  • Fucking haaaaaaaaaaaaaard

  • i got it on my second try

  • phew, finally managed. didn't think it was going to be so hard though...

  • Hi i'm using a black shirt and what color of tie looks good on it?

  • @allenback6

A strong (darkish) color, maybe in a pattern, or a black tie with a nice woven pattern. No light tie and especially no white ties. The contrast must not be too great.

  • @allenback6 Red for sure :)

  • I did it! second try :) thanks, takk

  • @MrTrex01

    Wrong:

    youtube.com/watch?v=ZQQr09Ja1zY

  • @MrTrex01 No buddy, its a half windsor

  • Best video out there. Easy to remember and good instructions.

  • tanks!

  • this is so frustrating so frustrating

  • @dinobaby5 no it isn't

  • hey, thanks a lot for this video. I really dont know how easily this guy taught me doing this. My husband has been struggling all these months foe tieing a knot. Now at last,i did it for him. Hey,,thank you once again for this vid.

  • this is the best video there is, actually. took me 3 minutes to learn. thanks!

  • Thanks mate, it was awesome.

  • heheheeh nordmannen var lættis

  • the tie is sooooo chick.

u know how to knot. great thanks

  • Great video! Now I can tie this knot without any help! :D

  • Comment removed

  • So... no music?

  • Thank you. Now I can do my presentation in style!

  • Takk og lov. Etter hundre andre videoer så fikk jeg endelig klart å knyte en hvor slipset ble langt nok.... Jævla dressmann-slips!

  • It's hard at first but it makes all the difference. Beats the pants off the four-in-hand …loser's knot (which I've been using for far too long). It's worth it, guys. Don't give up!

  • Oh I got it :)

  • Can anyone tell me why my knot looks like a rectangle, instead of a triangle like it's supposed to be?

  • Thank you so much! Church is in a half hour, and my "pre-made" tie just came undone!

  • Fuck this... women can complain all they want about menstruation and giving birth, but at least they dont't have to do this freakin ties!!!

  • @Kilroy1995 i'm a girl, and i got this on my first try on both of my skinny ties - so i don't see why you should be complaining either - men aren't the only people in the world who need to tie ties.

  • how come mine came out shorter then the back part?

  • must hai

  • all i gotta say is the camra man is a fucking retard for zooming in so close.. cause u cant really tell if he touching the fat part or narrow part.

  • muito bom foi de grande utilidade

    Valeu deus te abençoe

  • I love this video! Probably the best tutorial video out there.

  • it looks so terrible

  • wow you people must be really slow. Im 15 years old and guess how long it took me to make a decent half-windsor knot: 1 minute 34 seconds, the length of the video. just pause the thing if you take long on a certain step and then play it after your done with it. It really isn't that complicated. After watching this video once I was able to make an even better half-windsor from memory. This video deserves 5 stars.

  • You guys are retarded/stupid/slow if you can't follow a simple video on tying a knot. Good luck with the more 'challenging' things in life.

  • How do you make dimples ??? Please I need to wear a tie tomorrow !!

  • AGHHH!!!!! I CANT FUKKIN DO THIS >:(

  • ure vgod man :)

  • wtfhlyshit

  • great video, you take it at just the right pace and it's easy to tell what you're doing

i haven't had to wear a tie in over 2 years and i got it right on my first shot watching this

  • im 14 and it this took me 5min to learn cant see how difficult this is

  • I've been trying to tie a tie for the better part of 30 years. Why in the hell can't someone make a video that's decent? I loss the knot everytime i have to rewind it because he goes so FUC(*ing fast!

  • I GET SO DAMNED ANGRY I ACANT FUCKING MAKE IT HELLS FUCKING TIES ILL TEAR APART MY DEMNED SUIT!!! /TEARED apert damn shitty i tie

  • @krillerdk123321 lol be careful not to tear your keyboard apart either

  • My favorite tie knot!

  • thanx 5*

  • tnx awi66 Ive spent an hour trying to tie may tie at my js prom

Next year will be easy to tie my tie even when I got a job or sort of occasion

  • Rofl, ties are awesome ;D

  • thank god you havent caled it the four in hand that pisses me off

  • thx m8

  • how can people dislike this comment ?? wtf i agree with you dude

  • This one is more aestetic and easier to do than the full windsor.

  • FInally, after an hour a tied my tie. I am late!!! Thx for the video.

  • Wow, this really helps! Not so tedious to tie. Thanks a million!

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO.

  • Thank you, youtube (and avvi66)

  • Woot, now I can be properly dressed for my first post college interview. Thanks for putting this video up :D

  • I love this knot, at my church, the new style is "4 inch wide full windsor knot," but when we need to look presentable, we just tie a good half windsor, and I wouldn't have learned without this video.

  • Can't make out any of this. :|

  • it all looks the same 2 me

  • That looks like a full windsor

  • At 0:30 after pulling the tie through the neck, he crosses it over to make the bridge left to right instead of right to left. I learned to do it right to left and I realized that this way actually makes the tie self-releasing which the shown method does not.

