Both bands have good relations with one an other. Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins are big Supergrass fans and no doubt the Supergrass lads are Foo Fighter fans too. Dave must of invited them to open their UK shows. Doesn't matter who opens, who headlines, its the music that does the talking.
It was a Foo Fighters gig, they obviously asked Supergrass to play, Supergrass said yes. Its doesn't require much logic to work that out. Whats the problem?
Yeah...I agree with all of you saying that it should be the other way around. Just like some years back(I think around '99)...Supergrass opening for lameass Pearl Jam! Bah! Foo fighters songs are OK...but Supergrass' quality of songs just blows their ass out of the water! But then...Oasis are bigger than Supergrass...and I think Supergrass' songs are BETTER than theirs' also...who knows why that happens....
Oh yeah, you're right. I'm sorry. They are still as edgy as they ever were and aren't corporate MTV whores kissing the asses of everyone in the industry. I must be confusing them with someone else. I don't think you've really paid much attention to their career to be saying that.

The Foo Fighters show stunk. Maybe if you'd seen them back when they were good and not sellouts, you might know that. It's a crime that they are so undeservedly popular and Supergrass have to open for them.
I saw the Foo Fighters first Euorpean gig in a student union bar (250 people) in London 13 odd years ago and I saw them in front of 16,000 in Vancouver four months ago. They just keep getting better and better (why are they sellouts?). You are right about Supergrass though, they deserve to be bigger.
Good god! Where do I start? I saw them 13 years ago too in Australia and I have seen them every chance I got after that totally about 13 times. I've watched the path they've taken and it pains me. They have traded their punk rock roots in favour of gross, arena rock. I can't believe how boring the new show is. I saw them in LA in March and vowed that was the last time I would see them. Imagine how crushed I was to find Supergrass opening for them in the US?

This is an amazing video. It's like a weird lighting and trick of the eye happy accident.
