i dont understand how americans can spend 50,000 dollars and more on a lexus and dont prefer a mercedes bmw or audi...i mean all of them look so much better the body and the interior. lexus cars are so boring even a jetta looks better than a ls600..
also the german technologies of bmw merc and audi are more modern, efficient and always well-engineered than lexus'

For people that didn't get the commercial, the commercial is generalizing people as wanting to get into the top three schools, wanting to get a job in law, medicine and business, and purchase the same three brands of luxury cars. Its saying the Audi A5 stands out!
reality is that there is no market here for them. at least that's what Audi thinks. similar scenario is why BMW doesn't ship the 1-series hatchbacks or station wagon M3's and M5's to the US. it's just a whole different ball field over here compared to Europe and the rest of the world....
The funny thing over there in the US is, that all these brands (not only car brands) pull another brand's leg. Sometimes it's just nasty and sometimes it's got class. This one got class. Good add.

My '09 A5 was of the 3.2 V6 variety and was quite fast with very smooth power throughout the range of the engine. I actually just sold it and picked up a '10 A4 S-Line with the 2.0T engine (needed 4 doors). While the stock 2.0T is not quite as fast, especially at the high-end this engine can easily be modded for very little (ECU flash, exhaust, better intercooler) and will become MUCH faster and have much more torque than the 3.2L V6 which you don't really have these options with. More potential

People in the US didn't include Japanese "near" luxury cars into the mix until the late 80's. Those that know better already know that Audi has been part of the cycle for decades. LOL. When ever there is a performance cars comparison it's usually Audi (RS) vs BMW (M) vs Merc (AMG).
I think the reason that many buyers haven't been interested in Audi in the past is just because they haven't been well designed. I'm talking about looks here nothing else. The new ones however, like this A5 are incredible. The A5/S5 are probably my two favorite cars at the moment--and I am a die hard Mercedes fan and owner.
There design cues were never bad. My first car was a `79 Audi 5000 S. The car was eight years old and people with brand new cars were still envious of it. But that's teenagers for ya.
I have owned both bmw and an audi and audi's quattro system is extremely impressive. I believe it is better than the xdrive and the 4matic is just terrible from my own experiences. Audi does seem to be the out cast of the luxury cars market but the hold their reputation well with quality cars

hey iimpodi, i agree with you all the way! My family has had a BMW and 2 mercedes but we are now full-fledged Audi fans. We have owned three Audis now and they are just wonderful. Quattro performance in dry and wet, design, interior, safety, solid engineering! I love Audi's new truth in engineering campaign as it really shows how they are different from the rest. Big blizzard in Ohio right now, we drove our 2006 A6 through the treacherous roads and watched bimmers get stuck while we passed by!
