Too bad that's SPORT automatic transmission gear selector. DCT knob looks completely different. I know because my dads F10 2011 535i sport has the same shifter

EVERYONE! They sell the fake non-lit versions on eBay for around $60 now! They also sell an aftermarket retrofit kit using a geniune bmw dct shifter for around $399 and up on eBay. So please please stop asking me where to get it!!! You can also call or visit your local BMW Dealership and order it for $200!

Walk into any BMW Dealership and you can buy it for around $190 - $220.

Oh if you do know what you are doing then all the shifting will be left to be done by you

with the m/s mood does it downshift by its self or do u have to do it??

The E46 and the steptronic tranny itself is set up to shift - or + in when M mode by itself if you aren't paying antention or don't know what you are doing to protect the tranny from being ruined.

@olaf2046 ok thank you i have a 2001 330ci with M/S but just to be clear say i shift up all the way to M5 going 60mph then i slow down to 5mph will it automaticlly go to M1?? or should i shift down to it?

@feavmexico9 The computer will sense a delay from you if you don't shift and will shift for you.

I only discovered this by accident and then I later read about it online.

This is a precaustion so the tranny is ruined.

i also think if you dont keep up with proper shifting the car goes back into S mode from M mode

SMG will ride the redline out like a standard now, not even a rev limiter bucking you down.
