I'm planning on using this to basically split my 360 A/V signal so I don't have to buy a splitter for game capture; one cable goes to my computer, one goes to my TV, so I can play without playing with a few seconds of lag. Anything I should be worried about? (read Bakteyo's comment, I have a seperate TV to use for my computer so I don't have to worry there, and I use TV speakers so it sounds like I shouldn't have the audio lag he's describing)

Yes, just got home with my surround sound and no O out for the 360. Did your fix and works fine with no lag and resetting. PS if your surround sound system has HDMI in then no need for the O in, i got a fairy old model as the newer ones were Blu Ray 3D and i didnt want to update the TV yet.

Great video, thanks! I too have the newer version with the plastic tab. I cut the tab off and filed it smooth. Now I have HDMI quality picture and rich deep bass sound going through the stereo receiver. If I have the TV volume and the stereo volume at the same level, there is a slight delay or echo effect. No big deal, just mute the TV.

Always use HDMI or component separate !

There are two problems with this setup you have. First is if you want to use optical output from composite cabel to optical input for your tritton or turtle surround headphones, or any surround system you have and HDMI for video, you can to this but with a one second lag between sound and picture.

And second thing is, HDMI and component together will cause xbox360 reset every time you change input on you TV from HDMI to anything else, antenna or DVD.

@Mrapplesauceinpie I solved lag problem. I have a LG 42LW4500 LED 3D. And problem was with labeling a TV input where xbox360 was conected. It is HDMI in my case, and first i labeled it as Game (you choose that from Tv menu).I went to LG forum. And I found there a information, that for conoles a proper labeling is PC. so I changed a label from Game to PC and voila, the LAG is completely gone. As you see problem was in TV, neither xbox360 or HDMI od optical output, just my TV.

This is a better way than buying a third party adapter. They are cheaply made and reviews are hit and miss on quality. If you want the most reliable gonna work method. Do this its cheaper and quality of build is better than what you're gonna get third party. At least this way you get an actual microsoft product.

In your screen settings, it says something like "PC/AV Mode", Make sure this is toggled on AV, otherwise it WON'T work!
