  • GOD OF DANCE!!! I LOVE THEM!!!!

  • this is another quality work!!! she's totally superb, and he is too amazing

Guillem's beautiful footwork and exquisite lines make her a totally amazing dancer to watch, she's so beautiful in what she does that she seems so unreal and unnatural, sometimes, i wonder if Sylvie is of this world...

  • pas de deux is the most beautiful thing about ballet

  • wooooow.

  • Absolutely fantastic! It´s God Gift

  • Such beautiful legs - wonderful to see her dance this. Thank you!

  • seriously my dream is to have sylvie teach me class haha

  • I wish i could see her dance live...

  • favorited <3

  • Oh my god...the girls varriation was supposed to be my solo this year...my teacher is officially crazy, no way i can do that...

  • this film is like a dream I'm watching!

    beautiful dance and misic.

    thank you for uploading this.

  • Can somebody correct the HUGE mistake in the opening credits...PLEASE?!?! Grand Pas Classique-with the Auber score derived from music taken from the opera-ballet Le Dieu et La Bayadere-HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH PETIPA!!! It was choreographed by Victor Gsovsky for the dancers Yvette Chauvire and Vladimir Skouratov in 1949...waaay after Mr. Petipa had left this world for good!!

  • 6:30-7:00 amazing!! thats so hard to do and she made it look effortless!! the whole thing was beautiful! i loved it :) thanks for posting

  • Fuck that was so good.

  • ギエムもルグリも若い!!バレエ教本そのものの二人のテクニックはただただため息がでるばかりです。

  • わたしは バレ がだいすき

    わたしは にひん がだいすき

    i miss japan and ballet

  • Whats the name of this music besides Grand Pas Classique the ballet title.

  • absoutly beautiful!

  • sylvie guillem is my FAVORITE ballerina. then comes svetlana zakharova. just amazing how she is i totally love her!

  • Brave..techniqeu du fille very good.

  • I love that she doesn't overdo it with gimicky facial expressions or overdone extensions, it makes ballet much more human.

    Lovely.

  • lemme just say i hate wearing arm puffs i have to wear them in every fucking pice i do but she makes them look good ;)

  • Her technique is soooooooo amazing! But, she's lacking full, genuine, expression : (.

  • love the dance but im not fond of the music! just my opinion

  • lol i love the crap lighting they have given them for the coda...her head totally disappears in darkness when he lifts her in her entrechat huit or however many beats she does...

  • Big news: is Silvie Guillem the one you are judging.

It will be great that all this great critics could post a video of themselves and show us how is it done.

  • haha yes. they have no clue theyre nitpicking one of the greatest dancers of our time.

  • sometimes less is more. great extensions but keep it under control since it can look like acrobatics or like a circus act?

  • amazing girl

  • her feet kill me.. chop them off and replace mine with hers

  • she's amazing

  • Am I the only one at who hates it when they do balances like the one at 2:50? "Let's just stop everything, ignore the music, and take a balance that totally ruins the flow and movement of the piece." No, let's not and forget about it all together. It doesn't fit with the music in any piece and reminds me of a skip in a record. Yes, the lady can balance, but so can my cat. I HATE THAT!

  • This is part of the choreography, it's perfectly timed. :)

  • I love Sylvie Guillem ! =D

  • quest è un pezzo fantastico.....

e loro sono due ballerini stupendi!

  • i hate the music.

but in awe by the dancing. <3

  • Also what ballet is this from?

  • 2:12 is just amazing!

  • I can watch this clip over and over again!

    Thanks for uploading!

  • How tall is she?

  • She really shows him up

  • no she doesn't at all.... just watch his variation.

  • Legris: que oido!!! una musicalidad mas que perfecta, cada movimiento en perfectisima sincronia con la musica.

Guillem: personalmente considero que es una gran acrobata. Pero con poco arte y poco estilo.

  • Is it just me or did she sickle her foot after the lift into the arabesque?

  • When was that? When was the arabesque lift? I want to see this 'sickle' :P

  • I don't think she's sickleing but winging/fishing her foot.

  • It's not that she actually sickles in the arabesque, she just doesn't wing her foot much. You see this a lot in French trained ballerinas, especially Elisabeth Platel. It's just a stylistic thing. They're taught not to wing at all in attitude, too, as it breaks the line.

  • She might wing it slightly more, but it really isn't bad the way she does it. It's better than dancers that wing too much and shorten the line. The bigger problem with winging is that most dancers give up pointing their feet and it looks HORRIBLE if you're sitting up high looking down at the leg. You can see the foot in a flexed position and it's quite ugly.

  • oh my god oh my god her turns at 0:33 and 3:10!!!!! her center is PHENOMENAL.

i can hardly stand to watch. she's so amazing.

  • Es simplemente perfecta!!

  • Excellent!. Thank you!

  • I wish Zakharova would study Sylvie. She can do an 180 degree "arabesque" but doesn't overdo it.

  • BRAVO!!!!!

  • This IS perfection.

  • I'm learning the grand pas classique female variation! All of the relelves from the corner are killer!