  • Yes, you are right. That is no really good but I like a little bit more this knot than the true/typical half windsor.

  • that is true,

but it doesn't make as good a triangle as doing it the videos way

  • Cool ;-) Thx

  • Since school days I've thought I was making the "classic schoolboy four-in-hand"... and all along I've been using the HALF-WINDSOR! I have learned so much from these videos. Cheers, mate.

  • OMG I DID IT!!

  • I can't believe how this guy just naturally gets dimples without even trying.

  • Me neither...

    ;-)

  • @Bullerias that was also my thought... you can easily tell he is a real tie pro ;-)

  • Cheers mate

  • yeah.. this is one of the best :)

  • are u blind?

  • No, the guy in front of me is.

  • thank you

  • incredible!!!

u see, i have these fat ties and i always used the windsor knot; my knots were sometimes nearly 4 inches across, but now, everything is easier, thanks

  • Now I can look like I deserve a job...This'll help me greatly on interviews. Thanks.

  • TY i got yelled at for having the wrong kind of knot in ROTC so you just saved my butt for next inspection!

  • very nice.

    TY.

  • Nice video, easy to learn. :D

But what is the difference btw Windsor Knot and Half Windsor Knot, at the and they both look the same :D

  • half windsor has more narrow triangle because you pull the tie only once trough the loop. in "full" windsor you must do it twice :)

  • dang you are smart with tie language

  • Aeeeee1;

I believe the difference is the actual size of the knot. I might be wrong, but in half windsor you only tie it once around, so yeah, the knot should be less thick, and there is more leftover on half windsor

  • WTF.... this is so hard.

  • @kylelandry I got it on my first try and I'm 12

  • yay I got it, a lot easier then the full windsor!

  • Comment removed

  • you funny man

  • yes finally!!! this was the only video i actually got hah got it in the first try

  • half?? why not just do the whole thing? This is just a faster way on tying a tie,but still it still looks good though. thanks for refreshing my mind in how to tie a tie.

  • aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah this is freaking confusing

  • I have court today (1 hr). Thank you for the video!

  • why you need tie when you going to be executed ?

  • your voice is saturated in ignorence

  • Thanks so much! This video was a life saver!

  • the move that he does from 0:29 to 0:39 is different from every other video on here about the half windsor. He goes underneath the narrow end and back across it to his left. Every other video i've seen would have him pull it across to his right.

  • Oh, you're right. No wonder I felt a bit strange about this video. You've got it. I suppose this demostrator is a left-handed person??

  • those who aren't getting it, tip is, be gentle with it, don't pull the wide end by the end of the tying, tightening the whole knot to a small one. instead, try pushing it from beneath, as if that scronny back part back out to increase the knot again, and re-shape it. (that is best i can do at explaining lolz) good luck and have fun!

  • very easy, looks great

  • Wow, so simple!

  • this shit is impossible what the fuck

  • let me explain why its impossible "for you"

cuz your a dumbass and you don't deserve a job

  • Bitch, I'm still in high School, and I don't want a job yet. I did learn how to do it eventually. Also wow. You called me a dumb ass and wrote dumb ass as a single word. Idiot. LOL!

  • man you are a DUMBASS

    dumbass is a single word

and so what if its a two word

who gives a fuck doesnt mean I'm stupid for misspelling one word high school bich

  • Likewise me not being able to tie the "Half-Windsor" in my first try.

  • Ah the joys of commenting, they really ought to make a forum where all "these people" can just go cuddle each other.

  • hahaha

  • I got it.. one of the better ones!

  • this is impossible

  • For years I thought that the Four in Hand was the half Winsor knot. Thank you for clearing that up. Also, I am left handed, so this seemed like almost looking in a mirror.

  • Ah, the Half Windsor; without a doubt the finest tie knot in existence.

  • agreed mate

  • True indeed

  • hmmm gravate ms adyawi rbbi

  • so simple...

  • i've watched othe videos and couldnt do it...this is the best video hands down.

  • I think I'm borderline retarded. I get messed up after he does anything after the cross (first step after he puts the tie around his collar).

  • Man, I've been tying my tie wrong for years. My dad taught me wrong, I thought I had been doing it right but I guess not, thank you for the clarification.

  • Your welcome

  • thank you very much....had to put on a suit before a career fair and I wasn't late trying to figure out how to tie a tie because of this video! Thanks!

  • this video is good. the others are fucking shit. no talking is way better.

  • dude.. thanks!!

i've tried and tried to learn and watched video after video.. but YOUR video has finally taught me how to tie a tie!! YOU ROCK!

  • hey thanks...this really helped me a lot

  • Thank you very much It took me forever to learn this

  • Umm, is everybody who watched this in the UK?

  • I live in Brooklyn, NY and I have favorited this video!

  • very nice knot

  • yes

    i love you m8

    ledgend

    i finally solved the puzzle

  • 1. It complicates things even more.

    2. YouTube is global, silence is global, english is not global. There are a lot of people out there who don't speak or understand english.

