i think the g body was the last cool grand prix. i have an 85 with the 305. i like to hop on the freeway on that mother fucka. that 62 looks hard also
My dad owned off white and tan 81GP with the Olds 350 Diesel, not a good engine by any means. It barely lasted a year before it blew up. Only like 180 hp or something. He has a non-diesel Olds 350 block and heads and camshaft (in Van Meter Iowa, about 70-80 miles away from des moines where he now lives.)and that's about it he's really pissed he sold it. Really hard to find in Iowa.
I have a black 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GT, but they over did it on trying to modernize the car in 2004 and made it unattractive. Maybe they should have just stuck to updating the interior instead.
today i just baught a 1981 grand prix LJ with a t-top, clean body but the interior needs a little TLC but shes a nice car. and once that little V-6 gives out im droppin in a 4.9L V-8 from a trans am
@cadddy1871 i have a 79 sj with a 4.9 301 good motor but when you swap it you should put a 350 trans insted of that whimpy 200 if your gonna put performance parts in it
@grafftodatrack planed on it, im also kicking around putting in a big block. if i do than i will go with the TH400 trans. but i do plan on switching them out as a pair
You've got a couple screw ups in the mix. What you have listed as a 68 is actually a 67. The 1975 you have shown is actually a GRAND AM. The 75 Grand Prix was Identical to a 74 short of having more grille bars and different tailights.
I had a '75 GP. They looked almost exactly like the '74's, other than a slightly modified grille and taillight lenses. But you could have found one, instead trying to pass a Grand Am off as a GP.
the 1972 ssj is the hottest car on here and to say the least the most valued car of the grand prix era only 60 made its rare and hard to find ,i own a 1972 j model and i'll never let her go!!!!!!!!!
Nice video but the 69 pictured (my favorite year) is a 70 GP. The 69 had an all clear turn signal lense in front (no amber strip) and had script lettering behind the front wheel (not the rectangular plate) Also the 69 had a horizontal grill (not verticle) and had 5 verticle slats on the roof sail panel (not the "grand prix" script.)
Nice put together. Must have taken a lot of time. Have been a Pontiac fan as was my Grandfather and Father. So sad to see them go into the sunset. Have had a 1970 Catalina, a 1966 GTO convertibles (2 actually..the first one someone stole...the bastard! I hope you rot in hell). Also, a 1997 Grand Prix GTP and still have a 2002 GTP 40th Anniversary Edition 2 dr.
The '75 model was the last year the GP had round headlights, the 1986 model here is the rare "2+2" Aero-coupe. I used to own a '65 GP like the one pictured... the color was "Iris mist" as pictured here, but I used '67 model spinner hubcaps. :-) The '68 model was the last GP that shared sheetmetal / chassis with the Catalina model, and last to have hide-away headlamps.
Grand prix has always been kind of a generic sleeper care for what ever decade it was made in. the 60s ones are in the shadow of an impala or a gto, the 80s are in the form of a montecarlo or buick riviata, and theyve always been kind of generic but with thier own flair. (proud owner of an 06)
The last real GP was made in 1987. The 1988-96 versions looked like generic FWD blandmobiles and the 1997-2008 versions were a step in the right direction but had there isues.
ponch, beg to differ. The last real GP was the '69-'70 model. I had a '69. That baby was mistakenly delivered with a police engine, brand new. I admit, I was a bit wild back then. when I joined the Navy, I had a police escort to the airport. My GP was back home, in the garage. =Stefan=
I have a '86 but not the 2+2 its a coupe awesome ride. And the stopped making grand prix in 87 after that they turned into disposable cars. Awesome video!!!
My dads Boss had one in the 70"s. It may have been an Executive but I cant remember. I do remember it had hideaway headlights. Never see them anymore. (not even at shows) Good Video!
I had a 77 LJ with 400 4 barrel, wish I kept it. The guy sold it too me for 2200, this was in 1999, 2 months later I had a offer of 5 grand, I needed the money, the inside was like new. The 8 track still worked. Windows and door locks were strong still. I think the 69 is my favorite. The 73=77 had a great dash.
Great video. If you could play it backwards from the 80's back, the cars would get better each year. I doubt Art Fitzpatrick ever bothered to paint a Pontiac newer than a '72. Just when Pontiac was getting cool again, GM killed the company. Bummer!
Great Video, my first car when I was 16 was a 1976 Grand LeMans. Pontiac has always been my favorite car. My dad helped with it, we had looked at Malibu's, Regals, Cutlass, we walked into the Pontiac showroom and I saw the white Grand LeMans with a firethorn landau top and interior with bucket seats. I knew this was the car. I shared that, because we had looked a so many others and when I saw this car,it outlooked everthing else I had looked at. Pontiac had the best looking GM cars.
I have a 93 SE 2 door that i'm selling then i'm getting an 04 gt, I can't wait! I'm gonna miss my 93 though :/ it's a shame 2008 was the last year for the grand prix, and 2009 will be the last year for pontiac :'(
yeah I Pontiac will definately come back, they will probably just suspend the manufacter until GM can afford to bring them back in and the Pontiac will make their comeback, plus they'll have all that time to come up with great idea's for new cars, so LIVE ON PONTIAC!
REALLY?! That's great I didn't even know that, everyone's like pontiacs are gonna be classics because they're never gonna make them again, well shove it in their faces that they could come back! And probably will!
I love Pontiacs as well my first car was a 96' Grand Am SE although the transmission was crap the car was byfar amazing!! it looked good and handled great. but now we own a 05' Pontiac G6 GT =D we love it!!
yeah those are nice overall i loved the Grand Ams idc what anyone thinks they were very nice and realiable cars. It would be nice if they kept it around but the G6 took its place but i still love the G6 best Pontiac i ever owned
Yeah if you ever look into buying a new Pontiac get the G6 its amazing, if you didnt know the G6 is pretty much the Grand Just with a new badge and shape to it.
Well i'm 16 and I have 2 cars, but the car I had first was my 93 grand prix SE, and I really do love that car. I also have an 88 IROC-Z. But i'm going to sell my 93 and get the 04 grand prix gt. I sure will miss it though. I really like the G8, I think they give stupid names to their cars now though haha, they should have just called the G8 the Grand Prix, it took it's place anyway
thats the thing with manufacters these days they are giving them a name like the G6, G3, G5, or G8 but other manufacters like Lexus, BMW, ect. do the same. idk why but i think its just harder to identify the car.
The '75 picture is a Grand Am. Also, the '68 picture shown is actually another '67 in hardtop form. The '68 is featured in the beginning of "Goodfellas". By the way, my dad owned a '72 GP Model with a 400 c.i.d. V8 and automatic transmission for 13 years. Since the time it was new, he put 270,000 miles on it with the original drivetrain.
My dad had a 1987 as his first car :)

0:44 - 1968 is not the correct picture. You have the 1967 pictured there.
The 1968 grill is bigger and heavier yet simpler. the GP grill is just like all the other 1968's it just has hide-away headlights.
Look up 1968 pontiac GP on Google images, and on wiki, as well as cardomain and ebay.

yeah those are nice overall i loved the Grand Ams idc what anyone thinks they were very nice and realiable cars.

I've always liked the '91's style. I find it's just really cool looking.

the 1986 Pontiac Grand Prix 2+2 aero coupe was the coolest model ever made.Richard Petty inspired NASCAR design.
it was Pontiacs version of the Monte Carlo SS.

Pontiac only made the Grand Prix convertible for one year in 1967. There was no '68.
