There's a difference between books that take a hard look at crime and ones that PROMOTE it. Our constitutional right to free speech MUST be protected at all costs. Documents and video are historical and may be deemed "educational" for anyone studying these old practices. Animals are not above human rights provided by US Constitution. I can buy footage & books of Nazi concentration camps. That does not mean I promote its practice. The only true facts are in footage. The rest is all opinion. Yes, I eat meat and love it and animals are my property. I love them but never above humans.

I also agree that people should be able to read and watch whatever they want, but when a video is of something that breaks that law like dog fighting, for example, it should be illegal. You are against videos of child porn. I am not against anything that is "fiction", but I think there is something wrong with the person who wants to read instructional manuals about how to fight animals.

Cockfighting is still legal in one American state, so a video of a cockfight can still be LEGALLY produced in the US.
Also, cockfighting is still carried out in Mexico, and videotaping a cockfight there is perfectly legal.
The same issue happens with dogfighting. Dogfighting is still legal in some countries, so producing dog fighting videos in those countries and then exporting them to the US would be perfectly legal.

There's a difference between books that take a hard look at crime and ones that PROMOTE it. In the "gamecock" case, they're advertising the illegal act, explaining how to get away with it, and allowing those who aprticipate to keep in contact. Certainly, books that promote murder and drugs in this manner are investigated by the police and FBI, but in the HSUS's case, they're just looking at animal abuse.

Factory farming is far worst than this. They boil chickens, hung upside down, ALIVE. Now THAT is legal to do so. No laws to protect chickens, which are very intelligent animals-NOT stupid. I even heard of pigs, more intelligent than dogs, boiled alive. Though it violates the Animal Welfare act, it's poorly funded and hardly ever enforced. Sad, isn't it. America is just as bad as China what we do to our farm factory animals.

As sad as it is that this still happens, I can't support your attempt to trump First Amendment rights. Those rights exist to protect speech which is often times disagreeable.
You've made great inroads in criminalizing this so-called sport, but the suit against Amazon, I really believe, only appeals to your existing supporters. For the normal observer, you lose sympathy because of the attack on amazon.

We must report abuse when we see it and be aware of what is happening to animals around us. People who do this are cowards that can't fight for themselves or they wouldn't need to do it.
