  • simply the greatest movie ever made...this movie is about the emergence of America that Mark Twain would be proud of. It encompasses so much in the world of politics, romance and humanity. The cinematography is brilliant, the acting is superb and it is the ultimate classic.

  • My favorite line was when Rick was speaking to Ugarte. Ugarte says, "....you hate me don't you?", Rick doesn't even look at him and says, "If I gave you any thought I probably would." Best put down line I ever herd.

  • MisterBinx. You are so right. Todays movies are mostly action with very little script or plot. They don't give us credit for having an imagination. This movie really has a story. You could read between the lines without seeing or hearing anything offensive. I wish we had more movies like this.

  • Nail her good Bogey

  • @RRNYC1998 Really?

  • I don't get this movie. How come Captain Renault is so anal in enforcing the German orders when he's a French cop? Why does he leave no stone unturned like Colombo to find the letters of transcript? He's an overzealous pimp.

  • @leafyutube They weren't just German orders. They were Nazi German orders and this was one of the last vestiges of French free land. Renault wasn't probably feeling the most backed up just then. Also, in the beginning of the movie he said that he goes in the direction the wind happens to be blowing. And right now they're blowing from Vichy. (Major paraphrase...lol)

  • What's your nationality?

    A drunkard.

That makes Rick a citizen of the world :D

I've used that answer so many time's.

    Love Casablanca-333

  • Well my favorite line is, (and I use it often at work): "I'm shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on in here! " :) LOL

  • Movies like this are hard for me to concentrate on. Mostly because my generation isn't use to movies made this way. If you can focus and get into the story this is a great movie. It really is a classic. I'm a 24 year old male, I really enjoyed this.

  • How many people just KNEW this was going to be the line that came up? So predictable.

  • My own favorite line is when Rick proposes a bet and Louis says, "I'm just a poor, corrupt policeman."

  • so boring movie

  • @SuperPhilobeddoe So nice grammar.

  • @SuperPhilobeddoe movie boring so

    :D

  • @SuperPhilobeddoe Well, better go see Justin Biber's Never Say Never :)

  • Thumbs up if you are watching this on November 25, 1942 and cannot wait for this movie to come out!

  • @UIlopim Dolt.

  • On November 26 1942 "CASABLANCA" premieres at Hollywood Theater, NYC

  • Continuing Cliques:

    Here's looking at you, kid.

Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, she walks into mine.

    Round up the usual suspects.

I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

Kiss me. Kiss me as if it were the last time.

And the most famous (mis)quote of all:

    Play it again, Sam.

  • @terrifictomm you know she actually doesn't say "play it again, Sam" its a misconception she actually says "Play it once, Sam. For old times' sake........Play it, Sam. Play "As Time Goes By."

  • I think this movie holds the record for inspiring the greatest number of cliques. I mean, one after another. And I'm sure the producers didn't intend it either. If that plane leaves the ground and you're not with him, you'll regret it. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon and for the rest of your life.

    We'll always have Paris

I'm no good at being noble, but it doesn't takemuch to see that the problems of three little people don't amount to a hill of beans in this crazy world.

  • @terrifictomm So Kitty soft paws, Puss in boots and Humpty Dumpty and their hill of beans stolen from the giants.

  • i have always said this line, but i didn't get it from casablanca first. i got it from ninja turtles

  • I know were not original but that's where my band found our name haha check us out /watch?v=ZcyQHCNCYhE&feature=relmfu we have 2 songs up for the moment, I think you wont be disapointed. Thanks it means a lot to us :) and spread the love if you enjoy the songs

  • Comment removed

  • Whars the big deal about this?

  • @MrAaaaaaaaa1350 its used in a lot of films today because it can literally mean "we'll always have paris" or it can be a reference to the times someone had in the past

  • @MrAaaaaaaaa1350 it's official, then...you must be a moron or do not know history or films.

  • You will regret it, may be not today maybe not tomorrow!! Clásico!!

  • Im going to watch this movie someday, maybe not today maybe not tomorrow but soon..

