  • So i have .10 strings cuz i digg the deeper more resolved tone. Problem is its a total b**** to tune. Any tips?

  • thanks man for posting im 14 years old and i poped a couple strings on my guitar didnt even know how to replace guitar stings thanks to u man i know how thanks for postin i can finally get my guitar in better shape

  • @Stryperfan1984 you got it man. Glad it helped!

  • Thank you!! I did it by myself after long time trying!

  • @Nukfehl Your Welcome! Glad To Hear It

  • i hate it

  • Nice video. Very helpful. But seriously in the description :D how to use a metronome. is it a joke? xD

  • @Olivere118 Thanks for reminding me. This video is over 4 years old. Changed the description. Cheers!

    Mike

  • that knot is called a munter hitch :D Q: retuning the guitar means u need to unscrew the "lockers on the neck" and readjust the floyd ...right ?

  • how can i make the strings easier to bend?with springs or what?I changed the strings but it is very hard to bend now.i used the same gauge

  • @aysat if you want easier to bend strings id suggest a lighter gauge to ease of the tension

  • @Rockyroopam i use 9 gauge already

  • hey how do i know where the middle of my fine tuning knobs are? im trying to change my strings now and i think im doing good ur helping me alot also i was wondering could i use the fine tuning knobs to go from standard tuning to drop d tuning on my low E stringany time i want thanks for all ur help

  • @jdduvdivani put it to eye-level to just approximately see :)

  • Thanks. Thatwas really helpful.

  • @DoyafEELmee Your welcome. Glad it helped. If you want to check out a new free weekly guitar lesson series I'm starting up go to: rockguitarpower(dot)com/weeklylessonseries

  • it really helped me this video thanks a lot

  • Everytime I do that my floyd rose gets fucked

  • @97Luis97 true at the end the tuning normal tuning is killing my bridge

  • @JerryAmoz You should get strings with the proper gauge and then simply tune them to whatever lower tuning you want, I think. Shouldn't be harder than that...

  • Hey!, awesome tutorial im learning :3.

ive a question, what if you have ur guitar on E and then want to change to R or D, yyou just do it?

  • What size is your allen key/wrench Im looking to buy one but i dont know what the size is. Is it standard for all floyd rose guitars?

  • Nice! But what size allen wrench are uyou using?

  • how do you set the action of the stings...i like mine to be a litle high from the neck...i have a floyd rose of course...

  • when I put on a string I dont get enough loops around the peg... Im pretty sure I got enough slack.... anyone help? :S

  • i subbed.

  • thanks

  • is there a difference when i tune it to drop d? do i have to change something at the bridge?

  • I got really frustrated with my Edge Pro so I blocked it. I don't regret doing it at all because now it rarely goes out of tune. I do kinda miss being able to whammy both ways, but I got over it.

  • ITS NOT A FLOYD ROSE!!!!! your retarded, its an original edge, not a floyd. if your ganna own an ibanez, at least learn about the trems. they NEVER used OFR's after anout '87

  • I appreciate your efforts, but please try to keep your arm out from between the camera and what's being viewed. Thanks nonetheless.

  • my guitar is very wierd. i have floyd rose but it dosent lock. where you tighten the "little bricks" thats where my string does i feed it through the end then just tighten it. it says floyd rose on it but im not sure what it is. im planning on getting a new guitar and how would i set up my guitar for drop d tuning (D A D G B E)

  • my string snapped while tuning (im retarded and went the wrong way) so my guitar was out of tune when it snapped. what should i do about the tension sins it will be off? or will it not really matter since its only one string difference? should i put that one string on tune my guitar than do the others?

  • right can you explain exactly what you have to do to the bridge when you change string gauges or can you make a video on what to do please. cuz ive ordered a guitar and im pretty sure it'll come with nines on it and i love the bendy ness of eights i will probably consider getting the eights on it asap. otherwise awesome vid dude.

  • @papadefroach u should just take it to the music store and have them set it up for 8s

  • Hi, I'm having trouble with my floyd rose on my high B, and E strings it's making a sort of muted noise when it's fretted, and they also seem to be a little bit closer to the body than the other strings, is there any help you could possibly give? Thanks

  • @RammsteinIstUber i guess your action is too low. send it to the shop if you don't know how to set them yourself. i don't think they will charge you for this. hope this helps (:

  • @RammsteinIstUber it could be the wrong piece of the bridge for those strings if so that's why its not the right hight

  • idk what im doin wrong, but my sttrings break so insanly bad.

  • shit long boring

  • ive been just taking the whole string, running it through the peg and having the little metal loop stay on the head stock. instead of clipping it off. is that ok? i find that it keeps the strings pretty tight

  • i have always left the ball ends on the strings and put them at the tuners on the headstock... then just trim em down before i put the other end in the bridge...

