it's probably completely intentional. Sort of like seeing some people tune 12-string guitars so they're not perfectly in tune, just a hair off. It's a unique sound.

  • jealous much?

  • fable, all I hear is talk. Post a video.

  • this guy is good. he really creates atmosphere with his tunes. this one transports me to some wood-fire-warmed cabin in the northeast pondering the chilly landscape outside,... oh yeah...toasty

  • Oh, I'm sorry dreamchaser, the correct answer was train, think train....yeah

  • Runnin train on yo mama that is!

  • I heard you liek Mudkipz...

  • im a self taught musician, play alot of stuff sounding like ciluzzi, dufour and mckee, and when you get the hang of fingerpicking it becomes second nature, whats really hard is hitting the rythem on the strings, nnow that is incredibly hard lol, especially for someone like me with not a good sense of rythem :D

  • guess what all you dweebs that don't know shit about music...He is signed and you aren't ....now go back to your paris hilton video and jerk yourself off to sleep.

  • nice melody song with very interesting chord arpeggio to harmonize the whole thing together

  • This guy is differnt to Andy Mckee.

He isnt about technical songs, hes about nice sounding acoustic sounds. Retard

  • man...

    finger picking is so hard.

i started to work on it yesterday (im a self-taught musician i taught myself to play guitar, piano and bass)

but anywho i started to work on it.

    and its REALLY hard.

i can pick but its mega difficult to make the right and left hand match up, rhythmically.

ill keep working on it tho.

  • keep working at it :) ...

time is all it takes (oh and McKee is self taught... hehe, jst somethign for you to aspire too :) )

  • not at all, let me specify....."Way to find that innate rhythm! Love it!"

  • simplicity is no identifier of talent, after all, im fairly sure jimmy page and tony iommi are idols to a fair majority of guitarists, and they didnt always write mind bending complex arrangements. they did, but not always. this song owns folks, i dont care if its easy or hard to play, it sounds good, therefore, he wins.

  • to any haters out there that say this guy doesnt have talent beccause this is easy to play this is what i have to say to you.

it might be easy to play.

but writing music is always REALLY hard.

it probably took him weeks to write this.

  • exactamento, man.

ive always thought that the best music or guitar melodies are really easy to play, but very difficult to write. its what makes an individual song so special; when the artist puts a lot of himself into his work, you can tell.

  • hope you continue to play, and really enjoy yourself, find that inner clock, relax, and it will come!

  • find that inner clock? You think his time is off?

  • He's using his index finger to slap!? Coool

  • i love this song, it feels like im in the song when i listen to it.

  • really isnt hard to play but takes a lot of time to compose n thats what matters!! peter is awesome

  • What does that have to do with anything? Something can still sound powerful and not be extremely hard to play.

    That was a dumb comment.

  • You would probably not write a nice song like that, even if its super easy, and oh, by the way, its not so easy, try it, you'll see.

  • My god please just get off youtube...

  • its hard to play... he makes it look easy... your an ass that obviously doesn't play an instrument

  • coming from a guitarist who plays a very similar style this song does not look that difficult to play but a peice of this calibur is extremly difficult to write...and it takes a musician with extreme talent to compose a peice like this....

  • It's not hard to write song, witch is hard to play, but doesn't sound nice. It's hard to write song, witch is easy to play, but sounds geautiful!

  • I guess you don't write music because if you did than you would know that writing can be difficult. All styles and genres of music can be difficult to write well.

  • The little chirp at 21s isn't part of the song, but I think it adds a lot to the feel. I wish I knew how you made that mistake, Peter. :)

  • and it's just that damn hard to play :)

  • bellissimo, peter.

  • this guy has alot of talent

I like his music sounds alot

    lets start a fan club:)

    hhaah

  • Crazy cool song. His action must be insanely low to slap the strings like that with his index finger, yet no buzzing! I guess thats what you get when you play a $3000+ guitar

  • actaully he made this guitar himself

  • Thats weird it sounds better , Is it a surround sound version?

  • thanks dudedaman4, it really does sound better

    just put &fmt=18 after it

    sounds clearer.

  • i dunno lol, i just came across it once and it was purtty cool.

just thought id tell everyone i can:)

  • I just enjoy too much his music.... it makes me feel so well

... and Hey there dudedaman4!!!! where did you find out about that??? thanks a lot, it really worked for me :)

  • hey guys, did you know that if you put &fmt=18 after the URL of most videos (inc. all the candyrat vids) it sounds so much better :)

just thought id spread the word :)

  • This is a beautiful, yet haunting song. I am a new fan. Great job.

  • Comment removed

  • It's strange....if you're alive then there's about a 100% certainty that you're gonna die. I'd be glad to..........play it for you that is. Take care.

  • lol.

  • Hey thanks! I guess i should take extra care in case i ever die! i guess i should also check for typos before i hit the send key!

    ^_^

  • I'm sure glad everyone doesnt sounds alike. Ofcourse, then I would be famous. hmmm

  • man the tempo changes are crazy. its like an audio tug of war in my head. awesome

  • this song is weird, except the beginning that is very beautiful

  • what exactly is this genre of music?

  • i call it instrumental lol

  • solo acoustic fingertstyle guitar

  • I say new age folk

  • Heavy wood.

  • i call it rap, but you know, I'm just an ignorant american.

  • The music is just reassuring ...and warm-hearted.

