  • Excellent video. I only ask if you could make a slower section with just the full alphabet, so that we could repeat after you.

I'm 1 hour and 20 minutes away from going to my Beginners' Italian class and you've helped me do my homework in 15 minutes better than the teacher has done in 2 weeks! :D

  • the V is pronounced "vu" not "vi"

  • @adancecool You are wrong. V can be pronounce "vi" as well. If you don't trust my words, go and check on wikipedia: Italian alphabet. ^^

  • For B, it almost sounds like you say "dee" or "di". Is it the quality of the recording, or are you saying "bee" or "bi"? This is awesome by the way. I'm self teaching and this is helping me out big time. Thanks!

Not all of us are ignorant, you know.

  • @almirati i really hope so but the more i watch american tv the more i hear it, it is actually annoying becuz its the same thing wit iraq.

  • @fluffyfan07

I can only roll them if it's starting the word and the sentence or with certain consonant pairs. Lol... Practice, I guess, right?

  • Newb attempting to learn Italian. Why anyone gave a thumbs down is beyond me. Once I get the alphabet down I look forward to watching more of your lessons. Thank you.

  • I know english,spainish,greek alphabet,italian alphabet

  • That 's super easy I memorize them =)

  • can anyone who is italian tell me is he pronounce correctly?

just wanna make sure : )

  • @Sam7EEE I am Italian, but I was born in Sicily. Standard Italian has 7 different kind of vowels (a, opened e, closed e, i, opened o, closed o, u). Unfortunately in Sicily we don't have the 2 closed vowels, we have just 5 (a, opened e, i, opened o, u). So though I pronounce everything correctly, I don't know which words have the opened or closed "e" or "o".

  • @Rocket277

Grazie! I'd rather learn Sicilian anyway.

  • @Sam7EEE

As italian, i say it's correct, but i'm from north Italy and i pronunce 'dove' with close O. Here O is open.

I pronunce 'Idea' with close E. In 'Naso' i pronunce the S slighty different, almost like a Z. I use close O in 'Roma' (the italian R letter is difficult for me).

Pronunce may change a bit from region to region, but you can thrust this.

  • Pizza = Pizza :D

  • i know english, spanish, and german and for some reason italian is harder for me than all three. i think it's because it has a smaller alphabet.

  • I want to learn Italian :D really really badly!~ I only know English =_=

  • how to do a perfect R? HELP PLEASE!

  • @Theyogurtmonster Pay attention to where you put your tongue (I speak so many languages I notice the difference but I understand if it's hard). In English R in pronounces inside your mouth, and as you can see your mouth is almost closes. OK now, open a bit your mouth, smile and put your tongue behind your upper front teeth (not totally behind but at least on the top part of your mouth). You will be able to make a real RRRRR sound :) Maybe it sound weird but it's how I learned

  • i only speak english, i want to learn italian really bad!!!

  • I studied French for twelve years and now I'm doing Italian in college....I'm finding it surprisingly muchhh harder than French :/

  • I can speak English and Arabic, and right now I'm taking up Italian and Spanish *fingers crossed* I'm starting with Italian :) Thank you :)

  • @MizzNaaa i think its easy with spanish first because im from el paso and when i started picking up italian it came easy and fast :)good luck!!

  • Definitly I'm going to learn Italian in stead of French simply because it's similar to spanish ;)

  • I have to say that French alphabet is closer to spanish than italian...it's a trip Italian sounds so close to spanish though!

  • I am Vietnamese and i want to learn Italian and French, i cant believe that i find it so easy to learn Italian. We have the same pronunciation. That's amazing !!!

  • Italian is really easy ,thx for the vids

  • Quite helpful. ^^

  • Italian is so beautiful, I have always had an interest for the language. I've studied Spanish, Norwegian, Esperanto and Russian. Though Italian is jut the most beautiful and eased composition man has composed.

  • @Marz0824 how about vietnamese for a change?:D

  • DARN ME AND MY INABILITY TO ROLL A FREAKIN R !!!!

  • @Mikubou124 me too! i speak vienamese, and it has somewhat resemblance to italian, espeacially the alphabet pronunciation. and i can't pull of an R (_"_!)

  • wow! italian alphabet is sooo similar to Spanish alphabet. i wanna learn<3

  • thnak you thank you thank you... this videos are amazing

  • Well done Rocket277,, this must be very helpful for those who want to learn some Italian, but you have a strong south Italian accent. When you say "dove", you pronounce it "dòve", when you say "economia" you pronounce it "èconomia" and not "économia", and also when you say "spaghetti" you say "spaghètti" and not spaghétti as it should be.

