dalton was the best, moore was good but had to step aside for a real bond that lives on the edge ice cold, disliked who he really was,its amazing how close the novels are to daltons bond thats what i call acting as ian flemings bond
@ElectricBlueCitrus Well I loved those two and the theme songs. As a kid Grace Jones scared me in A View To A Kill, but I loved it. Also Roger Moore was my favourite Bond, although I acknowledge that Connery is the definitive 007. As for 'License To Kill', I think it was more intense. It was darker, and Dalton was as ruthless as Ian Flemming's character was intended to be. It also had one of the best Bond villans.
@ElectricBlueCitrus I might have to agree. Although I loved all the 80's Bond movies. The first Bond that disappointed me was Pierce Brosnan's debut as 007, 'Golden Eye'. Bond hit an alltime low with 'Quantum Of Solace'. Hope they get back on track with the next one.
This is my favourite Bond movie. I loved it, terrific acting, superb action, nice realistic plot, excellent music and greatly shot by John Glen.
First bond of the 80's as well, and the best of the 80's in my personal opinion. This should have been Roger Moore's last, because at least that way he would have: 1. Had a shot in the 80's 2. Left at the right time, age wise (after FYEO he aged, and he aged fast..) and 3. He could have a basic, serious and more realistic approach to 007.
Well... At least one Ian Fleming type, serious approach to the role of James Bond. One other thing I forgot to add is were the locations, absolutely stunning.
Beacuse he is the worst bond in the history of the series and istoo old for the role and should never have been given the role the series would have been much better if lazenby had stayed on and wiped out the whole moore campy era. i like my bond serious with no gadgets using his brain. if he does have gadgets then i like it wen he doesnt have alot because its boring seeing him escape from serious situations just like that. i dont even consider moore as bond becaue he totally fucked it up
@royalefreshness may I suggest you read the books written by Ian Fleming? In "Casino Royale" you can read the description of James Bond when he looks into the mirror. You'll find the no 007 actor ever came closer to the original in the book.
@TheColinChapman I don't know you why are you talking to me. In the books it says black hair you hear me BLACK hair not brown which Moore has. Yeh fair enough connery has brown hair but hes the best bond so its forgiven. the closed to the book i thin is a mixture between Dalton and Lazenby that it what bond should be. Craig isnt that band he doesn't look the part tho but his bond movies r serious so i will allow thos except quantum of solace which was absolute shit. But all of moores are Shit.
You can't blame Moore for his take on the role. It was just the way movies were going at the time. Indeed the first really light-hearted 70's Bond was "Diamonds are Forever" starring Connery! Moore played the character the way he plays all his characters & never tried to be anything else. His movies are good fun & did really well at the box office.
The other important thing is that he loved playing 007 & still loves talking about it. No-one else does. Including Daniel.
@DaveBond21 OK fair enough i know films where like that at the time wait no they wern't look at other action movies that came out the same year as this film. raiders and mad max 2 both serious movies maybe with a tiny bit of humor and i admit FYEO isnt his most comedic performance and probs one of his best if not his best but it jus pales in comparison to the other bonds best movies. Diamonds is a wasted opportunity, it could have been the best bond film is lazenby had stayed.

@ElectricBlueCitrus And the theme song for both those Bond movies were brilliant. Duran Duran and Gladys Knight really delivered.

For Your Eyes Only wasn't the best Bond movie - typical storyline and really bad Bond girls.
The main theme song (Sheena Easton) was brilliant though.
