The book is so much deeper. I loved the perspective it gave me for the afghan people. One thing I don't get. There was a Christian couple in Pakistan that were suppose to take Sohrab. They were "good people" and provided the best hope for him. But then it turns out that they didn't exist. I thought this was weird. Does the Muslin world look at Christian missionaries like the book did?
When I was young, I had a great friend. He was Muslim, I am Jewish. Oblivious to the hatred which generally separates our two religious groups, we got along extremely well. Then one day, his mother, who had totally accepted our friendship, found out about where my family comes from.
I was never allowed to be with him again.
For those of you who assume all Muslims are terrorists, shame on you. I've learned to love and accept. Despite his family not accepting where I come from.
@wireartist1 I am a Muslim, and I totally respect any other religion that was ever made, I even respect Buddhism and all the other religions, and I am really willing in meeting people like you!
@TheFakhouryGuy I wish there were more people like you in the world, because this kind of hatred does nothing but ruin lives :) Thank you too, for being a wonderful person :)
Is this the whole film ? Shortened? This a bit like a tv-film, not bad, but... The book is amazing, the best books I've ever read -This film doesn't have the nuances and excitement of the book, the whole afghan culture plus a lot of the human points in all of this story. And the description of the barbarian talibans.... When I read the book I felt like watching a movie;depth, various characters, the tastes, the smells, Kabul, the wind,flowers,fruit- I'm happy they speak mostly pashtun in this film
@androidexpert1 - Yes, you're right; they speak dari, I wrote wrong, that was what I was gonna right - I've seen this film now few times and I think it's a lot bettter than I first felt - the music in fantastic.
i loveeeeeed this movie 10000000 likes it is really sad but thanks got kind off happy ending for this poor kid. amir was a coward first but he proved himself a hero at the end!!!
@BMWLOVER22 the singer name is sami yusef he have alot of different songs like that his voice is very soft and soothing idk which one of them is this one sorry, but hope i helped :)
we just finsished reading this book in class an i loved it ... i just wished they add more parts of the books in it .. like sohrabs attmepted sucide was preety imporatntn and i dont know y they didnt include it in.. anyways i love the ending and that line.. gave me goosebumbps :)
We're reading this in class and they left a lot out of this movie but its still really good it even brought some tears in my eyes but amazing is all i gotta say, its a very moving book
When I read the book I really hated Amir for not speaking up when Hassan was raped, and that he avoided Hassan after that and for making it out that Hassan stole the watch and watched them leave the house. How can a human being be so cruel?
Anyway I guess a part of me wanted to forgive him for going through the trouble of finding his nephew and adopting Hassan's son. The ending was good. One of the rarest movies out there that made me cry and sweat. Thank you for uploading and sharing the mov
It's a good film and brought tears to my eyes which very few films do to me. But, if I could change anything about the film, I would make sure I included more things that happened in the book, significant things. Such as Farid's name and Sohrab's attempted suiced. The actors are amazing! But I don't the writers gave General Sahib enough lines to truly portray how his actor is in the book.
P.S: I think the actress who plays Soraya is actually stunning!
maybe the movie is good but it was not real ....i dont like taliban but i can say that they will never do ( bacha bazi or raqsandan bacha ha ) and also in that movie they accused the Pashtun people and insult Hazara people so it is not fair
@PetalBlossom81 Agreed.. while reading the book, I started crying from the beginning till to the end and there were many many scenes that touched my heartd sooo badly . I just finished reading it a few hours ago and then immediately watched the movie with the hope of cry more:) As you said its a complete trash compared to the book. No emotions, no feelings.
@xfxfxfsindy@PetalBlossom81 I completely agree. I read the book and LOVED IT! Then I saw the trailer to the film and knew the movie would be just as successful, however not what I was expecting. Not only were there parts from the book missing in the film that completely tell the story, but I felt the directors had rushed the movie, causing it to lack depth, emotion, feeling, and as well as poor dialogue. Was not fond of the film at all.
@xfxfxfsindy@PetalBlossom81. Had the directors worked harder and included all the elements that were needed, plus a better cinematography, I could have almost guaranteed 100% that the film would have been phenomenal, possibly even a box office hit. I do admit the acting of the young boys who played Amir and Hassan were outstanding...they were so cute! And I wished they had put in some of the graphic scenes as well, would have inflicted a good stir in the audience.
@PetalBlossom81 - I think this movie is not "trash", but so much thinner than the book; actually this film and the book can't be compared - The book is "the film", the drama- This film is just tid-bits. The film is sort of nice, the beauty and the fire of Afghanistan is in the book.
I dont think that i have cried more than in this movie. it is very similar to A Thousand Splendid Suns as they are from the same author, Khaled H. both are great stories, but the books just have to better.
@edrisjan85 yes lol pashtoons are very good people, they make up 99% of the taliban, the behead people/children/women. They dont get on with their own people, they always says Afghanistan is the home of Pashtoons tajiks, uzbeks, hazaras dont belong here, and you think this is a fake movie, its just part of the truth, the whole truth is much darker.
Great movie, loved the soundtrack. But the book was a lot better <3

Such an great film/book, taught me much about Afghan culture.
("I feel like a tourist in my own country" "You've always been a tourist here, you just didn't know it")
Sad to think the people affected by war/greed the most, are the those who are barely mentioned in our history books "civilian casualties" etc.
Nice to hear their story's told even though fiction.
As a Muslim I feel the need to say "this is wrong and we wont accept it" about our external/internal problems alike. And we have many.

Although its a good and powerful movie i wouldnt want to watch it again especially not after seeing the taliban gay shitts.

@daveumbc I can't remember how exactly the book looks at the Christian missionaries. Care to elaborate? :)
But I do know that the Muslim world see's any type of charity work as honorable, no matter who its done by. Good intention is what is important. :)

It's a good movie. Just not as good as the book, which is amazing!
The book made me want to cry. I teared up a lot when Hassan was getting raped. ),:
F*** you Assef.
They should've made Assef a blonde blue-eyed german, with steel knuckles(like the book). It would've been better that way.
Btw, Hassan was my favorite character!-3
It's sad that he died...
When Hassan & his father were leaving Baba & Amir, I teared up a lot, as well!! I was practically sweari