  • @stingme88x

hahah, lol @ your comment, funniest thing ive heard today

  • i must have stumbled on the old jaded fart section of utube

  • um. whats wrong with starwars?

  • your a rank sentimentalist

  • Classic... Another good one is when Nazi head officer is questioning Rick (Bogart) and asks "What nationality are you?" Rick replies "I'm a drunkard'"

  • casablanca's one of the tightest and well-written screenplays ever. so many memorable lines. personally my favourite quote is when bogart's talking to peter lorre and says,

    "I don't mind a parasite; I object to a cut-rate one."

  • Are my eyes really brown?

  • i sqw the looney tunes version of this

  • we'll always have this

  • Best line in Casa Blanca I think was

"And remember i've got my gun aimed at your heart."

    "my least vulnerable spot"

  • @lukethegreat101 I love the one about coming to Casablanca for the waters, L: "Waters? What waters? We're in the desert." R: "I was misinformed."

  • here's looking at you kid

  • Paris *---*

  • we'll always have youtube

  • I watched this movie as our cruise ship was pulling into Casablanca. Amazing.

  • This movie is way too old for me, but this individual line makes me want to see it. Is it any good?

  • @TheHumbleNachos it's amazing. you should watch it.

  • @TheHumbleNachos This is only the greatest movie ever made.

  • @TheHumbleNachos Why would any movie be too old for you? Are you like soooo many young people I meet who think modern culture started when they were born? Try something with no CGI in it for a change.

  • @jimjimmyjames59 i dislike many modern movies because of CGI. i know for a fact that modern culture didn't start when i was born

  • @TheHumbleNachos only if you like amazing storyline, spectacular directing, and great acting. But if not then no you shouldnt waste your time on such an "old" movie, even if it is one of the greatest ever made.

  • @TheHumbleNachos Nah, not really. Way too old. You have every reason to be humble.

  • "Louis - I think this is the start of a beautiful friendship."

  • we'll always have parasites.

  • @notandywarhol lmao exactly

  • *cries* That was beautiful!

  • here's looking at porn

  • We'll always have Paris, but now it's full of Nazis, so... tough luck.

  • Porkchops and Applesauce

  • one of my favorite scenes is where Rick helps the couple win at the roulete table

  • :'(

  • @talkindurinthemovie

wrong movie pal. that's from gone with the wind starring Clark gable

  • we'll always have pancakes....

  • calabunga dude

  • :') gets me every time

  • "We'll always have Jersey City"... ah just doesn't sound the same.

  • Do we still have Paris.missing those times

  • This is absolutely an incorrect title for this video. Im pretty sure any of Capt. Renault's lines beats this out. He just so happens to be, in my opinion, one of the best characters in cinematic history.

  • 8 people missed that plane

  • Humphrey Bogart's son runs a pretty great Facebook page. Bogie fans may want to check out HumphreyBogartEstate on Facebook.

  • frankly my dear i don't give a van damn!!!!!!!!!!

  • BELLA, WE ALWAYS HAVE HONOLLULU, DICK

  • I don't come bus stop slap dick mouth tell your job huh?

  • 7 people thought the star wars holiday special was the king of all classics

  • theres lots of quotes from that movie that are just as good.

  • Great fuckin movie.. she is beautiful and this scene/song is so powerful..

In a shitty modern movie, they'd play this song again at the END of the movie.. instead, we got "We'll always have Paris" and "Louis, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship."

  • well i know what movie i'm wathcing tommorow.

  • assablanca....hehehe it's a classic

  • @musjamasha That's pretty good, but not quite as good as Debbie Does Detroit. lol

  • Haha I just saw an episode of Hey Arnold! when the copied this .

  • "Louis - I think this is the start of a long, beautiful friendship."

  • Comment removed

  • No. The best line is "Here's to looking at you kid."

  • We'll always have SPARTAAA!!!

  • We'll always have Paris <3 one of my favorite love movies.

  • it doesn't take much to see that the opinions of six little people don't amount to a hill of beans in this crazy world.

