How nice and clean ADEN was. But I'm glad Aden is free from occupation. Better to live poor but dignified. The revolution turned against their occupiers and gave them hell. Handn't this taken place, the Brits wouldn't have left. The Brits had it all while the Adeni had nothing. I would love to see a united Yemen (north & south) with a young leader who cares for all & is blind from tribal roots.
Some British ex servicemen who were based in Aden have returned to visit eight or nine times. Such is the fascination of Aden by the British who lived there.
The port always seemed busy with tourists coming into Tawahi and Steamer point especially for duty free goods. There were lots of jobs for Adenis both young and old and the shops prospered selling all manner of things.
It concerns me that too many young arabs (everywhere) cannot find any work with which to get a decent start in life.
I was in Aden/Adan as a boy aged 9 -10yrs old. We lived in Maala/Al Mualla from 1963 to 1965. Hardly a day goes by without thinking about Aden. Barely two years of my young life which made such a deep impression. I hope the people of Aden find peace and prosperity again under their own independence. God bless Aden and her people. You are not forgotten.
@Bondfanman My dad was RAF. We lived near the Stim factory. On the other side of Maalla was the Naafi and the Avon shop (I am sure I am right). Although part of the local population did not really want us there (who can blame them) I still have many happy memories, the Mikado where I carried Ko-ko's sword, the Sea Wolf Cubs run by RAF personnel, the tanks, Crater. Happy days. And yes, I wish the Aden people only good things, too.
Aden is now under the occupation and colonization Yemeni Zaidi backward
And God willing, they'll come out of colonialism Yemeni from Aden and South Arabia will welcome all who dwelt in Aden, Jews, Arabs and Britanin) Death to the colonization of the Yemeni Zaidi (and immortality and freedom of the South Arabian and eternal capital of Aden
I was a young girl in Aden with my soldier father. We first lived on the Khormaksar beach road opposite the Seaview hotel. Then we moved to Maala opposite the Ching Sing chinese restuarant.

I lived in Aden when I was child. I felt like Alice in Wonderland and my heart is still there. They were the best years of my life
