Just watched one of the episodes. It is a bit dated, from 2004, but it is a change from what I usually watch. Have seen about a dozen of them so far. Really don't like that Mr. Large guy but the rest of the case is nice particularly Caroline Catz.

We never see him smiling in the "Doc Martin" series. The difference is night and day! I love his character, and love the real Martin Clunes. A gifted actor in a series that is refreshing, fun and funny.

Get his book "A Dog's Life" in which he tells about his early life and his love of dogs. A good read, sometimes hilarious and sometimes sad. He tells about Gremlin, the shaggy haired dog who followed Doc Martin around in the first two seasons. Sadly, Gremlin died in 2007. Unlike Doc Martin's character, Martin Clunes loved this dog. In his book, he describes that they had to film Martin screaming at Gremlin with no sounds, then they recorded his screaming.

Have just started watching Doc Martin on Oregon Public Broadcasting and I just love it!!!! It is such a great show and Martin Clunes is great in the part!!! I want to try to get the episodes on DVD. I just wanted to see Martin as himself so I thought I would come here. He is so great!!!!!!

Don't know what to say other than this series is excellent.

Because of initial unavailability in the States, I bought the series from Australia and jiggered my DVD player to be region free.

Pox on those bastards region-coding. Additional benefit: Getting materiel from the originating country avoids the editing done for the bible-belt assholes in the good old US of A. Tragedy that civil war here. Tragic we didn't let them secede.