  • hey. you should've mentioned that if u tighten it too much it will FUCKING BREAK! ... anyone know how much a floyd rose bridge costs?

  • how can i change the high of the strings?

  • hullo sir

    if i use 10 strings then i drop c

    so how?

  • thx man !

  • i just bought a new guitar today with a floyd rose bridge.... this looks so hard to do.

  • @extremeshredder

Do not fear, its just a matter of time and experience. Once you have messed it up quite a few times you will change strings in less than 5 minutes.

Just follow the man explaining and you are all free to go.

  • i already changed all my strings buy when im tuning them my floyd rose is like really really elevated i think it should a kind of parallel but mine just goes about an inch high!

    helpp??!?!

  • @Forgeth3Bulletz you probably need another spring on the bridge, also there are some screws to adjust that on the back of the guitar underneath the larger panel.

  • @Forgeth3Bulletz If you tune E, B, G, D, A, E (in that order or the reverse), then your bridge will do as you describe and rise up and up until the action is ridiculous. Try using the following tuning progression: Low E, High E, B, reset Low E, A, Reset high E & B, G, Reset Low E & B & G, D. You may have to repeat that progression again, but it should require less and less adjustment until it is right.

  • so you're saying that the only way to keep the bridge ever in to tune the guitar in standard E???

you can't tune it for example in drop C???

    :S

  • yes you can put lower tunings by tightening the screws in the back

  • i didn't know that

    thanks dude!!

  • your welcome and good luck

  • @gematria696

Right now I can think of 3 ways to do it:

    1. Take the lock nuts off, tune to your desired tuning and adjust the tension of the springs until your floating bridge is parallel to your guitar.

    2. In stead of adjusting the springs, put of a block of wood or other material in spring cavity so that it stops the bridge from going backwards when you loosen up the strings. While the block is in place, you won't be able to pull on the whammy bar but will still be able to dive with it.

  • @gematria696 3. I'm not sure if this is actually possible but get bigger strings (bigger string tuned to let's say C, has more tension on it then thinner string tuned to C). Tune down and the bigger strings, in theory should compensate for tension loss due to lower tuning. I wouldn't recommend this at all it probably won't work.

  • @jokee thanks a lot!!

    :)

  • I can't f'ing stand his smacking

  • it helps a lot

  • What happens when you use gauge 8-38 and your bridge sinks in, what should i do

  • good camera work :L i just think this is mind blowingly harder than a normal bridge ! its worth it but im stil not quite gettin it

  • he says "cool" too much

  • great vid dude i have an edge 3 bridge in my ibanez and i noticed that the high E string seems like it has a lot more tension than the other strings like its a little harder to bend any reasons why it would start doing this? Ive changed the strings 3 times and it still has the same problem

  • Great videos. It was a frustrating process but I finally changed all the strings and got the bridge parallell.

  • i got ernie ball skinny top heavy bottom strings (10-52), would you say thats too big?

  • just use 9 cause if your guitar is new and already balanced for 9s they will unbalance if you use 10s and tune will be bad.

  • no i found out what to do, take the back plate of your guitar off and tighten the springs till your bridge settles to the height you want it

  • sometimes the strings slip of the bridge thing. any advice?

  • you have to tighten it really tight of it will come out

  • hey man my bridge down by where u have to cut the ball ends off and put em in down by the wammy bar like lifeted about 2 and a half inches what do i do ???????????????

  • Your strings might be too thick. The problem with floyd's is that it is a constant battle of tension between the strings and springs in the back. You need to either get thinner strings (like 9's) or have more spring tension in the back. add another spring or two.

  • Useful stuff dude.

  • adda boy findin that peg winder

  • lol

  • i'm moving on to the tutorial on how to block off a floyd rose...at least til my Tremol-No comes in.....hehehe....

  • Thanks lots of help

  • thanks, i just got my ibanez Rg1570 prestige model and this helped alot

  • if i change the string and the i let the guitar with any strings then i got a problem with the floyd??

  • meh ive got a mate who knows how to change strings anyways but this was very helpful.

  • thanks!!! awesome tutorial. now all i need is an allen wrench.damn. post more videos!!

  • floyd rose yeah pretty tough to put string on!!!!!

  • Thanks, alot! this was really helpful

  • Great tutorial !!! I've just setup my new Ernie Ball tens on my Jackson Randy Rhoads :-)

  • AWESOME LESSON MAN!

  • realy good video dude im gettin a second hand Maverick F1 tribal red soon so this realy helped thanks

  • Ahh, I remember my Ibanez, cheers for these videos, I knew how to change, just had to confirm what I thought was right! Cheers =]

  • You need to press play

  • cheres dis realy helped but on other vids they put sumin under the tremolo

  • that's if you want to take all the strings off at once, it keeps the tension on.

