We use to be that ummah you are talking about but during WWI we were betraid by Arab tribes from our backs while we were trying to defend the places such as Makka and Medina and so on. What the Khalif, Sultan of Ottomans get? A dagger to his back by his own Arab ummah which was bought by English gold! We don't carry hard feelings today but we also do never forget what did happen!

I love Turkey and turks as people... but lets not nationalize an Empire that in it core was multinational and overall panIslamic, so there is no difference between turks arabs bosniaks or kurds or any other nations of Islam. i think its only fair to give turks credit for the foundation and creation of a great empire. I feel that is the least we can do. But I also agree with you that its multinational complexion was what made it great. It also contributed to its downfall with everyone towards the end being manipulated to pull in their own direction.

Just to make things more in order. I am from Bosnia, and the Ottoman Empire wasnt mainly Turkish empire. It was organized by the turkish tribes but by the end of 15 hundrets a lot of executive power was derived from balkan state, Mehmed pasha Sokolu is the best example of the Bosniak contributes to the empire
