Government workers are not all bad apples, but they see plenty of co-corkers who phone it in. They see the behind-the-scenes corruption, malinvestments and perverse incentives.
There are some good, well-intentioned people in government who still have some integrity. I'm not at all surprised that they are supporting Ron Paul. Not everyone can be bought.
Paul wants to eliminate 5 federal agencies. The important parts will be rolled over into other agencies and JOBS WILL BE ELIMINATED THROUGH ATTRITION--meaning if someone quits, the job won't be replaced; if someone retires, the job won't be replaced. Nothing to fear here, folks!

If you're an honest person that works in government, you begin to realize the truth from the inside. You see all the waste, the over paid lazy people etc etc. Sometimes you have to put the greater good ahead of your own immediate personal gain.

@19TEC85 That's a good perspective. I kind of think that they realize Dr. Paul isn't going after their jobs immediately. He wants to cut "overseas" spending so there's funds to spend on the people here at home. So, that leaves room for a lot of federal employees who do help us. Just a thought.

Government workers are in the best position to see the failures, waste, fraud, abuse and sloth that is government.
Government workers are not all bad apples, but they see plenty of co-corkers who phone it in. They see the behind-the-scenes corruption, malinvestments and perverse incentives.
There are some good, well-intentioned people in government who still have some integrity. I'm not at all surprised that they are supporting Ron Paul. Not everyone can be bought.

Paul wants to eliminate 5 federal agencies. The important parts will be rolled over into other agencies and JOBS WILL BE ELIMINATED THROUGH ATTRITION--meaning if someone quits, the job won't be replaced; if someone retires, the job won't be replaced. Nothing to fear here, folks!

@1952Bebe Exactly. Well said. And, in some cases, government workers may be offered buy outs of some sort, which will be appealing to some of them, especially those near retirement.
The more vibrant economy that Ron Paul's policies would produce will give many government workers a chance to get jobs in the private sector and get out of the government jobs that they loathe.

This should not be a surprise when you think of the fact that these people are no different than anyone else. They are seeing the writing on the wall just like the rest of us. If there is no more money, or it becomes worthless, they too will be out of a job and any savings they had will become equal to the mold on an old dollar bill. This country needs personal liberty, innovators, and the ability to create and have a business. Without those things, there is no need for public workers.

when was this segment aired? i'm assuming after the end of october. i don't think it's counter-intuitive because people who see a good candidate will support him/her even if the candidate's plans will be detrimental to their short term future. they know that they'll be better off in the long run.
