Yes, Brady had two hands on the football, but his hands were away from his body, the ball was away from his body. The ball must come back into the body for the ball to be succesfully tucked back into his body. Thus the tuck rule applied, and that play does support the definition of the tuck rule, but people think that it is a dumb rule. I do not. We need to keep the tuck rule in the books. That play was an incomplete pass.
Search on google "top 10 controverisal calls nfl total access", and watch Rich Eisen say that it was in fact the proper interpretation of the tuck rule then watch him spit all over the tuck rule.
@patsrule213 So all of a sudden the "proper interpretation" of a rule satisfies the common NFL fan? Cut the bullshit. If the roles were reversed, you'd be completely irate about this.
There's a reason why everyone in the country, outside of NE, knows this is bullshit. Just like everyone in the country outside of Pittsburgh knows the refs handed them Super Bowl XL.
Just admit your opinion of the tuck rule is biased because we all know it anyway.
"I admetiately yelled at the TV, "How is that an incomplete pass"
I always find it ironic that people yell and scream and destroy their TV's after their team loses a game in a devastating way because, what did the TV do to you? Is it because the TV won't argue with you or get mad at you? Maybe these people who go to great lengths when their team loses should probably stop watching sports. The tuck rule is still being talked about today, by Raider fans and myself.
That game made me more ill than any Raider game I've ever seen, even their super bowl loss to Tampa. Should've been Oakland at Pittsburgh for the AFC title game.
Thank goodness for the tuck rule. I thought ouir season was over when I was watching that play. Then I found out that the tuck rule was used against us, The date was September 23. 2001. Football had returned that week, and we were ready to play the Jets. Vinny Testaverde fumbled the ball after he was bringing it back to his body. We thought it was our ball. The referee reviewed the play and the tuck rule came into play and the Jets got the ball back. They called that play correctly.
@patsrule213 I admit the ref made the correct call, but it's still a painful loss to bear. It's like getting kicked in the groin. The Raiders had the game won until the Tuck Rule came to light. Everyone thought that call wasn't going to get overturned, including myself because the Tuck Rule wasn't that widely known until after that game. That's why the call is so controversial: very few people knew the rule existed.
Every loss is tough to bear, and the Raiders did do well against our "offense", if you can call it that. We pretty much were the Browns of 2001 until Brady came in. He improved our low powered offense into a somewhat less of a low powered offense. We made defenses look incredible that year. Losing in the playoffs on a controversial call is just terrible. Just better luck next year. Football season is right around the corner. but we have baseball also to watch.
@patsrule213 I guess I could. It would set up #1 well. Of course 1 call that I'll mention on Best of the Rest will be the Music City Miracle, since I feel after watching the overhead view of the play, any and all doubt of the call is erased. Either way, it's going to take some time before I record #1 and put it up since I have a lot of other things to do this week that will consume a lot of my time.
The "lifetime" ban that Terry McAulay had in Cleveland was lifted as Terry McAulay did the Jets-Browns game at Cleveland. I don't know if you got the game, but I just wanted to tell you that.
@patsrule213 That's good to know. I guess I can forgive McAuley now. If a team's going to lose, I'd rather see it be a clean loss than a loss tainted by controversy, whether the call was right or wrong.
even with the tuck rule, it was STILL a fumble, if you watch the video of it look at the ball and you can see that BOTH of Brady's hands were on it

@patsrule213 What a surprise. A Pats fan likes the tuck rule. I wonder why.

You should do a "best of the rest" video in which you put calls on this list that didn't quite make this list and a brief summary of the calls.

Everything went smoothly, there was no controversy at all. Remeber, they don't sell bottles anymore in Cleveland. Nothing went wrong.
