  • write**

  • I have commented on this song previously. I put it this exact version on the other night at a friends 50th on a jukebox selection. Got a great response, even from the 'we know everything' Y generation present. TRUE CLASSIC.

  • ASK YOUR DAD ABOUT THE WAR AND PEACE, AND IF HE HAS ANY IDEA WHO YOUR MOTHER IS

  • ...wonderful song- i remember when it came out- It's still bloody fantastic after all these years !

  • This song is in my top ten Aussie songs of all time.

  • Great Aussie Band

  • I remember when first being shown napstar all those years ago. I was told to name any song and I named this one. The person showing me said "You would have to name the one song I know isn't on there!"

  • best live performance video of The Sunnyboys on youtube

  • Imagine if Somebody got all the great Aussie ICON Bands together for a one off concert Chisel Angles Sunnyboys Radiators Aussie Crawl The TATTS Swanee INXS just to name a few & have it out where I went to an unreal concert in 2006 at The PUB WITH NO BEER Bowraville NSW (there's beer there) ! • @Oucluscupitumamo1 They did!!!!!!..It was the Newcastle earthquake relief concert back in '91 or whenever. The Oils, the Angels, Daddy Cool, Split Enz and heaps more. Best concert ever.

  • @raresaturn I was there....unforgettable day

  • @downunderboxing can we see you in the panned-out crowd shots?

  • If you did an all time top 10 of Oz songs and left ACDC out of it then this son would be right up there. I left school in 1981

  • @waldogheadify most of the songs would be from this period... well, on my personal top 10 list anyway...

  • @waldogheadify

u need to go back to scool ... yu faggot tu put a '/' betwee ab/cd

  • @shane69999 You are clearly a genius. Keep up the good work champ.

  • Wow this song was released before I was born.... It is an amazing song.

    Also, 2487 represent!

  • CUNT

  • nzoz 1981 how rude you were how old in the 80's? you say you were 14 in the 90's how can you comment on the music in the 80's... beep....

  • @37kema I am a spoiled fat smart arse that plays computer games and uploads aussie rock... i just think i know it all and that's all there is to it and yeah, you would have hated me back in the 80's... i was like the little fat kid from Hey Dad... get over it! :-D

  • What a great fucking tune this was (and still is)

  • Two words: Fuckin classic. Fullstop.

  • AAhhhh, the sunnyboys at the playroom, hot chicks, cold fuckin beer and biff ups. God, please, oh please, take me the fuck back...

  • @CthuluHasChannel One hit wonders, sorry.

  • @Warthogfan Bullshit.. and who's focusing on chart performance? You?

  • @nzoz1981 I was 14 inn '81, chart positition was all that mattered at that age.

  • @Warthogfan that's coz you were a teenie bopper... i was 14 in '92 and i gave up on Top 40 music :-) It was The Pixies, Sonic Youth and of course the olds....

  • @Warthogfan

One hit onders? Ignorant aren't you?

  • still love this song

  • 3 dislikes? .......who are these fools

  • Brings back some memories

  • @CthuluHasChannel there really shouldn't be a Rock 'n' Roll Hall Of Fame... there shouldn't be a Hall Of Fame for musicial expression... I'm not going to elaborate or get any further into my statement. Nobody is worthy of a Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame and the Rock 'n' Roll Hall Of Fame is not worthy of existence.

  • One of the best Aussie songs ever.

  • @MrBossninja17 Im with you brother. Great tune and no one knows of it.

  • @MrBossninja17 I agree.

  • One of the best Aussie bands ever. Seriously talented, saw them many times in various pubs. Brings back great memories from the 80's.

  • this is a REALLY GOOD live performance

  • These guys could surf too. The real thing. Something we are not used to these days

  • EARGASM

  • well, well, well if it isn't the very talented oxley bro's.crickey these boy's now how to play.seen them many of times in my younger days outstanding band .without a question one the best aussie bands the worlds ever seen or know.as smooth as poo.

  • @cabcitytow too bad here in the USA most ppl never learned of them

  • Watching you walk, you know you're really attractive.

