Thank you for thsi video. I remember our engine bay full of smoke, running to the truck and responding at 11:30AM that day. Most of the rest of the day is a blur, with isolated moments where I recall details. I was close to where the photo of Elvis refilling was taken, a few houses down. I don't know that we can really lay blame anywhere, the conditions were beyond extreme and unprecedented in recorded Victorian history.
People really need to understand how the DSE and CFA really work, its not the firefighters fault, its who runs them, seriously y leave a fire burn for days and not put it out just to have it a few days later get out of control and destroy everything, they new how bad a fire would be after so many years of drought, so why didnt they have enough water bomers and plans in place, it just goes to show how incompetent the CEO or Chiefs really are, how bout listen to the firefighters on the ground
as a firefighter my self i truly believe that the dep of sastainability and enviroment DSE have a lot to answer for ive seen them leave fires for days without doing anything apart from rack up overtime, then there out of control and the fire claims wild life property and lives not to mention it puts our lives in jeoperdy as firefighters. the government should be ashamed of them self for only having limited aircraft available to fight the fires, SHAME ON YOU GOVERNMENT, CFA brass, DSE brass
As a career volunteer firefighter here in the states and with all that I have faced in my 28 years, it pains me to see the amount of destruction that was done. I hope and pray that those who lost their lives in this firestorm went quickly and painlessly.
Thank you for making this video, it means a great deal to me since i was one of the victims that experienced this tragedy, it makes us believe that we will never be forgotten.
Amazing video, absolutely amazing. I went to Marysville for a camp when I was little, and we walked through the forest to that lolly shop. I can't believe the fire that destroyed Marysville was deliberately lit. It makes me so angry.
A terrible terrible day, very graphically presented here...
It has to be said...what an amazingly slick and respectfull production this is.
I have 'used' the ABC's documentary 'Inside the Firestorm' to come to grips with all that happened...right now though I have found something better...this short but breath-taking 9 minute video...amazing stuff!!..Thanks guys!
i feel sorry for the animals and babies. I have cats and 8 month old twins and it would break my heart and blacken my whole life if i lost them in this way.
