  • Burm- er

  • Rock is rooted in political rebellion. So is punk. Go listen to your soft rock and country stations if you don't want to hear politics in rock and for Christ sakes stay the fuck away from The Clash.

  • Anger against rock musicians who think they can influence people's political choices as they wish fuels my decision to stop financially supporting their snooty asses

  • @Roggiedodgie as much as i love r.e.m i think i have to agree with you. I think the greatest positive change and influence musicians can make..is just by making pure music.

  • p.s rem rock, i think their my favourite band

  • Commercial and critical flops. Maybe. Cos in the early 90s they were the biggest selling band in the world, and made some of the best albums of all time. Everything's relative.

  • does anybody else not like when bands get political?

  • @NYRdave your so right, im not sure what it is, wanting to appear like their making a difference or something or that just because their so big and in the public eye they need to seem like there into bigger things. their muscians, thats what their great at, why get so 'deep'?

  • @NYRdave I can't fucking stand it anymore..in the 80s they can get away with it..esp. the younger bands who's naivete was well intended..now it just comes across as disingenuous

  • Great to see them back! Can't wait to hear Accelerate - its out on Monday over here =)
