I got to meet Casey a few times during my years in Cleveland broadcasting. He was always a class act on the air, but was every bit as nice and approachable behind the scenes as he was when the tally light went on.
Casey was very easy to work with, a pro all the way. I was lucky enough to pull his wire copy and load his sound bites on cart. Casey even entrusted me with teaching Cleveland Indians player Mudcat Grant the technical aspects while he was filling in for Casey. But hey he was a fun guy...I worked with him at WERE NewsRadio 1300 in Cleveland.
I was born and raised in Cleveland and left there when I was 18. I remember Casey very well, and I'm just learning about his death right now through this video.

My God. Those scenes of Casey before he died... I remember him on Newscenter 8 when I was a kid. And what cancer did to him....
RIP Casey. You are remembered.

Both Casey and his dad, your Grandpa Ken, were two of my favorite sportscasters. They were great guys.
