FYI for anyone who doesn't know: Neil Peart often credited Ayn Rand as a major influence on his lyrics. "2112" is pretty much based directly on her novel "Anthem". Ron Paul (also strongly influenced by the writings of Ayn Rand -- enough that he named his son after her) has often given praise to Rush and I don't know but I'm guessing Neil Peart probably is a fan of Ron Paul.

If anyone can help, I was looking in to purchasing Rush Sector 2 off amazon. I noticed that A farewell to kings is a DVD version of the album. Help would be appreciated.

@Kagomai15 Im not from canada but i love RUSH! seen them live six times starting in 78. it amazes me how loud and crystal clear it is!! and theres only three guys up there! They are awesome still!!

For the better part of 40 years, Rush has been a musical giant.
Goes to show that good music stands the test of time...as opposed to what is just popular.
those people they havent dined on Honey Dew like us,whilst drinking the milk of Paradise while riding on the passage to Bangkok as we observe the struggle of The Tree's.Those people have not yet stared out into the Hemispheres while speeding in the Red Barchetta as fast as we can out of the subdivisions like we have.Hopefully they heed our Early Distant Warning and start listening to the Natural Science that is Rush which allows people to become closer to their Hearts that is Rush
i heard of rush when i was 13 and im 17 now and they are deff my favorite band and whenever i try to show my friends their songs they listen to a min of it and turn it off and start trying to have me listen to some lil wayne shit and it really pisses me off that my generation cant appreiciate good quality music and just want something catchy
@coolskullz I know it's hard at your age to stand up for the music you like with all the pressure you get from your friends but stay strong and who cares what they think! Most music they try and get you kids to listen to now has no soul and is "sung" by people that can't sing for shit. Make sure you listen to The Beatles and The Rolling Stones as well! These bands are good to get your rock and roll basics from. Don't listen to the radio, youtube it and you''ll find all sorts of GREAT music.
@Johnnywhamo no truer words have ever been spoken, im young and my friends pressure me but i always stay true to rock and never listen to those overly autotuned hiphop/rapsters that they say is "good"
@coolskullz I know it's hard at your age to stand up for the music you like with all the pressure you get from your friends but stay strong and who cares what they think!
@coolskullz I'm right there with you man. I've been a Rush fan since the age of 5, I'm 21 now, and my friends are all into rap and whatnot. I can only listen to a "spoonful" of rap before having to get my fill of Rush, Yes, Grand Funk, etc. But what pisses me off about my friends (except one who has good taste) is that the ones who do listen to rock all listen to the new alternative rock like Shinedown, Breaking Benjamin, Stone Sour, and those kinds and say Rush sucks. (Go to next comment)
@coolskullz Nothing against Shinedown, I like Shinedown. They have some really good stuff and a lot of soul in their music. But, I'm in a band and we do covers of Rush, Yes, etc. All the old classic progressive rock stuff. And whenever we play it... MY FRIENDS LOVE IT!!! I dunno. I guess it's just the tag they're skeptical about. The tag of "listening to 'old sh*t'". Screw it. I listen to all sorts of old '60s, '70s, and '80s stuff as well as some new bands like Coheed & Cambria (look em up). ->
@cpmaniac that might be the finest comment i've ever heard....you rock on bro i just got back from seeing thiem with my wife and two kids in George, WA....can't get it out of my head it was so fine
@cpmaniac It's like hearing the albums live. They are just about always that tight, especially if you seem them into the tour rather than first stops. It's amazing how 3 guys can sound so much larger
@cpmaniac I am with you. Rush is just as important as the air that I breathe. Those who do not like Rush are hard to understand and obviously need counseling.
Yes! No one will write how they wrote! This was a special moment in time and to be repeated will/would be a Hell of a long shot.....So buy it(been there many times:)/youtube it..But enjoy the glory of it My friends:)!!!
Great videos and channel. If anyone wants to obtain computer, electronics or books in support of a good cause, see my channel for treasure trove home page. Thanks.
Im 24, A lot of people slate me me for my music taste (heavy metal mostly) but by god am i glad i came across these guys, they KNOW how to make a good, even, awesome song. I don't care what anyone says, modern can not possibly compare to this band, or any other prog band from this time.
Long live Prog, and long live good, honest music by good, honest musicians :D
Dear Rush...thank you for this tune:) I dedicated it to my brother when he passed:) He loved Rush:)) Love you and forever you guys hold a piece of my heart:) Cheers!! Love LiLSiS
Just outta curiousity...why do people watch..then post to slam another genre of music? Enjoy Music for the peace and happiness spread...stop slamming one genre or another....You prolly werent born in the hood.... You prolly didnt get raised inner city .....had you been (which chances are you havent been) then you would prolly like it...anyways...appreciate music for what it is and who it came from and why...spread the message of peace vs meesage of ignorance...RUSH por vida!!:)
Rush is the best 3 man but some other great 3 man out fits like ZZTop and The Police are great too and so was Triumph, Zebra,Coroner,Blotted Science.

RUSH. Aside from being musicians they are also...
Lion Trainers
Amateur Tattoo artists
Magicians
Stock -Car racers
Astronauts (They have walked on the moon a combined total of 43 times. With out space suits of course. Chuck Norris cant even do that)
They invented oxygen
Oh and periodically RUSH has to be "not so good". This helps to keep the planets in line and to prevent from any oceans dividing.
Not sure if any of thats true but I'd believe it.

We are located in New York and regularly play modern/classic/progressive music in the form of covers and originals.
A few of the bands that we generally cover include RUSH, Led Zeppelin, Pearl Jam, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Incubus.
Please take a few minutes and listen to some of our videos, it would mean the world to us!

those people they havent dined on Honey Dew like us,whilst drinking the milk of Paradise while riding on the passage to Bangkok as we observe the struggle of The Tree's.Those people have not yet stared out into the Hemispheres while speeding in the Red Barchetta as fast as we can out of the subdivisions like we have.Hopefully they heed our Early Distant Warning and start listening to the Natural Science that is Rush which allows people to become closer to their Hearts that is Rush

i heard of rush when i was 13 and im 17 now and they are deff my favorite band and whenever i try to show my friends their songs they listen to a min of it and turn it off and start trying to have me listen to some lil wayne shit and it really pisses me off that my generation cant appreiciate good quality music and just want something catchy

Johnnywhamo 7 months ago
@Johnnywhamo no truer words have ever been spoken, im young and my friends pressure me but i always stay true to rock and never listen to those overly autotuned hiphop/rapsters that they say is "good"
ottman714 7 months ago
@ottman714 Good stuff buddy. lol, long live rock!

RushFanatic87 7 months ago

@coolskullz So yeah, keep the tradition of rock alive, man! Rush forever! \m/,

@cpmaniac It's like hearing the albums live. They are just about always that tight, especially if you seem them into the tour rather than first stops. It's amazing how 3 guys can sound so much larger