  • Yay, I like starting to learn a language with the alphabet. I want to learn Italian, I knew it was similar to Spanish (which I know a tiny bit) I'm surprised at how similar! I need to practice roling my Rs...lol

  • @elfgurl06 This because spanish and french derive from latin like italian and have the same grammatical base, but italian is more difficult because (like i say in the precedent comment) is full of exceptions! Sorry if my english is wrong but i'm italian!! XD XD XD Byeeeee! xoxo

  • Beautiful.

  • i really want to learn this =]..its like spanish!

  • i like the p of pizza :D

  • you have a CUTE voice

  • Pizza :D xD FAVORITE PART... But I aint that big of an italian food fan oddly enough... Like Spaghetti yuuuck... Well its mostly because I hate anything and everything with tomatoes... Its weird when I order pizza because I order it with no sauce, WHAT? True story breh.

  • do you guys know the 'Star, Little Star' song? my grandpa from Italy tought it 2 me 'Stella stellina la notte si avvicina la fiamma traballa la mucca e nella stalla la pecora e l'agnello la vacca col vitello la chioccia coi pulchini la gatta coi gattini e tutti fan la nanna nel cuore della mamma!' I love that song, even if its a little children's lullaby Mi dispiace(I'm sorry) if that was wierd <3 italian! ;)
  • they are not included in the standard italian alphabet but they DO have their pronunciation:

    J [i lunga]

    k [kappa]

    w[doppia vu]

  • the only reason i click to this video is because the previous videoes l cicked to were about some hot Italian men

  • I know can speak fluent English and Spanish, I can speak a moderate amount if French and now I'm trying to Lear Italian and portugese. All of these languages are very similar and in fact I can look at a text from any of these languages and it's easy to understand.

  • @megapizzaplanet The languages that comes from Latin are: mainly Italian, whit a little derivation from greek (and in the south idiomas a tear of arabian), french (i don't know other influences of foreign languages), spanish and portoguese (arabian influences), and Romanian (neighboorhoods influences)

  • i know french little spanish english german

  • What are the languages that derive from latin?; I believe spanish, french, and italian are among them but i believe there are more

  • this is what i have bben looking for it

    than you very much

  • that looks cool, Italian is equal to the Portuguese, and French as well, Spanish is very similar to Portuguese, the foreigner who knows speak Portuguese, to me is considered a genius, because Portuguese is a difficult language, so that foreigners prefer Spanish than Portuguese, Italian is more easy for the Brazilians.

  • io parlo un po' de la lingua italian. io parlo spgnolo e inglese.

  • i speak a little french and alot of spanish italiano is alot like speaking spanish its nice it can relate.

  • you've forgoten "K" = kappa

  • ma sei italiano?ottima pronuncia cmq

  • i speak english and spanish. a little french a little japanese a little chinese going to be learning latin next year and teaching myself italian so i can surprise my boyfriend and his grandma since according to him she and i would get along really well other than the fact that she doesn't speak english only french and italian (:

  • i love your accent. :)

    this is nice

  • helll yea! i know the italiens alphabet!!!

  • I was born in a French speaking city, so I learned fluency in French when I was young. Most english speaking friends of mine say that english is easy, because they learned fluency while young. I find English very hard, because I did not learn english, until I was 8 (When I Moved to "La Unis D'etat de Amerique" or in english United States.

  • 2:11 I have a friend name Luna :D

  • ohhhh this was soooooo helpfuL! although its quite easy for me cuz i speak spanish, and most of the words are identical to spanish so i was like :O --> :D

but this was very helpful now i can practice everyday1 :D

  • almost got the whle alphaet right just missed 3 =w=

  • i love the :D beside Pizza.

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH !

I've been dying to learn italian :D

  • i need to learn italian to speak it around the house more!<3

  • @supercarrie101

ciao. parlo alcuno italiano. non sono molto bravo. quanti anni hai? se sei giovane, e' piu facile.

If you can understand the above, you understand some of the basics.

  • wow u guys are kool

  • so that is why japanese can study spanish faster than english.

  • I have a question for any native Italian speakers: Where exactly does your tongue touch when you say the letter L? I can't find any helpful explanations so if you could be as specific as possible, that would be awesome. :)

  • @ KeikoHarrison....when you say the letter L you touch the same spot when you say L.

The only difference IN MY OPINION is when you say the L in english you pull ur tongue back into your mouth...in italian you make it drop on top of your bottom teeth or right behind them....if that makes any sense for you! xD hahha GL :)

  • @KeikoHarrison u should place ur tounge close to the outside of the mouth

  • You shouldn't be surprised by the fact that Italian is similar to Spanish and French, because all those 3 languages come after Latin, along with Portuguese, Romanian and Catalan. So that we can say that in some cases speakers of those languages understand each other even if they don't speak the other's languages. Not always though, they have their differences too of course. Similarities with Japanese are due to its syllabic rhyhm and by the fact that all vowels are read, no mute vowels.

