Jon Hogan OWNS this song. I was there that night, and was blown away, and it's hard for me to get excited about musicians these days. The other night, I contemplated doing "Lungs" at the Townes Wake, but quickly ixnayed that notion once I saw Mr. Hogan there.
Maybe you've got to see him perform live to "get" him, but I'm not sure that's the case, as I have his "Oil Town" record and it is absolutely incredible.
Townes' songs are all about the words, he ommitted most of them and slaughtered the rest. Its like a car crash with the car full of guitars. Over the top and down the bank.
Um, this was actually pretty cool. I just listened to another couple of TVZ covers from the the same set, and I wasn't impressed.

This guy's pronunciation and emphasis absolutely kills the song. And not in a good way.
