I grew up going to disney world. I would've been 3 yrs old at the time of this video. That was too young to remember much now, but I have great memories of the 80's Disney World. After EPCOT, everything changed there. Eisner focused more on $ than what Walt originally intended. Now it's just one big cash cow.
mickey totally ignored that little kid that ran up to him! it's almost like mickey was saying "dude, im busy go away" but great footage& I LIKE THE MUSIC, unlike some people lol
Cool. How were you able to upload the old super 8mm onto your computer to put it on you tube? I not techno literate and I have VHS tapes and the newer hi 8mm tapes .can you briefly tell me how you did that?
Great stuff, I remember my first visit in 1975 when I was 4. Seeing this footage reminds me of how it looked back in the 1970's. One thing I remember is when you could just walk up to the characters who used to just roam around. It was so laid back. Now there are viewing areas that you must wait in line for. WDW is still wonderful, but some of the things that made it particularly endearing have dissappeared with the sprawling crowds of today.....Still love WDW, actually going this weekend.
My brother and I were picked to be in the 1976 Parade as Daughter and Son of Liberty!! This video is soooooo cool! I really miss the Jungle Cruise ride rode it last in 1987....Excellent Post!!!
Thank you for posting this fantasic family video. This was the same year I went to WDW for the first time. I was only 3 and a half years old and still recall so many details! I have some old footage as well, I will try to upload it sometime! Who knows I could be in the background on this film somewhere... :) Thanks, it's wonderful!
wow... thank you so much for this. I remember my first trip to WDW, not sure exactly when, but mid-70s. I remember when space mountain opened. I miss 20,000 leagues and america the beautiful (circle theater)... anybody remember that? WDW has changed a lot over the years, but those memories of my first visits seem just like yesterday.
It was a beautiful video. Thank you. I love all the songs, the only thing I noticed was that none of them were there in 1979. COP had "Now is the Time", and the other two were from EPCOT which opened in 1982. They are still wonderful songs and a beautiful video
Did you know that the song "Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" was the Original song used in the World Fair for COP? They moved it from California, changing the song to "Best Time of your Life" (aka Now is the Time) The origional song would return in 1994 ...Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow!!!
You are right about the song change for the Carousel of Progress...A bit of trivia about why the song change. Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow is the original...It changed to (Now Is The Time) because if you remember GE sponsored this attration for a number of years. Now is the Time, was the song that GE had for this attraction as its own song praising GE as a cutting edge company. The original song was reinstated when GE didn't renew sponsorship and therefore removed the song they put in place.
wow... thank you so much for posting this... i was born in 1968 and i went there in like 1978 or so... this is just what i remember... it was so much more laid back than it is now, and it is interesting to see how different some of the characters look. Again, thanks.
Oh my God! The music from the old Carisel of Progress! *hugs you* THANK YOU! When my dad noticed the attraction being up and running in the fall we went on it (me for the first time) and he was disapointed because the music was changed, he's always trying to sing to me and now I actually know what it really sounded like. xD Thank you soooo much!