    2487 represent!

  • Loved this band. Were they under-rated bearzzz? I lived in the middle of nowhere and saw them on Countdown. Loved them instantly, but I thought they were really successful at the time. That's my perception of the time. They were one of the first oz bands I listened to and loved. Still listen to them.

  • one of the most underated Oz bands ever! they were ACE

  • Ummm hey everyone, my name is Gabriel Burgman, if anyone is a true fan of this band than you'll know who my fathe isr.

  • @multipurposescrew and how is richard?

  • @multipurposescrew

YOUR DADS BAND WAS AMAZING ,INCREDIBLE TIMES IN SYDDEI IN 81/82

  • @multipurposescrew Good on you Gabriel. Ask your old man about his time playing with Chiris Bailey and the Saints too!

  • @multipurposescrew Congratulations - your pride is a almost a good thing. Don't trade on the reputation of your old man...it makes me squeamish

  • @dalmanation My dad told me to right the comment. Don't assume before you know the full truth, you make an ass out of yourself.

  • @multipurposescrew like I said ...don't trade on the reputation of your old man. That is the full truth, I know it and the only ass is you. Also I think you meant "write"

  • @dalmanation I corrected myself after the fact if you care to notice. And explain to me how telling you the truth is trading on the reputation of my father?

  • @dalmanation Also to explain further; I am a fifteen year old boy who lives in Canada, which I am sure you know means that I live far away from anyone who knows anything about the Sunnyboys, and I am curious to test the boundaries of my fathers reputation. Now who is the ass? It seems as though you are a man (or women) who jumps to conclusions. Do not pretend as if you know the full truth.

  • @multipurposescrew Well your Dad was in a popular rock band in the East Coast of Australia. They played good live music. I still listen to them. Whether you are testing the reputation of your Dad or not ( why? if not to make you feel good)....you are gaining from your Father's reputation. I am I right?. I personally find that uncomfortable. I can't say it any other way and I don't need to call names. If you really want to know, just listen to the music and decide yourself

  • @dalmanation Well you are not right since everything you say is an assumption with absolutely no proof. You have no relationship to either me or my father so you have no idea what our family dynamic is. You have no idea what the circumstances surrounding the original comment are so you can not say with certainty that I am trying to make myself feel good.To say otherwise would just be repeating yourself. Also you called me an ass as well so that side of your argument is without meaning.

  • sounds great, mate of mine told me about ye, hello from Donegal,Ireland

  • awesome song.................80s allover

  • One of the greatest bands from that era out of Sydney...loved these guys and the Flaming Hands...saw both as often as possible...wish I'd seen them more!

  • Loved hearing this on Underbelly.

  • Comment removed

  • imagine you are in year 1981 and you listen to this song. HOLY FAQ!

  • @TheEndlessNote Thank you, & we did, Midnight Oil & Skyhooks both played as well... :-)

  • My all time favourite song is of course Sunnyboys - Alone with you! Unfortunately I was only 8 years of age when it came out.

MrJemox and 012thebear, how did you go with the flooding there?

  • Good tune, definitely influenced by Gary Lewis & Playboys 1965 hit "without a word of warning /watch?v=DOfUPITRZ9M

  • @rayallin i wouldn't be surprised if they grabbed fragments of that tune... they were smart guys and knew their music...

  • @rayallin

It absolutely sounds like something from the '60's

I am nostaglic for the 80's and an 80's tune that channels the 60's- briiliant!

  • @rayallin They have obviously grabbed the best bits. Like the Beatles and the best song writers all do

  • mooloolaba pub the 80's ah yer , luv your channel

  • ace!

  • San Miguel rocked

  • all time fave Aussie band.....!! way ahead of their time too!!

  • I heard this song on triple j the other day and thought it was a new song!

    How embarrassing...

  • @olivem03 No! Not embarrassing at all... that goes to show, how some songs are so great that they are TIMELESS... blessings.

