Getting the settings right for this song is fucking hard. I'm trying to recreate all the synths in FL Studio so I can do a decent cover of it and it's doing my head in. I've already got Rory's guitar tone on lock down and all the other instrumentation is covered... But see those synths? Rou can fuck off. Hah.
@Nexus1010 i think maybe he means raise it by a few semitones, see if you run it all through a laptop or pc as its going, and say run it through cubase/nuendo or pro tool (cubase/nuendo is the better option as you dont need to use an m-box) and theres an option on the side to raise or lower the pitch by however much you want, also that way you could add compressors or delay etc etc, in my opinion that is the only way youl get your sounds as close to shikari as possible
@spacemanjames 'run it all through a laptop or pc as its going' - what does this even mean? why do I need to run it through one of these programs when I can just raise the pitch as and when I feel so? Raising the pitch changes the key and I have it in the right key, all thats wrong is the sound. Why would i want to add delay to the 2nd sound when Rou uses none? And you can clearly hear my strings have delay. All in all, your comments pretty strange as its nothing to do with the track itself.
@Nexus1010 i just meant in general man :) wasnnt a dig or anything, just cos id heard elsewhere that rou uses a computer whith all his equipment while performing to get some of the tones and effects that arent featured on the emx n all that ( dont get me wrong your stuff sounds incredible and i admire the fact that your keeping it purely to hardware) i dont actually know what the point in my comment was tbh lol

Yeah, you need another oscillator a 5th above.
skinnerplaysdrums 5 months ago
all that's needed is the harmony octave of the same synth over it :)

An octave too low but sounds ok
jelley17guitar 8 months ago
octaves dont need to be higher man you just need to add 5ths to the notes to create the dubstep feel :)

Good attempt, as other people have said the section section needs to be a higher pitch.

@spacemanjames Im not using just hardware on this - and Rou is using Ableton to create these synths.