  • 6 people will never have Paris

  • "We'll always have Paris."

  • Mama always said life is like a box of chocolates.

  • Play it again, Sam.

  • @bigbonedandfey That is a misquote actually.

  • Nope the best line is when he says he objects to a cut-rate parasite.

  • Nice! I love From Here To Eternity! Frank Sinatra was a great actor. Just look at him. I love his line after this. 'Here's looking as you, kid'

  • @ thot4:

    Frank Sinatra is the music-dude.

This is Humphrey Bogart you are talking about.

    Cheers.

  • @JamesCalex

    we'll always have Paris

  • weell always have... what?

  • i tht this was the movie where mweh this is how its gonna be c mwah can any1 help me with it

  • They didn't have planes in the Civil War. What is wrong with you people?

  • Why are people quoting Gone With the Wind?? lol. Everyone knows Frankly my dear I don't give a damn is said to Scarlett wow cmon!!! :p

  • this is Gone with the Wind... I know, I got confused between them as well!

  • I learned about this scene through a friend's band that used it in the opening of one of their songs. Good movie.

  • The 6 people who dislike this video are watching Miley Cyrus, while we 216 viewers are watching TRUE art :)

  • HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY EVERYONE!!!!!!

  • ONE OF THE BEST PART OF THE MOVIE , BOTH ACTORS ARE GREAT AND JUST BEAUTIFUL

  • Every time I can, I use this line as an answer. One of the best lines in what is real hollywood and one of the best movies.

  • Was it over when the German bomb Pearl Harbor?

  • Is it terrible that Lazlo is my favourite character? ...lawlz - him and the bartender: "Yvonne, I love you; but he pays me!"

  • agree third best...friendship, gin joints...then paris...

  • "ROUND UP THE USUAL SUSPECTS!"

  • this is my favourite line <3 and then "here's looking at you kid" :)

  • My favorite is "Louis, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship." This is a great one though.

  • @Gumbypotty Man you don't understand brilliant plot, dialogue, and acting. Those are the elements that make this movie great. Casablanca is underrated if anything. Lots of young people won't like it because it is black and white and has no special effects. I enjoy special effects as much as anybody but a truly great movie can get by without them.

  • @Gumbypotty how old are you?

  • you forgot the hey heres looking at you kid part:(

  • Why do you interfere with my little romances?

  • I think the best line in Casablanca was "Louis, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship." much more the tune I prefer

  • Actually, this is the worst scene in the movie, and the 2nd worst line.

I didn't mind the movie until what I call "Bogart's Spock Moment".

  • Mutherfucker, we will always have Paris

  • I remember every detail. The Germans wore gray, you wore blue

  • 4 people should be sent where the Nazis wanted to send Viktor Laszlo.......

  • best quote from the movie: "I'm gonna punch you on the ovary. Yeah that's right. A straight shot right to the babymaker." Oh good times back in the good old days.

  • 4 people disliked this and they don't know what a real good movie is.

  • 12 seconds..... you jerk..

  • Thanx Narvain. I agree with you. It is indeed the best line in Casablanca, though for God-only-knows reasons it has been placed last in the 6 quotes from this movie included in AFI 100 years 100 quotes. What a poignant and heart-rending line. It tells us how much they love each other, insofar as their short tenure with each other in Paris is enough to last them a lifetime. But for the sake of greater good, they must sacrifice their love. We all love, but very few can make such sacrifice...right?

  • @ LUCASNSGUACHO He says..

If that plane leaves the ground and you're not with him, you'll regret it. Maybe not today. Maybe not tomorrow, but soon and for the rest of your life.

    But what about us?

    We'll always have Paris

  • somebody can write this for me , it is too fast , i will be very grateful

  • Heeeere is Johnny!

  • I DONT GET IT!!!!!!!! what da hell is casablanca even mean

    ?

  • @kburnout

it is a place, on the coast, in Africa. There should be greater emphasis in schools on classic film and books...

  • play it again sam

  • Here's looking at you, kid.

