  • So beautiful.... gives me chills everytime I hear this song

  • this band on hallucinogens is probably one of the most inspiring sonic moments i've ever experienced.

the ground was rolling and the sky was bluer than i'd ever seen it, the clouds were pulsing and the trees were fucking alive and all i could do was cry, i was so happy.

  • I saw them sunday, when they did it, My brain came.

  • Comment removed

  • wooooow ! this is pretty killer !!!!!!

  • Officially my favourite songs of all time. Sounds a million times better live and in the flesh..........

  • perfect!!!!

  • now i have a problem: can't stop listening to this song.. i can't even stop thinking about this song.. this song is always in my head lately..

  • none of those below are very similar to Mono, though.

  • This is the soundtrack of Clint Eastwood in "The Good the Bad and the Ugly". during parts when its good. BUT THE SONG ISN'T ALWAYS GOOD. It fluctuates...When at the end they faced off in a triangle in the graveyard....BTW I am currently waterboarding deceased black panthers for information critical to national security. If you know where there are some buried ones keep it to yourself. I already know you know where. I'll waterboard you til you tell me how you know this.

  • One of the most beautiful things I have ever heard in my life.

  • this song gives me the creeps...

  • @activate124 fuuuuuuuuck

  • @activate124 But these are Manta Rays, steve irwin was killed by a sting ray.

  • A musical orgasm !!

  • Three people missed the 'like' button.

Damn, this song is REALLY WONDERFUL *_*!

  • Where actually can i find their music !

  • @icac1990 In a record shop.

  • @icac1990 Not every record shop sells their albums... We actually had to go to Paris to find it. Maybe you could look on ebay or another online shop.

  • Everyone who likes post-rock should check out Eimog. They're on the same level as Explosions in the Sky and these guys.

  • @judyg13 Thanks for the tip. I'm searching for some good post-rock bands.

  • @midairman Saxon Shore, Russian Circles, Explosions in The Sky, God is an Astronaut, Pelican, "Godspeed you! Black emperor"

  • @beanner17 Thanks a lot! Will check 'em out right now :)

  • @midairman "magyar posse", "gregor samsa" and "a silver mt. zion" are also great, but i would like to mention "godspeed you! black emperor" again - just because they are freakin awesome!

  • @Wandsock Tbqh, I still have to look up all of them, with the exams in the offing D: But I'll listen while learning, post-rock is really fit for that purpose ^^. Calms me down too :) I've heard a lot about them, so I'll give them a listen to kick it off.

  • @Wandsock Godspeed You! Black Emperor is quite possibly the greatest band of all time.

  • Fantastic... <3

  • Wonderful

  • Three people had hand spasms (certainly due to sheer awesomeness) when they rated this video.

  • where are the japanese coments??

japanese don't apreciate one of their best post-rock bands??

  • @kuribohyellowcard

I live in Japan and I've only met 1 person who has heard of Mono. That being said, you see their CDs in the stores so they must have some sort of profile here.

  • @chrisuk19yootube lol, but yeh listening to these guys, i just imagine its the kind of stuff Explosions could make up on the spot. Maybe Mono's music is improvised, if so that would make sense, if not they mustn't spend very long deciding particular chords, notes, structure etc. There's no way Explosions tracks could just be made up on the fly, but Mono's kinda sound like they have been and thats the difference.

  • @fumup All music is improvised. I would hate to live under the perception that improvisational music is generic with predictable melodies and or harmonies. Both band's work in my opinion could be made up on the fly during a live performance, and I actually would be more impressed if they were. I'm guessing you haven't listened to much live music, and probably don't really play any instruments, as maybe that would explain your poor understanding of improvisation.

  • @1legmidget miss the point much?

  • @fumup Not in the slightest. You don't like Mono as much as you like Explosions, so you tried to discredit Mono's style by comparing it to a discipline that you lack understanding of. Both bands do what they do very well, and both bands have different styles. Listen to the music, or get out. I'm sick and tired of all of these band battles. Perhaps you failed to make the connection between the title of the song and the themes present within.

  • I love how the fish swim underneath the mantas' bellies. Symbiosis ftw.

  • @activate124

are you fucking stupid? those are mantas not stingrays

  • if im thinking of bad things that make em worried or scared, the change at around 5:30 makes everthing suddenly seem okay...

  • Mono are repetitive, but at least they come up with strong themes, unlike, say, Explosions In The Sky, who just sound middle of the road.

  • @lamentate07

    elaborate.

  • @iguanasuperbike i just meant that Mono come up with strong melodies and ideas, even if they are repetitive, whereas Explosions just do the routine post-rock thing and it sounds generic to me.

  • @lamentate07 thats so weird, because mono to me sound very generic with such predictable melodies/harmonies. I would say that mono are middle of the road actually, but i think they're maybe more like having to travel on a road you've been down 1000 times and you're tired of the sight of it.

  • @fumup they are predictable, sure, but their melodies/themes are reasonably strong for a band of that type in 2010.

personally i think this 'style' has played itself out. the most interesting bands like Silver Mt.Zion have moved on to greener pastures.

  • Of the 4 songs I've heard, all of them are wonderful except that they all follow the same pattern of slowly building to a euphoric climax, which is great, but it also gets old if that's what every song is...I'll have to listen to more songs to see if there are any different song structures...

  • Haters GTFO or learn to appreciate it for what it is, and the efforts put into making the music.

  • @shiftyfob amen

  • @Dretcher that is postrock. u can find th patterns in any category. if u dont like it then stick to your music and say "i dont like it" but do not insult other people who you blame for "altered senses".

  • @Dretcher and the most famous rock songs arn't based on the system intro chorus solo ending, and then it does the same for about 11 tracks on the cd.

  • @Dretcher dude go take your shjt opinions some where else, this is post rock what do you expect.

  • @Dretcher bugger off.

  • @Dretcher fuck that! this IS good music

  • that was such a majestatic, powerful intense and yet beautiful, somehow heartbreaking song..This is amazing, this is from beyond this world..Mono is THE band of the century..!!

well..i hope you don't see this as a spam, but I thought this might interest some of you..

I found a band on youtube called "Nyctalgia"

You should really listen to their song "Lost in timeless horizons"

Breathtaking masterpiece by this extremely young guy...just give him a chance..

I discovered this band 1 day before they gave a concert here in Holland, I rushed to the store and baught me a ticket. The next day I saw them live and I didnt exactly know what to expect, because i only knew 2 songs, but...

    I WAS BLOWN AWAY

I feel sorry for you that you couldn't witness a comparable experience!
