They have no intention of making music for gothics. Their music is sometimes inspired in the music of the gothic era, but the "gothics" themselves have nothing to do with the historical gothic era and its aesthetics. For them, it's just a name.

They're goths. That's why they look like that.

And the language, I think it's medieval German. Extracted from a compendium of lyrical poetry from the middle ages. I sadly do not speak it, so I can't tell you what it is about.

If you like this kind of music, the singer is also part of another group, Qntal, and their music is also excellent.

Whats strange is she sings florete silva in a completly different tune, it still sounds really good, ut its totally different from the original music which is reli lush!

The Orff production of the Carmina Burana is not the original music. The Carmina Burana is a collection of secular latin and old german poems from the twelfth century and only contains lyrical poetry, not music. Michael Popp's version is just as original as Carl Orff's.

Been following estampie for about 4 years now. I love their music, I play it at my pub very often. The customer response regarding Estampie has always been very positive, including people wanting the artist name and album title so they can go buy it themselves. Not surprisingly, Q'ntal and Helium Vola get the same responses. and all this in the dreary US, and in Seattle too! I agree it would be delightful if I got to see them perform in the states.
