I live in Japan and I've only met 1 person who has heard of Mono. That being said, you see their CDs in the stores so they must have some sort of profile here.

Maybe Mono's music is improvised, if so that would make sense, if not they mustn't spend very long deciding particular chords, notes, structure etc. There's no way Explosions tracks could just be made up on the fly, but Mono's kinda sound like they have been and thats the difference.

@fumup All music is improvised. I would hate to live under the perception that improvisational music is generic with predictable melodies and or harmonies. Both band's work in my opinion could be made up on the fly during a live performance, and I actually would be more impressed if they were. I'm guessing you haven't listened to much live music, and probably don't really play any instruments, as maybe that would explain your poor understanding of improvisation.

Perhaps you failed to make the connection between the title of the song and the themes present within.