  • love it

  • Irrespective of the press...this band remains one of the most influential in Australia's history for musicians, and should be regarded alongside AC/DC, Midight Oil, and Cold Chisel (in no particular order)

  • Classic line; "Watching you walk, you know you are really attractive". You would not hear such a line in music today. Sort of gentlemanly.

  • Was there ever a clip for 'Seeker'? Very cool song...

  • This has to be the best band never to had made it big time. They were before their time.

  • A fucking cracker-of the shithouse bands that reform this is one I'd see again in a New York minute-I see that Jeremy has posted a comment here about not getting The SBs back together and while I understand it, I wish it weren't the case. Thanks for the gigs I saw and the great music you gave to all of us.

  • Christ this is a fucking fave song-saw them in 1981 in the uni bar-a fucking kick arse gig. Love em.

  • Wow, I saw these guys play a few times at the old Playroom on the Gold Coast in the early 80's . . . absolutely some of the best nights ever !!!!!!! . . .

  • 3:20 - 3:40 Great mobile ringtone!!!

  • i'm having a year 9 moment.....

  • where is the last film clip you made

  • i remember listening to this when i was about 8.

    a good 10 years ago now =]

  • wish i could get the band together one more time...but it was a labour of love and it's a shithouse life style anyway... i'm better off now with my family

  • @MrJemox - know f all about the band, but the music's stayed with for 20-ish years. Bugger new versions, it is what it is and it's GOOD!

  • Nzoz does it again, another classic I still wanna bring a 2TB drive round one night dude!

I'd go back to the 80's and stay there if I could...

MTV was just a simple show with simple videos of AWESOME songs. It was shown on 1 channel in Aussie, it rocked, had real music ALL night till dawn. We would all go back to my joint and watch tunes till dawn drinkin beers that are no longer around. We did this 3-4 nights a week for something like 12 years+.

    I miss those simple days

  • @truespyfan thanx very much for the comment. Totally agree!

  • @nzoz1981 Always... You have the most amazing connection to old Aussie rock.. How I dont know, but I'm flamming glad you do! used to sit at work listening to NZOZ all yrs until manager made me block it :(

  • @truespyfan lol, now that's funny!

  • Comment removed

  • @tanzietiger ...Jeremy strongly denies this. He strongly denies ever touching heroin or any injectable drugs. He lived alone in Crystal St..... your comment is untrue and misleading and should be removed..

  • @tanzietiger Hi Tanya, Jeremy here. I remember you.we had a 3 week spell, hardly"lived with for a year"... i never did drugs with the huxton creepers..i just drank lots of beer..i am just clearing this matter up.

  • @MrJemox Hey Jeremy, Arch Law here!! You are spot on, fond memories of a great time and we were all far too interested in seeing how much beer we could drink to get into anything else. In Sydney these days with a couple of kids keeping me on a straight line and maybe a chance of some Creepers gigs later in the year which would be cool. Take care mate and hope all is well on the coast!!

  • @MrJemox Jeremy, your brother makes great pizza.. cheers

  • thanks for posting. i used to see these guys all the time around sydney and i always wondered about jeremy. there was something special about him

  • Beautiful live version with the harmonies and killer guitar! Thanks, nzoz. Where's the footage from? Nightmoves?

  • Beautiful live version with the harmonies! Thanks, nzoz. Where's this footage from? Nightmoves?

  • This was the first Aus song I bought after migrating there from Scotland in 1981. I was there at the last gig at the Graphic Arts Club. Great night, great band...really sad about jeremy....get well mate.

  • @JockRonayne

Was the 1st song I ever heard in 1981 after emigrating here from England also 14 yrs old. We'd just landed I was a young Mod and heard this on 2sm and I thought to myself it may just be ok and it was. Thank you Jeremy for penning such a fab song to start with but one that still conjures up wonderful memories both happy and sad. Bless you xx

  • I was only newly married living at Palm Beach, but when the boys were playing down at the Playroom I had to sneak out to watch them. They were that good. Cheers guys!!!

  • 1981, I was 21 y.o. this is one of my old time favourite songs, miss you so much boys!!!!!!!

