thanks man for posting im 14 years old and i poped a couple strings on my guitar didnt even know how to replace guitar stings thanks to u man i know how thanks for postin i can finally get my guitar in better shape
hey how do i know where the middle of my fine tuning knobs are? im trying to change my strings now and i think im doing good ur helping me alot also i was wondering could i use the fine tuning knobs to go from standard tuning to drop d tuning on my low E stringany time i want thanks for all ur help
@DoyafEELmee Your welcome. Glad it helped. If you want to check out a new free weekly guitar lesson series I'm starting up go to: rockguitarpower(dot)com/weeklylessonseries
@JerryAmoz You should get strings with the proper gauge and then simply tune them to whatever lower tuning you want, I think. Shouldn't be harder than that...
I got really frustrated with my Edge Pro so I blocked it. I don't regret doing it at all because now it rarely goes out of tune. I do kinda miss being able to whammy both ways, but I got over it.
ITS NOT A FLOYD ROSE!!!!! your retarded, its an original edge, not a floyd. if your ganna own an ibanez, at least learn about the trems. they NEVER used OFR's after anout '87
my guitar is very wierd. i have floyd rose but it dosent lock. where you tighten the "little bricks" thats where my string does i feed it through the end then just tighten it. it says floyd rose on it but im not sure what it is. im planning on getting a new guitar and how would i set up my guitar for drop d tuning (D A D G B E)
my string snapped while tuning (im retarded and went the wrong way) so my guitar was out of tune when it snapped. what should i do about the tension sins it will be off? or will it not really matter since its only one string difference? should i put that one string on tune my guitar than do the others?
right can you explain exactly what you have to do to the bridge when you change string gauges or can you make a video on what to do please. cuz ive ordered a guitar and im pretty sure it'll come with nines on it and i love the bendy ness of eights i will probably consider getting the eights on it asap. otherwise awesome vid dude.
Hi, I'm having trouble with my floyd rose on my high B, and E strings it's making a sort of muted noise when it's fretted, and they also seem to be a little bit closer to the body than the other strings, is there any help you could possibly give? Thanks
@RammsteinIstUber i guess your action is too low. send it to the shop if you don't know how to set them yourself. i don't think they will charge you for this. hope this helps (:
ive been just taking the whole string, running it through the peg and having the little metal loop stay on the head stock. instead of clipping it off. is that ok? i find that it keeps the strings pretty tight
i have always left the ball ends on the strings and put them at the tuners on the headstock... then just trim em down before i put the other end in the bridge...
i already changed all my strings buy when im tuning them my floyd rose is like really really elevated i think it should a kind of parallel but mine just goes about an inch high!
@Forgeth3Bulletz you probably need another spring on the bridge, also there are some screws to adjust that on the back of the guitar underneath the larger panel.
@Forgeth3Bulletz If you tune E, B, G, D, A, E (in that order or the reverse), then your bridge will do as you describe and rise up and up until the action is ridiculous. Try using the following tuning progression: Low E, High E, B, reset Low E, A, Reset high E & B, G, Reset Low E & B & G, D. You may have to repeat that progression again, but it should require less and less adjustment until it is right.
1. Take the lock nuts off, tune to your desired tuning and adjust the tension of the springs until your floating bridge is parallel to your guitar.
2. In stead of adjusting the springs, put of a block of wood or other material in spring cavity so that it stops the bridge from going backwards when you loosen up the strings. While the block is in place, you won't be able to pull on the whammy bar but will still be able to dive with it.
@gematria696 3. I'm not sure if this is actually possible but get bigger strings (bigger string tuned to let's say C, has more tension on it then thinner string tuned to C). Tune down and the bigger strings, in theory should compensate for tension loss due to lower tuning. I wouldn't recommend this at all it probably won't work.
great vid dude i have an edge 3 bridge in my ibanez and i noticed that the high E string seems like it has a lot more tension than the other strings like its a little harder to bend any reasons why it would start doing this? Ive changed the strings 3 times and it still has the same problem
hey man my bridge down by where u have to cut the ball ends off and put em in down by the wammy bar like lifeted about 2 and a half inches what do i do ???????????????
Your strings might be too thick. The problem with floyd's is that it is a constant battle of tension between the strings and springs in the back. You need to either get thinner strings (like 9's) or have more spring tension in the back. add another spring or two.
thnx man u really helped!!! ...also , to clean the dust off, get an arisole can ( just with compressed air in it ) and it should have a name related to "dust remover", or something probly along the lines of that, and its also good to use after a week to get the dust out of the hard to reach places, like the bridge, pickups, etc
You should tune you guitar not in horizontal position but !!! IN VERTICAL POSITION !!!
(i mean you must hold your guitar like you are playing it when you tune it ,because in horizontal position floyd rose tremolo will pull your strings down and when you turn your guitar in vertical position , the key(tuning) of your strings will not be the same as you wanted)
I've got a bit of a problem though. When I tune up to my preffered tuning (Drop D) my bridge is either to high or too low. When I correct this however my guitar goes out of tune again - and when I correct this my bridge goes out again - it's a vicious cycle.
How do I know the gauge of the strings I should use? Last time I changed the strings without taking care, I had no problem, but now I took some 10 and I have some trouble... I throw away my older strings, so I don't remember what size they were... Can someone help me to figure out what size I should buy?
Oh and I still don't get the heavier gauge string bit, my first and last guitar which was a Fender had a normal bridge system and I used a thicker set of strings for drop tuning (I think I was using like a 12 gauge set and it let me go all the way down to drop A) but when I standard tuned the bridge was lifted up, what's this stuff about adjusting the springs?? It's just I'd like to be able to standard tune my Floyd Rose even if I get a heavier gauge set of strings for drop tuning.
It depends on what kind of bridge you have. If you have a floyd rose and your using lighter string and then you change to heavier ones, the bridge will raise up because the tension will be higher. If your guitar has a fixed bridge you don't need to worry about it. Also, if your using the same strings as you always have and it plays good, then leave it alone.
Im purchasing a new guitar soon with a floyd rose double locking system and i've got 2 brands of strings i like to use and their different thicknesses. How do i know i've adjusted it right for my string gauge?
@rockguitarpower I have exactly that problem! I recently changed to very heavy strings on my floyd. And the bridge raised when I tried to tune it! Please help! I can barley play the guitar now because off it! Please help!
@rockguitarpower i want to get the ESP LTD mh-1000 FR just for the colour that the NT version doesnt have lol but i m afraid. Your great in your job though bravo from greece
hey bro i tune down to like drop C what is it exactly i have to do with the springs or whatever can you help me out and i also like to use thicker strings
I lost one of the bolts that you use to tighten and loosen the little bricks (to remove the strings). Can you purchase them at a general hardware store?
I got a pack with like 10 different sizes, 1 Metric and 1 Imperial set (metric & imperial?) from a corner shop. I just had to fiddle around until I found the right size so they can't be THAT specific.
i take all the strings off to clean the freatboard...no big deal..never had any problems and also use 0.10 for lower tunning one full step down..never had problems with that either..so..i dont know..maybe its because lycenced SUCK?..maybe..just i wild guess
hey have you notice that the lock downs have a triangle shape in of the sides?? do you know to where this shape must be facing to.. i mean facing the strings or to up/down the guitar..?? o it works both ways
So i have .10 strings cuz i digg the deeper more resolved tone. Problem is its a total b**** to tune. Any tips?

He tunes wrong his guitar !!! Don't repeat this .