  • lindo demais

  • i think the little grin she gives manuel at 2:40 is really cute!! i tend to sometimes feel like she doesn't look very.. mmm.. feeling.. if you know what i mean? she's SOOOOO beautiful! (don't get my wrong!) but sometimes she looks so distant.. but i think it's really nice to see her smile! :-)

but i mean, it's not like i've seen her do everything, so i could be really wrong! just my thoughts.

  • She's a better contemporary dancer.

  • i love it. what a beautiful movement and a music! i'm almost crying.. thanks muezzab

  • I love her,but i don't like hers attitude

  • Is this available on DVD anywhere?

BTW, his tours at around 2:10 are amazing!!!

  • I love her but the music is horrible! :S

  • Yes her control is Phenomenal. 6:30 to 7:02 was EVERYTHING!!!

  • Amazing! She has soo much control :)

  • this choreography is certainly NOT by Petipa (it was created 39 years after his death). It is actually the work of Victor Gsovsky, & was originally created for the ballerina Yvette Chauvire & the danseur Vladimir Skouratov in 1949. The music is fashioned from Daniel Auber's score for the opera-ballet "Le Dieu et la Bayadère". The female solo comes from Auber's score for "Marco Spada".

  • Thx a lot for sharing !

  • she is so amazing! but she doesn't point her feet when she walks

  • Well...she walks in demi-pointe, that is why she's not pointing her feet while walking!

  • A very low demi-pointe. Don't get me wrong: She in one of the most complete dancer we could ever see. Masters both classical and contemporary techniques.

  • beautiful

  • this is one of my possible variations for YAGP but i could never do it as perfect as her! im so jelous!

  • she controls her body perfectly, but her dance is too plain

  • What exactly is plain about her dancing?

  • I'm curious what you mean by plain? She has a clean unfussy line. But this is not a bad characteristic. So, please tell us what you mean by plain. Thanks.

  • i think i understandd u...she lacks a lit expression but i still think shes fab lol

  • é il più bel pas de deux che abbia mai visto!

  • Sylvie is so inspiring.

  • sei fantastica!!!...cosa darei per essere come te!

  • She has beautiful feet, lines and EVERYTHING:}

Ughhhhh shes so lucky. She was fab!!

  • was ? IS

  • Wow that was absolutely amazing!!! Sylvie and her extensions were absolutely gorgeous and Manuel's jumps, especially around the 8:00 time period were just amazing!!

  • i heard that she does not wear toe pads, is that true? she is indeed an amazing ballerina!

  • many dancers don't wear toe pads-- i did a summer school n their school didn't allow toe pads.

  • I lot of ballerinas don't wear toe pads. I never wore them, found they inhibited my performance. She just wears tape. I only used masking tape during my career and knew a lot of other dancers who did the same. Toe pads were actually discouraged strongly when i was dancing.

  • The choreography for this pas is not the work of Petipa, but rather of the choreographer Victor Gsovsky, created in 1949 for the grat ballerina Yvette Chauvire & the danseur Vladimir Skouratov @ the Theatre des Champs-Elysees in Paris. The 1st US performed was by Cynthia Gregory & Ted Kivitt. The music is by Auber, taken from his 1830 opera-ballet "Le dieu et la bayadère", in which the great Marie Taglioni performed @ the old Paris Opera. Ballet is an artform RIPE with incorrect credits.....

  • oh my god.

it's so hard to watch her solo here without sobbing. it is simply the most beautiful thing i've seen.

  • does she/any professional break there shanks cause her feet look to good to b true!

  • Unbelievable technique and artistry! Bravo!

  • it is stunning and makes me speechless.

  • when manuel legris does his solo, you notice more how young he looks! he's amazing! they both are!

  • absolutely breathtaking, makes me want to be a better dancer and work that much harder.

  • She is so beautiful and technically perfect! I hope to be like her one day...it is a long shot but maybe there is a chance. He is a fabulous dancer and great partner! Wow, I am in astonishment after watching this!

  • Amazing, just absolutely amazing!

  • Her arch is beautiful. And her extensions are perfect :)

  • Que lindo!

  • its so perfect its almost painful to watch

  • beautiful.

  • she inspires me to be better....she is just amazing...

  • Does she come from this planet or from heaven?she is so perfect ...

  • She is amazing. Always a ballerina ahead of her time.

  • she's P E R F E C T! but i prefer Zacharova's arms.. and i think Bolle is much better than Legris!

  • sylvie Guillem est et restera la meilleure danseuse de tous les temps!

La grâce, la légèreté, la technique : elle est la perfection!!

Vive les danseuses francaises, vive l'Opéra de Paris!!

  • i'd give an arm to have legs and feet as strong as sylvie's. she's the epitome of ballet perfection. no one could ever top her.

  • omg they're sooo perfect...love her gorgeous legs and feet...guillem's got one of the most perfect bodies in dance world ( I prefer Zakharova's )

  • Sylvie Guillem is my idol! She is one of the most amazing dancers I have ever seen and my goal in life is to become at least half as good as her.

  • They both work together like a dream. Stunning! BOTH!!

  • ¡Glorioso! Ambos son de una limpieza técnica notable pero sobre todo son una gran pareja de artistas. Me felicito por haber visto este registro. Gracias.