  • Wow°!. Do you know something?.-I´m from Mexico, and i can speak english.

But i want to learn italian, i find it very easy.

I can understand italian, and i had never studied it!.

  • Ah Mexico! :D

Bueno no te dejes engañar por la inteligibilidad del idioma, los idiomas "parecidos" al propio suelen ser fáciles de entender, pero a la hora de hablarlo la dificultad aumenta.

En todo caso suerte con el aprendizaje :)

  • @CristinaXLawliet Italiano and Spanish very similar...dialect almost identical. ( From a Coluzzi / Roma )

  • if I can... maybe it's not very important but... a little attention to words which are pronounced with a strange accent ^^" a little dialectal...

"dove" should be pronunciated with the "closed" o

"economia" it's not èconomia, but économia

roma is not ròma ... it has to be pronunciated with the "closed" o

"spaghetti" is not spaghètti, but spaghétti

of course if you speak with the not "standard" accent it is not a big problem, because people may understand you as well!

    Anyway, good vid! ^^

  • Isnt "v" pronounced (vu) not (vi) ???

  • "riuscirebbe" sry but how do u pronounce this word? can u pls try to tell me as clearly as possible like hello=ha low? lol pls and pls again:D

  • I'll try but it's very difficult to explain it just writing it :D

Anyway, it sounds more or less as follows: "ree-ushee-rebbe".

When you have troubles in the reading of a word just remember that in italian the vowels are always read in the same way. It's not like in English.

  • @MrUrgando yes exactly, the sound of shee is equal sci in italian,

  • @GTWLsnow ryu-shee-rabbe ("e" like in "ever")

  • i am learning english & find it hard , there are so many words with same meaning and much "slang" grazie .

  • im takin french at school and ive noticed alot of similarities in the way italian and french is set up which makes it alot easier :D im determined to learn italian hehe awesome video

  • @XmenMarvel Spanish is easier than italian ;)

  • @XmenMarvel you don't know the italian verbs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they are an inferno!!!!

  • @XmenMarvel For me the italian is very difficult to learn for the grammar , because is full of exceptions! Is difficult for an italian student to write, think for a foreigner!

I said it to you an italian! Sorry if my english is wrong, but i'm italian! XDDD

  • @TheAlixRose

Yeah is really difficult some things!! lol, and don't worry your english is great ;)

  • I swear, it surprises me how easy this language is. I know English, Spanish and a little bit of French. Have y'all noticed how similar it is to Spanish? I have no accent when I speak Italian.

  • @ovallerule It is extremely difficult don't to be recognised if you are a non-native. I think that only Spanish native can succeed in. I never heard a English-speaking native really speaking like an Italian.

  • its easier for me cause i speak spanish its kinda of the same grazie is gracias ^^

  • Yes, I do agree that knowing Spanish or French( I dont know french, no se frances) can make learning Italian alittle easy.

  • this lesson help alot grazie

  • This is awesome! Grazie! :-)

  • I can speak Spanish and a bit of French, and it never surprises to see how similar Italian is to all these languages

  • *never ceases to surprise...

  • believe it or not there are some similarities with the pronunciations with the Japanese alphabet. wow this helps alot when you have another language you know other than English. Farout no wonder they say english is the most difficult to learn.

  • @hokeypokeypanda

I know! I thought to myself that some of this pronounciation sounds the same as Japanese.

This language seems easy. Knowing Spanish and having some background in Japanese is going to make Italian so much easier. XD

  • @diornotwar123 3 romantic languages that came mostly from latin

  • @xxxPLAYGIRL4lifexxx I speak English, Arabic and a little Latin, but I want to learn Spanish or Italian.

  • This is awesome! I' working on some homework that I want to get finished today and I'm trying to figure out how to say "Stellina" and "Dolcezza". I wish we did italian at school, we only do french or german - my class does german. :(

  • alcuni persona sapere dove posso comprare dvd's da film, novelas in italiano?

  • @followmesky Google "Feltrinelli". You will find anything you need.

Can I correct the mistakes in your phrase?

    You shoul have written:

"qualcuno" instead of "alcuni persona"-> very odd

you have to conjugate the verb, you can't use the infinitive, so you should write "SA" (simple present's third person of indicative mood)

"di", that is "of", instead of "da" (meaning "from" or "by")

  • im trying to learn Italian.. thx!

  • the english alphabet is missing some letters ...its abcdefghijklmnopqrstuv(wxy)z...there are 3 letters missing