  • Yesderday ( april 6th) Max did a top 50 of "Australian rock songs" and this song was on the countdown not once but twice thats how good it is ;)

  • I remember back in 1982 when they played at Tweed River High School in the quadrangle. Best lunch time eva!

  • I saw them lots of times. they were a great live band,so much energy and great musicians. Jeremey never seemed comfortable with the adulation and the screaming fans, when they were rocking he really seemed happy but sometimes in his face it seemed a bit...well I don't know anyway we have these songs. Thanks for that

  • one of the greatest endings

  • Good vocal control and well mixed track.

  • last time i saw jeremy oxley was lying flat on his back, semi naked, on the floor of the sydney trade union club. After that, we all ended up partying with Died Pretty and he had a mouthful of champagne and was dripping it drop by drop, from his mouth onto my boots. I secretly thought it was really horny, but my husband could have killed him

  • Interesting story, I was drinking with Jeremy one night at the Trade Union on Foveaux St. when he told me he needed to go to the toilet and stay right where I was. I turned around about a minute later and Jeremy was... relieving himself in the corner. Since it was about 3:30am, I'm not sure how many other people noticed.

I'm sure I carried him and his brother Peter out of Trade Union about 3 times... Christ they were heavy bastards!

    Good times!

  • the best of times!!!

  • I saw The Sunnyboys in the late '80s (I think it was already a reunion tour?) in Brisbane. I loved them; one of my favourite Aus bands of that era. Had an insane crush on Jeremy...didn't we all?

  • Jeremy was my neighbour for a while. He was a really nice guy. The Sunnyboys were a great band.

  • What an awesome band, some of the best music ever came out of australia started in the 80s - The Sunny Boys, The Church, The Triffids, The Go-Betweens, Hoodoo Gurus etc etc

  • um...AC/DC...

  • AC/DC came out in the 70's

  • oh...well then what about crowded house INXS midnight oil men at work then?

  • The list is endless... I know this because 'nzoz1981' is only just the 1981 chapter of Australasian music... if you go to my channel's mainpage, you'll find links to the previous year and the next year.

  • @markbotv3 dude Sunnyboys were soo much before all those you mention except maybe the Oils, but they were pretty much underground then as well, different time era and attitude :-) but all those you mentioned were good too:-)

  • YES...

  • I saw them at the QLD Uni refectory in 1981-really a very good band.

  • ZZZ Joint Effort. Saw 'em around the same time meself. Very damn good.

  • awesome song !!

  • When these guys were "on" they were fantastic live band. Saw them one night at a pub in Nthn Sydney and they ripped and teared the place apart. Other times not so great. Very talented a crying shame re Jeremy's illness.

  • Whats happened to jeremy? He was my neighbour.

  • @friendlyovertones He turned into a Razz...much nicer

  • Hard to resist this anecdote: We (The BUZZ) were ripping in to Alone With You at practice, when a bloke poked his head in the door. He had an enormous grin on his dial. After the song, he reminisced how he used to (1980ish in Sydney) buy a pizza every Friday night and walk home past the Sunny Boys practice venue. He heard Alone With You become the song we know. 28 years later, he was walking home (in Kyogle, NSW) with his pizza and .......... :) Great song.

  • Saw these guys dozens of times back then. Still have the yellow vinyl release of the first album ! One of my inspirations to play guitar and write songs. Thanks guys.

  • No doubt about I am also a '65 drop and our age ROCKED with some of the best bands and rock n roll ever.

I am still a fan of The Angels, Radiators, ACDC etc

  • jeremy had problems with booze and all the shit that goes with it....

  • actually, he was scizophrenic... not so much a prob with booze

  • Great music,

we all have to live with the cards life has dealt us.

  • Some nice person upload Love in a Box, now that a slow and groovy Sunnyboy's song.

  • I'm a lucky bastard, born 1965. Sunnyboys and Spy v Spy are two of my favourite bands ever. Lucky!!!!!

  • '64 model myself and ditto!!! we had the best music ever!!! saw both bands so many times never better than at the (cabbage) Patch, Coolangatta :-)

  • I was also born in 1965. Great Band The Sunny's. Saw them at their farewell tour in 1991 at The General Bourke Hotel Parramatta. So much fun and memories.

