Even though he didn't signal for a fair catch, the guy didn't even have the ball, not even close to having received the ball. If he had been tackled like that after receiving the ball, it would be perfectly fine. The call was correct.
agree with the suspension part but he needs to be fined more than 5000 he need to bee fined about 100,000 he could of ended smiths carreer if he had hit him in the right place
I love how everyone over reacts. the nfl has turned into bitches in pads.
Jesus christ guys learn to fucking take a hit and stop bitching...IT WAS CLEAN. nothing more then a pancake on someone not paying attetion. but noooo the NFL is fucking stupid as hell now.
EXACTLY, the NFL use to be a sport for hard nosed athletes, now any wimp that can read a formation or coverage and find holes where someone isnt at can be a SUPERSTAR. They mine as well go on and clip flags on their belt.
dude the ball was still in the air i kno my football hell i played for 12 to 13 yrs
it would have been a good hard hit if he waited a few more seconds
but thats the difference in good plays and worse plays in the game of football
i see where u r comming from because ur right a few more seconds it would have been a clean hit and it was a bit hit and he was going for a kill shot to the head lucky he was too short to reach lol
lmao too short??? hes 6foot, smith is shorter than Wesley. And you just proved my point, a slightly early hit (because humans cant defy gravity, Smith ran halfway up to Wesley, he couldnt avoid it) does not warrant a season suspension.
I have to disagree with you saing a few seconds. If the hit had arrived just under one second later than it did it would have been clean. The entire play took 6 seconds from punt to hit being finished. Near the tick of the 6th second is when the ball hits the ground. The hit was given at just after the tick of the 5th. It's NFL speed and Wesely simply made a bad split second choice. I agree with the penalty and ejection. I agree that this hit was illegal. However, Wesely is not the Devil.
Edit to my reply....I was speaking from SNAP to HIT ending. The clip leaves one second off of the actual play. So in the clip it is between the 4th and 5th second. So what everyone is getting hyped up about is actually 5 seconds worth of shown footage. Still....100% agree it was an illegal hit based on bad timing from Wesely.
LMAO, IT WASNT THAT BIG OF A HIT. He stayed on the ground no longer than a guy with a cramp would. It was slightly early, but thats it... wasnt a dirty hit, wasnt a cheap shot... it was completely CLEAN. A shoulder leading tackle into his chest (heavily padded area). If you dont like hard hits you should start watching the CFL (Canadian Football League) or maybe create a Flag Football League.