  • @JoseBaiona This is spartaaaaaaaaaa.

  • how about this one

I am big it's the picture that got small

  • how about this one

I am big it's the picture the pictures got small

  • I honestly thought "When that plane leaves the ground you'll regret it. Maybe not today and maybe not tomorrow, but soon and for the rest of your life." To me that was the best line. I don't understand why no one likes that part.

  • We'll always have Paris

    Here's looking at you kid

    Round up the usual suspects

Play it Sam play as time goes by

Of all the gin joint in all the towns in all the world she walks into mine

All amazing quotes from an amazing movie

  • "...of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, she walked into mine..."

  • Being a guy in college I'm not usually much for romance movies but I do love Romeo and Juliet, To Catch a Theif, La Belle et La Bete film and this. Especially this. This movie has everything from suspense and war to love and comedy done WELL. A pity my generation can't understand a true classic. It's movies like this that make me want to be a director/writer.

  • Heres looking at you cud

  • "I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship" a line I have known since i was 13, now i know where it came from.

  • And to think, Ronald Reagan was considered for the role of Rick. If he had gotten it and become a big star, may be he doesn't go into politics. History would have been very different.

  • YAK YAK YAK, AH, INDIANS

  • I personally love the scene where Ilsa pulls the gun on Rick and he says "Go ahead and shoot, you'd be doing me a favour" it's one of many great lines of this film.

  • it is the best line , I would say. I love the bit in "play it again Sam" (Woody Allen, ), when he quotes this line wholesale....the actress says (sth like) "Thats so beautiful", and he says - " I know...its from Casablanca,...i've been waiting my whole life to say it"

  • Personally the one that always made me go nuts was: "of all the gin joints, in all the towns, in all the world, she walks into mine"...

  • @Khaliler From what I heard the actual line in the Play was "of all the cafes in all the towns in the all the world she walks into my café" "Gin Joints" is inspired :-)

  • The fact is, you cannot choose just ONE line in Casablanca...

    that's why it's a classic!

  • Ohhh!!

  • i've been smoking 2 packs of chesterfield a day since i'm 15 to have his voice. it worked

  • You cannot fight in here, this is the war room!

  • @FliegendeHollaender sooooo close. butt that was dr. strangelove

  • @narvain

oh shirt,yeah....got mixed up there... :)

  • @narvain It's just been revoked!

  • @narvain Anything from a Kubrick movie is worth including! ;)

  • my fav line: "Getting out of casablanca will take a miracle and the germans have outlawed miracles."

  • SumNjFella to answer you question... the devil got to them.

  • americans had so much class and etiquette during these times, what the HELL HAPPENED?

  • @SumNJFella

Yeah but there were some problems too. For example men beating their wifes, it was considered normal.

However, those were better times for people's morals. People back than knew importance of pride and honor.

Today's liberals think they know it all, they do believe they reached top of consciousness in this field.

  • Frankly My Dear, I just don't give a Damn

  • @freedomland11 thats a different movie butt good try.

  • @narvain a butt is what you poop with, but good try

  • @narvain lol

  • @narvain I think both these guys misread the title has best line EVER and were submitting their personal picks...

  • @freedomland11 haha this is gone with the wind

  • @freedomland11 Wrong movie my friend.

  • @freedomland11 it's from gone with the wind, the second greatest movie of all time after casablanca

  • @freedomland11 close dude; gone with the wind 1939

  • "We always have Paris"...woooooow!!! :D

  • I still haven't seen this movie.....

  • Casablanca probably has more oft quoted lines than any movie in history, testament to it's greatness.

  • @RichNewnes This man speaks truth. Funny thing is when most people quote this movie, they don't even realize they are doing it.

  • charm...

  • Why not this:

RENAULT (to Rick): I am shocked - SHOCKED! To learn that GAMBLING is going on in here!

    CROUPIER: Your winnings, sir...

RENAULT: Oh! Thank you very much!

  • what about "is that cannon fire, or is my heart pounding?"

    lmao