  • I grew up in Kingscliff, NSW, where the Oxley boys hale from. I saw them countless times at the Grand pacific hotel and in Murwillumbah. What a time, what a band and what memories

  • I heard this song in while watching underbelly. Do you know why the band split?

  • Jeremy had problems. Read previous comments.

  • @nzoz1981 J is doing really well and is happy. He has a family and is in Qld. Look out for the new J.O website coming out soon

  • @012thebear

Really, really good to hear, thanks Bear.

  • @012thebear That's fantastic news about Jeremy.

Any hope in the future for a Sunny's reunion or small tour???

  • @wha65 Don't think so.. everyone is doing their own thing now and playing in different bands and all have kiddies. Keep your eye out though... t'shirts coming soon....

  • @012thebear Thanks for that and i will cheers.

I got to see them at their farewell tour, at The General Bourke Hotel Parramatta in 1991. That was a big buzz and great memories. I'm about Jeremy's age and i don't think he really knows how much, his songs connected with people of his era.

  • Comment removed

  • @tanzietiger Hi Tanzietiger, J and I live in QLD and have 2 boys. He has not done substances for many years nor does he drink anymore.Still playing music, painting and doing normal family stuff.. Life is good.

  • Comment removed

  • saw the lads on the papal tour at the band club in st marys, saw em again on the resureccution tour same club, love em

  • sure do wish I had have seen them...

  • yea they were great there songs remind me of the early eightees ,

  • Jeremy was the complete package. Great voice, great guitarist and great songwriter. He wasn't theatrical like Doc Neeson, Peter Garrett or Jimmy Barnes, but had that X factor that commanded your attention through his passion of music. He also had a cheeky grin on stage like his brother Peter on bass. I was 2 years younger than Jeremy and in my late teens when they were still together. I marvelled at his capacity to be so articulate at such a young age. His guitar work on Let You Go is amazing.

  • Thank you countryleaves a fair and just coment un like that Idiot Moparmal who thinks he might know and to his small brain has no idea i was the camera person that evening one of 5 ok

  • The KNOB that produced this video missed most of the guitar solo that proves Oxley was one of the best Rock guitarists Australia has ever produced. Putting the cameras on his brother during that solo was a mark of clear stupidity!

You can just catch Jeremy twiddling the tone dial to get a phased sound to the sustained notes if you watch closely.

  • These guys were so cool, I saw them first at a 3XY $3.10 cent concert, does anyone remember the 3XY $3.10cent concerts? Saw INXS at one in about '79?

  • Jeremy Oxley, bless him and the other sunnyboys, this is one of your innocent masterpieces. Many many thanks to NZOZ1981 for putting this on YouTube.

    Countryleaves, but not always.

  • no worries ;-)

I first heard this song years ago on Radio Free Europe in Czechoslovakia. I love it - timeless Australian classic!! Sexy sound... Aussie music rocks!

  • nice stuff.

  • Saw these guys at the NSWIT bar in 1981 when I first entered Uni. What a buzz.

  • from underbelly

  • Sunday nights at Mortadle, Stgeorge Budapest ......1981

  • newcastle, cute guys and lots of southern comfort-what a great time for music

  • WHAT A GREAT BAND

  • yeahhh, im a fan and a musician, we used to play heaps of sunnyboys songs, girls use to love them.

i got into a fight with a person from another school at a sunnyboys concert, what a time. what antoher life

  • All you negatives those were the 80s in sydney U HAD TO BE THERE....

  • What are you writing about? You make no sense!

Are you for, or anti nooeylovefriend's comment? "U HAD TO BE THERE" Hopefully if I was there I would have taken less drugs than you and would remain coherent twenty eight years later!

  • hahahahaha u seem to amaze me with your comment an labelin me bein on drugs DO YOU PERSONALY KNOW ME? coz i dont know you..it was a comment to someone that has been removed.but why should i justify myself to someone like you who labels and judges.man you must be depressed or bored..GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT.
