My whole life resumed in 25:xx minutes... My Universe, My spirit, everything is this, and this is nothing at the same time. There's no time and space when i hear this but my microcosmos.
For the ones who call it boring: You're supposed to listen to the whole album - and LATE AT NIGHT ! Varg has stated that he creates his albums as a spell, first track to make you acceptable, the following tracks for you to slowly go into trance and the last track to make you dream.... Its created this way intentionally so cut the crap please, it's an awesome concept. (bla bla for the ones who already know this / read wikipedia)
I love this song. I've heard this thousand times but I never get tired to this. When I hear this song I became so relax and I want to go sleep... This song is magical...
The simplicity of this song gives that catching touch in my view, i think this is one of the greatets hits from Vikernes, and it's my favorite song, it takes me out from this World and puts me in my own mental forest. (Srry for my bad eng)
i cant descripe how much this song gives me,it's perfect get off releality song / relax song,as my old gf said, this is "whale song" it kinda makes you think this just be "whale" singing, anyways this is the best song ever to fall a sleep / relax, thanks Varg for making amazing music <3
this piece has some good ideas, but i thought it was too long in 96, and i feel the exact same way, even though i've grown to love minimalism. This, IMO, isn't an example of good minimalism. It takes far too long to develop, and there isn't enough variation or subtlely in the melody to hold my attention for long.
There just isn't enough substance to it. cut the track down by half, and add a few more ideas and it's a definite winner.
i first heard Burzum at a friends house, and the song was dunkelheit. I liked it because it made me think and i thought the melody was so sick. Burzum is more than just a black metal band. Vargs a fucking genius
@skatetolovemetal, as much as I enjoy Burzum's music, you might think twice before calling him a genius if you listen to his interviews. He contradicts his idealogies a lot and at one point referred to metal as "nigger music." He is a unique and wonderful musician but his beliefs are half-baked.
I'd swear ive listened to this song millions of times in games, it reminds me of so much, and yet is so unique...it brings about an extremely nostalgic feeling for me...
Dark ambient for me is thinking music, much like the younger and evil twin of classical music. I am doing an essay as I listen to this. Burzum is great man.
I heard it on a video this song, but before it began I hear a voice;" You want demons ? The only thing you will taste today is your own blood." is that part of the song ?
I love the Filosofem vocals. :) I feel it's more appropriate for the style... Take Dunkelheit for instance, it's not a song about hate or anger like songs like War were... it's a sad, nostalgic song, looking back to the days of old in the year ~1000 Norway. It isn't vehement anti-christian themed where the more angry, savage vocals are preferred over these slightly more inanquished vocals. Just my thoughts anyway. :) But I love his old vocals too for those songs.
i guess i agreed with you, im just saying that maybe (for example) jesus tod would be great with the old vocals but anyway this cd is great and the song is awsome
mm that's a good point actually, I do agree with that one. :) Jesu dod/Jesus' tod in English is Jesus' death, so that's the one more hateful or angry rather than sad, pagan/norsk, or nature-orientated songs. :)
dunkelheit was actully the 1st song he ever composed and mad by himself he dosnt like how the "philosophy" album represent the "new" burzum sound to people, but i agree with some of what you say its more melancholic then anger this would be hes second best album"hvis lysett tar oss" is the 1st and i believe is the best album in existence...
You could hear Burzum finding it's own sound on this cd. Older Burzum style music and vocals were great but it wasn't much different from Darkthrone or some of the others. Varg's vocals are much better on this cd.
holy shit lol, didn't expect to see that name on a burzum song upload!
Trent Acid as in Johnny Kashmere's partner, yes? old CZ Dub days, and then his embarassing drug addicted PWU days, and apparently a very unexpected CZW return.
i like the songs of filosofem album, but i hate varg vikernes for his obnoxious kind and his nonreflective declaration. he is a dumb racist, only a racist is able to make sense of such bullshit! go to hell, or die in your die in your prisoncell.
this is one of his songs that make me fill like im in space or, traveling, or like you know the movies how some times, there is like a scene then its just playing like this type of music
I agree, he has some beliefs in Pagan mythology which some people call a blanket for racism.
Even so, I find him an interesting character, even if a little dangerous. I would love to see a documentary on him now. Plus a sequel to Filosofem would be classic. :-)
Amazing song, one of the best darkwave /ambient I have ever heard.

I agree, I feel like this song could have been so much more. It feels lazy, like your just looping the same part over and over.
It still has a great sound though and I do listen to it to relax.