  • i like you lol your my friend now i now how to tie this thing...

  • The small end of the tie shouldn't be showing in the end, right? Because everytime I tie it, it shows... it just doesn't look right.

  • You have to start with the wide part further towards the ground. Vary the length until you get it right. Good luck! :-)

  • I'm still confused with tying this forsaken knot.

  • keep it up mate

it took me a while, like half an hour of constantly trying and trying, i almost go mad

  • Half windsor is easy but the full windsor is so complicated. I don't get it.

  • You couldn't have made a better video!! Thanks a lot!

  • Thank you.

    :-)

  • What, you mean: "Loop to the left (my or you left?), tuck the end up here..." and all that? Most people in the world actually don't speak English. I want most people to enjoy this. Thats why I slowed it down and made clear movements on a display doll. No confusing music or talk. Just look at the video as if you're looking in a mirror.

  • I always end up watching those other instructionals on mute anyway.

Other stuff = "Take it in your right hand, pass it over your left and back through to your right" ... well wait... my left or your left? I was tying it like you're the mirror and get your clubsy hands outta the way I can't see what you're doing!

Your stuff = way easier, perfect speed, nice and easy, simple movements, hands out of the way so I can see, thank you!

  • This is a very nice video. However, if it was spoken and the presenter stated "use YOUR right hand..." obviously it means YOUR right hand. Why would you be confused and have to question the presenter's right or your right. We humans have only one right and one left hand!

  • I've had to reference this video three times over the last year. Videos like these makes youtube great.

  • I agree. Thank God for the Internet.

  • Why is it that tying a "Half Windsor" knot is even more difficult than tying a regular "Windsor" knot? May be a slight bit smaller and sharper, but my God...

  • i feel that i have climbed a mountain learning this knot!! thank you so much!! now i know where there's a will there's a way!!

  • I'm loving this knot. Easy to tie, not as massive as the Windsor, symmetrical... Its great.

As are these excellent videos. :D

  • merci .. tres utile !! very helpful comme diraient mes compatriotes anglais !

  • Very Helpful....Now i can go to my granpa's

    b-day party..

  • there's a sense of accomplishment which now surrounds me...ahh....now i'm no longer ignorant of tying a tie...priceless! excellent job.

  • Kickass vid. This is my first time every attempting a knot and I did it on like my 4th or 5th try. Victory.

  • One of my favorite knots to use due to it's simplicity and symmetry. I know 4 different knots and this is by far the best one. I would recommend this one to anybody trying to learn how to tie a knot. When you first start, make sure everything is very tight before you try to put the large end through the last loop (that's how it works the best for me and I get perfect symmetry).

  • Thanks a lot, I have an interview in the morning and have never been able to tie my own tie, and for some reason this is the only vid that I followed that worked for me. YOU ARE A LIFE SAVER!!!!

  • This one seems better than the huge full windsor..

  • I agree. this is actually the first knot that i learned how to tie. never knew what it was called

  • useful

  • Again...wonderful...

  • Absolutely Awesome... One of the most helpful vids I've seen. Yes, the "Tie-dimple" does matter!

  • Does the dimple matter? I never have the dimple in the middle.

  • full winsor i think

  • which knot is the most professional???

  • it keeps going wrong when i try the bit at 50secs

  • thanks man~ :]

  • best half windsor video up here, I am having a bit of trouble getting the dimple just right, but that might be my tightening be a little off

  • thanks for posting this how to.

  • I cant get it

  • I wouldn't call that a perfect triangle.

  • Nice to know that some one actually reads what I write!

    ;-)

  • what is the name of the knot that really projects forward??the one that pulls the collar outwards. thank you , nice videos

  • Depends on the collar, but try the 'Plattsburgh' knot.

  • thank you for your response, I like that knot , does the windsor give the same effect??or does the plattsburgh stand alone out of all your demonstrations as the only one that pulls the shirt collar forward assuming you are using a standard collar shirt?also in your opinion, which is the knot that is the most striking to use when making a statement, thanks

  • Yes, the Windsor will give the same effect. When making a statement, I would use the Windsor with a thick material tie (in order to make a big knot) or SimplyJustHen's "Matrix Reloaded Tie Knot Instructions Ediety Knot" here on YouTube.

  • been trying to tie this tie for a while now and finally got it with this video thanks.

  • I must be too tall or something because if I tie these knots to the proportions they show here the tie is always short, if I tie it so it reaches my belt line then the knots always look small and puny. Do they make tall man ties or something? I'm only 6'1", it's not like I'm a giant or anything.

  • Yes, ties come in different lengths. This problem is more common than you would think. You can always make the thin part of the tie extra short, and "tuck" it in your shirt.

  • Thanks, I'm just realizing that now. I feel silly not knowing this for so long. I like the tie to reach my belt line but I don't like when the knot looks tiny or too large either. I guess I'll look for some different tie styles.

  • tuck in shirt!

u solved my prob of the shorter part sticking out :)

  • the way you switch the two ends in the video, result in a non self releasing knot

  • Is this a self releasing knot?