  • Beautiful song! I just bought the set of tabs with this one in it :)

  • No one is better than the other. They all have their own style & uniqueness. That's what makes this genre amazing. Stop being elitists and just enjoy their music.. I also agree with cartmanisSweet.

  • This is an amazing composition Peter! I was wondering if anyone could tell me whether this is a standard acoustic or not? He seems to be tuned real low (like B or something?) Maybe i need a baritone !

  • peter ciluzzi i'm talking to you, pklease answer this: I don't ynderstand the dissinance in 2.05 %2.06, i don't see a link with other emotions you represented in this song-storyline

  • He is very good. He has accurate and solid tone. For all sound and tone they all make sense to me.

  • i love this song! i m surprised this man isn't as well known as andy or antoine....he should be!

  • andy is still the best

  • You can't say andy is the best. This song, peter's song, is one of the most sensitive i've ever heard.I also think Antoine Dufour has the best technique... So...you can enjoy each one of them for different qualities :)

  • i agree with u, dude. Antoine still got the best technique

  • man .. andy is good .. but this guys is good to :P andy have his style to play " f**king awesome style" :P

  • why are you commenting on andy? the song has nothing to do with andy, why do you always assume its a comparison to another guitar player? its sad that people like you treat music as if it were some competition among artists, because im certain his goal isnt to try to 'beat' andy or anyone...his compositions are awesome !!!! his compositions are just as clever as any of the candy rat artists and have a uniqueness to them that sets him apart

  • strangely beautiful

  • WOW. Anotine's music I find inspiring, Andy's music I find stunningly beautiful but Peter's music i always find thought provoking. I don't think he is high enough up the Candyrat hierachy!

  • ever heard this kind of guitar sound/ music before? - no! so listen to it, feel it and if u want think about it. but- dont talk about hierarchy..- not in music and please don't post comments like, it's so usless.

  • I have transcribed and performed this type of music for a long time now including music by Don Ross, Andy Mckee, Craig D'Andrea,Peter Ciluzzi, Tommy Emmanuel and the list goes on look at my videos. I think you misundertood my meaning. All I meant was that this does something completly different to the other Candyrat guys and I don't think it is regarded highly enough.

  • Alright so...my last comment was this

"i would rather learn from a moron with spirit than from a dead man's textbook.

quote me on that if you want :D"

And what i meant by that is someone said in a comment somewhere that someone was a moron because they learned differently and all i was saying is that better to try hard and make some mistakes than sap the soul out of your music by turning it into a chore.

  • Be quiet and listen ssssshhh mun

  • A dead man may once have been a man with spirit also.

  • shhhhhhh just enjoy

  • music is made to listen to stop aruguin over shit!!

  • Nones going to quote you... That's one of the dumbest things I've ever read -___-.

  • no tabs for learn all off the songs..man its so easy get the tune n watch the vidz ...notabs use your ears!!!!!!!!!

  • what all you are missing is that we all play music, wheather we read sheet music, tab, or just figure it out by ear, its music, don't knock what works for someone else just because you didn't learn that way or don't like it, or think they are taking the easy way out, MUSIC MUSIC MUSIC, we all love it and that is what is important.

  • I am not one to comment, but let people do what they want, if they havn't figured out sheet music and don't want to, let them. It's more work than most are willing to do. Just let them ask for tabs and be hack.

  • its all bout guitar pro.... tabs AND sheet music :D

  • WHY WOULD ANYONE NEED TABS OR SHEET MUSIC ?

He is playing it on the video, if between your ears, and your guitar skills, and this video you still can't figure it out, then stop trying and write something of your own !

  • If you have alot of time to devote to guitar and really want to learn, the best way to go is learn the fundamentals of music theory and then try to teach yourself perfect pitch. When you have these two skills, it becomes very easy to listen to a song and play it immediately (when you have the guitar techniques down enough that you can actually play the song). If you want to get really good, spend the time teaching yourself music skills and theory rather than just trying to play songs from tabs.

  • this song would be ill with a little bit of double bass drum

  • I agree with Cytosolic. It is far better to use the correct tabs provided than to get the song wrong relying totally on our ear. The intention is to learn the song..not practise my ear.

  • Why do most people prefer to use tabs? Not everybody has the time to devote to learning songs or even learning basic music theory. Some people just want to be able to pick up their guitar and play a song, and the easiest way to do that is by following tabs. Not every musician has training in music theory, so you shouldn't talk down to them because they need to utilize the different resources to play a song.

Back to the song.. beautiful work, Peter.

  • stop using tabs guys lets practice more ur ears

  • If you are composing for a solo instrument, you can change tempo and/or key as many times as you want as long as it makes sense. Here it makes perfect sense.

  • GREAT song!! Beautifully composed in a way that it somehow pulls me on it's journey, and I feel very at ease when listening to it.

  • anyone know what tuning this song is in? O.o

  • It's called Rubato...

  • lol why does this music draw idiots to it. OBIVOUSLY if u knew anything about ANYTHING to do with music..u would have known after..hmm 5secs?? maybe 8 that the tempo is OBVIOUSLY meant to slow and speed up like that..there u got that lil nubs?? go get some musical ears plz and come back when u deserve to listen to this

  • yea, but the thing is, he doesn't change tempo, only speed. AMAZING wanna hear more from this guy,

  • lol. ever though àbout that it might be MEANT to slow down and go faster at different sections of the song?
