say where did you get that picture my mom would love it.
shes in the kind of things with angels and demonic seductive women i was thinking i could print it and paste it on a card for mothers day and write something like
when you feel like falling apart just remember the angel thats there protecting you
I always wonder how many people know the meaning of Rubicon. As a curious student of the Classics, I have to ask do (and anyone else who sees this) you know the meaning of 'Rubicon' as a historical reference?
I always think about it as the point of no return. Caesar could have stepped down...or he could choose to uphold the rights he felt he should have.. the right to run for consul in absentia (which had been given to his rival Pompey). If he stepped down he would have been persecuted in court, crossing the Rubicon he had his chance to make history and fight for what he believed to be right. A rock and a hard place, and the river the only way out
It also means the point of no return...once Ceaser crossed the Rubicon with his army, without permission, he was considered a criminal and traitor, and had no choice but to wage war against the Senate and their forces (although the choice was his in the first place)..."et tu, brute?"
youre very welcome. songs like that need no video of explaination...just a simple picture tells so much. Im really glad you enjoy it as much as I do :D

It marked the initiation of an illegal act of war. How you feel about that depends on your point of view.
Myself, I think a LOT of VNV lyrics are extremely warlike in character, and the war I refer to isn't the one in Iraq or Afghanistan...
It could mean the initiation of criminal and military force against civilian leaders, by someone at the end of his term.
On the other hand, you could use it to refer to a populist uprising against a token democracy, that was in the end betrayed.

I agree.
I find this song poignant. I kept looking for a version of this on youtube and couldn'nt find it (early August) so I am very happy for this posting.