  • sorta makes me disappointed cuz i no ill never be that good.

  • i know how you feel, but we all can do it if we really wanted to and gave it our 100% how do you think that sylvie got there? dont get disappointed, make it make you try harder.

  • i will try my hardest, its just that i dont have her body type. i dont have the longest legs or best feet or any of that. but i will do my best with what i have.

  • you knoww, there are other types of dane besides ballet, and if you have a stropng ballet backround, you will do really well in them.

  • gorgeous

  • She just glides all over the stage, making it seem so effortless and easy. Absolutely amazing.

  • AMAZING

  • Nunca dejara de sorprenderme el virtuosismo que mostraba sylvie guillem en una pieza clasica tan y tan tecnicamente complicada como es esta. es increible!

  • WOW. her feet are unbelievable. SHE is unbelievable.

  • what I love esp. about watching her dance is she makes me feel "secure". She is so steady and confident!

  • Amazing. She appears to dance effortlessly. HER LEGS!!!

  • magnifique!!!

  • anybody know is this vaganova's choreography?

  • OOO! i hope to someday become something quite close to that! I absolutely love what she does at 6:29. <33 You are my idol Sylvie Guillem!

  • She is amazing!!! But her partner has terrible feet!!! =/

  • I love her legs and I love his legs too. They're both so straight.

  • Her and Polina are my favorites...I just wish I could see them both. They don't perform much ballet anywhere near my city though..So it's hard.

  • She is just amazing. All I can say is WOW. I'm a begginer ballerina and I am just amazed. She has such control. It's amazing.

  • My God! She is absolutely perfect and a joy to watch. Thanks for posting this gem.

  • I saw her perform this -partnered by Laurent Hilaire- the day Nureyev died. She appeared in a black costume as a sign of mourning. We were screaming for her performance. It was a way to let out the sad feelings. Will always remember this day.

  • I'm not familiar with ballet enough to judge this amazing or not,(although I know this performance was really, really hard), but one thing I knew for sure was I didn't yawn once. It's funny I only realized that in the end; I wasn't bored at all with this performance. =D

  • Personality quirks aside, Guillem is an elegant, beautiful superbly talented dancer. Too bad she is leaving behind a meagre film record.

  • Nobody dance it better than Silvie. You can see the humor she has .This is why this old piece is such brilliant with her in it.

  • OMG Her solo is freekin awesome-i cant say the same for poor old Manuel however....

    I LOVE HER

  • What do you mean by that? I thought they were at the same age, and he looks even younger than her in this.

  • Exellent...

  • I'd love to see Agnes Letetsu do this. Sylvie pretty much owns this though.

  • You can find this in " Seven Ballets : Paris Opera Ballet". You can purchase this video from Amazon.

  • She is a goddess to my eyes.

  • Sylvie is unique and very smart!!!

  • amaaaazing - too bad the music is so cheesy! lol - but the dancing and choreography - classicism at its best. Thanks for sharing!

  • Lindo!

  • wow. that was amazing!! her 2nd balance in passe in the was like perfect timing w/ his tour, and her variation was amazing her the diagonal of turns and extensions, and her fouttes has so much force!!! she could have done like 20 turns at the end byu her self!!! hehe. ok so those are my fave moments! thx for the video!

    *cc*

  • She's elegant, versatile, precise, and gorgeous.

  • Why does she refuse to be filmed?

  • well, it was ok

im just kidding, that was awesome!

  • So precise and beautiful! More at "balletvideo"

  • hes not so good yeah? shes probably the best ever, but hes def not the most amazing dancer on youtube lol

  • Are you kidding ? Manuel Legris was probably Nureyev best student. He is a fantastic dancer

  • This was very good; they brought two partners to the dance Intensity and surprise. If you bring nothing but technique at the end of the day all you will have is technique and boredom. Again a great dance...

  • Amazing!!!

  • Thank you for posting this...perfection!!!!

  • if there s someone perfect in the world...they are!!!

  • sylvie proved more than once that her gift is not JUST her incredible body and flawless technique, but rather her ability to interpret a role. wathching this it is clear she is a dancer of refinement and taste!

  • This video is on the "Seven Ballets by the Paris Opera Ballet" which you can get on VHS Cassette on Amazon

  • This is te greatest gift to this Web site, this woman has an incredible body and an impecable command of it

    Thanks, doublechatnoir

  • I want to eat him :)

  • Too much Hannibal Lechter disorder nowadays... I'd rather watch them all night. LOL. Does anybody has Baryshnikov on broadway or knows where to get it? or Baryshnikov dances Balanchine?

  • OH MY GOD she is incredible, I want to eat her.

  • Great to see it here... can you send it to me? I'd like to have it too... Thankssssssssssssss

  • i saw this on tv

    i loved it so much

  • Talk about a collector's item! Where does one purchase this?

  • Unforunately I don't think it was commercialised. It used to be given on cable channels around 10 years ago. that is how I got it.

Such a pity Sylvie Guillem refuses to be filmed (unless when she handles everything and never in the classical ballet repertoire). She is 'heartless" for us fans !
