If credit unions are bypassing all of the big profits that banks make and passing the savings on to the members, why are their rates really not that much better then banks? It's really not good to smoke around a condenser mic. The foam in the screen and the diaphragm will end up coated in film. if they got rid of the minimum wage, or atleast lowered it significantly, companies could stay afloat and not have to make huge cutbacks.

@azrienoch -- The Detroit car companies got tens of billions from Obama and have now re-hired tens of thousands of workers there. The car companies will rush to pay back the money as they start to make a profit, because it is not in their financial interest to keep it. They will be taxed heavily the longer they keep it. Most of the bank bailout money is already being paid back.

I used to be in a bank that is now owned by the Royal Bank of Scotland Group which was the largest company in the world at the time of the recession (3.7 trillion dollars in assets according to Forbes2000. ) They are now owned by the UK government. Disgusting protectionism.

I have been part of a credit union for a while. They are great ! And they got a bad deal out of the bailouts and got hammered and still survived.
PS. Because of Obama's bailout I got $25,000 over the next 10 years savings on my mortgage. Why does no-one talk about that ! OBAMA ROCKS!

Jon Stewart had a great idea on this in my opinion. Back when we bailed out the banks we COULD have just bailed out those who had bad loans, who would have given the money to the banks anyway, but then you have all of these people out of debt and able to continue contributing to the economy.

@azrienoch Oh yea I think I've seen that, I actually like Noam's political talks better than his epistemology. Anyways Manufacturing Consent is pretty good, except for all the talk about Cartesian Rationalism and "common sense" near the beginning. You can find the movie for free on google video. The comment about not being told to think about bailing out cities is what made me draw the comparison between the two.

It's really not good to smoke around a condenser mic. The foam in the screen and the diaphragm will end up coated in film. It will change the mic's performance for the worse, and it's so gradual that you won't notice it happening. One day you'll notice that your mic sounded a hell of a lot better a year ago.
