This worked all the way up to the point where I had to drag the ringtone file into the "Ringtone" section of iTunes. It wouldn't allow me to drag it into the ringtone folder.. What am I doing wrong?
In the video you have windows.. but I have an iMac. I still see the 30 second file in my music library.. but it won't become a ringtone..??
Dude.. this is flippin AWESOME. I can now make any ringtone I want for FREE!!!! and it's pretty darn easy too! Hardest part is setting the start/stop times down to the tenth of a second so you get it perfect :) still not hard though.. just takes a little time :D ROCKUS COCKUS!
Thank You very much for your help, you have the easiest and most reliable information I have ever come across on any site. Your ability to explain in such a simple manner is to be commended. I recommend this site to anyone reading this. Keep up the good work. HACK THE PLANET!!!!
How do you do this with a macbook? I did it and I transfered it to itunes, but it put it under music, even though I changed it to a m4r and dragged it to ringtones.
I love your accent :]
Kewl stuff, though

For vista users that cant convert the file to ring tone select:
control panel
Folder Options
View
Under files and Hiden folders select show hidden files and uncheck hide extention for known files.
Now you should be able to go back and change the file to a ringtone file by changing it to m4r