  • thnx man u really helped!!! ...also , to clean the dust off, get an arisole can ( just with compressed air in it ) and it should have a name related to "dust remover", or something probly along the lines of that, and its also good to use after a week to get the dust out of the hard to reach places, like the bridge, pickups, etc

  • hi nice videos !

but ive got a question, why didnt you lock the E and A nut by the head when you tuned the D string?

    i hope u know what i mean :D

lg and thanks for that video it helped me a lot

    cheers

  • it doesn't make that much of a difference if it's horizontal or not if your tremolo system is properly set up

  • That's a pretty sweet Ibanez you've got there, btw. Which one is it?

But thanks a lot for making these videos, dude. They've been very helpful. :)

  • Looks like an RG560 or 570.

  • Does you change the strings on a zero resistance bridge the same way?

  • Hey dude nice video,

I've got a bit of a problem though. When I tune up to my preffered tuning (Drop D) my bridge is either to high or too low. When I correct this however my guitar goes out of tune again - and when I correct this my bridge goes out again - it's a vicious cycle.

D'you know how I'd stop this from happening?

    Cheers.

  • How do I know the gauge of the strings I should use? Last time I changed the strings without taking care, I had no problem, but now I took some 10 and I have some trouble... I throw away my older strings, so I don't remember what size they were... Can someone help me to figure out what size I should buy?

  • try using 9's. my guitar has a flyod rose and thats what i use and i have barley any trouble

  • Oh and I still don't get the heavier gauge string bit, my first and last guitar which was a Fender had a normal bridge system and I used a thicker set of strings for drop tuning (I think I was using like a 12 gauge set and it let me go all the way down to drop A) but when I standard tuned the bridge was lifted up, what's this stuff about adjusting the springs?? It's just I'd like to be able to standard tune my Floyd Rose even if I get a heavier gauge set of strings for drop tuning.

  • Now, is Edge III essentially the same method of re-stringing as Floyd Rose?

  • Im going to be using .10 - .11 strings so whats the big deal about adjusting the bridge? why's it important and how would i go about it?

  • It depends on what kind of bridge you have. If you have a floyd rose and your using lighter string and then you change to heavier ones, the bridge will raise up because the tension will be higher. If your guitar has a fixed bridge you don't need to worry about it. Also, if your using the same strings as you always have and it plays good, then leave it alone.

  • Im purchasing a new guitar soon with a floyd rose double locking system and i've got 2 brands of strings i like to use and their different thicknesses. How do i know i've adjusted it right for my string gauge?

  • @rockguitarpower how do i know if i got a fixed bridge? :o

  • @rockguitarpower I have exactly that problem! I recently changed to very heavy strings on my floyd. And the bridge raised when I tried to tune it! Please help! I can barley play the guitar now because off it! Please help!

  • @Mechansus

tune lower, the bridge should go back to normal. if you have heavier strings, you will need a deep tuning

  • @rockguitarpower i want to get the ESP LTD mh-1000 FR just for the colour that the NT version doesnt have lol but i m afraid. Your great in your job though bravo from greece

  • @LostFlashlight u will screw up the floyd rose system... ur floyd rose will giv nightmares...

  • hey bro i tune down to like drop C what is it exactly i have to do with the springs or whatever can you help me out and i also like to use thicker strings

  • If you tuned down you should tighten the springs and bring the plate closer to the body

  • I lost one of the bolts that you use to tighten and loosen the little bricks (to remove the strings). Can you purchase them at a general hardware store?

  • Your better off ordering them from a music store. There a very specific part and i don't think a hardware store will carry them

  • I got a pack with like 10 different sizes, 1 Metric and 1 Imperial set (metric & imperial?) from a corner shop. I just had to fiddle around until I found the right size so they can't be THAT specific.

  • i take all the strings off to clean the freatboard...no big deal..never had any problems and also use 0.10 for lower tunning one full step down..never had problems with that either..so..i dont know..maybe its because lycenced SUCK?..maybe..just i wild guess

  • It's not a floyd rose, it's an Ibanez Edge III or something.

  • this is extremely helpful bro :]

  • what if i tighten the keys that lock the string in place on the bridge to tight?

  • You could strip the bolts, you don't need to tighten them as hard as you might think

  • thank you very much

  • hey have you notice that the lock downs have a triangle shape in of the sides?? do you know to where this shape must be facing to.. i mean facing the strings or to up/down the guitar..?? o it works both ways

  • The triangle shape should be going up and down in the same direction of the string

  • Is this kind of knot suitable for all guitars? including my gibson les paul?

  • hehe this guy is doing the typical "i am talking while i`m working noises"! like: earr we goh

doesnt matter coz this video is great and helpful

  • thank you! helped me in everyway.

  • Wow, this video was so helpful, thanks so much ;)

  • You can use this technique for just about any guitar with a floyd rose bridge

  • Is this just for Ibanez guitars? Or just any Floyd?

  • Great video for Ibanez owners!

    5 stars!
