Lmfao, you guys are FUCKING MORONS!! Who GIVES a rat's ass which band "sold out" and which band didn't? Grow the fuck up, idiots. It's about the music. That's all that matters. It's not like their fucking message changed. I agree, you guys probably wouldn't of even heard of these guys if they didn't sign a record deal! They did this to get their fucking message across, and it's working. So shut the fuck up you ignorant pricks.
Rise against and anti flag signed a record deal, i bet most people saying they sold out wouldn't have heard of them without that its not like their message or personalities if you go to their smaller shows theyre still the same people, their sound has changed over time because the times, problems, and world and they have become new people with those changes
@llGuitarll just wondering but how did green day sell out? The true meaning of "selling out" means you gave up one belief for amount of money. Green day never did that. green day has just changed their style of punk their more pop punk now.
@sbritt1994 A lot of people think they did that solely to make more money. Which is possible. It's also possible to just become more that way naturally I suppose.
I do like the fact that they maintain their old studio in one of the worse parts of the city they started off in, but 21st Century Breakdown was still pretty awful.
why whenever i read the comments of an anti flag vid is a bunch of idiots bickering over something really stupid like selling out or being hypocritical. morons
@arsonaarin34243424 A band that sells out is not one that talks about something different. A band that sells out is keeps saying the same thing over and over again because they know it will sell.
I didn't realize "punks" shared so much in common with elitist hipsters. I guess it would preferable were Anti-flag to record with a 4-track. Improving their songwriting, production, and gaining greater exposure is apparently a bad thing. Why? Because for some punks the message isn't of greatest importance. Rather, they derive pleasure from being different. Now, I'm all for being counter-cultural, but narcissism and preoccupation with self/image isn't.
their sound didn't even really change except for a few tracks off Bright Lights. Blood and Empire was brilliant and People or the Gun was maybe the best they've ever made....they're the only good punk band left.....keep it up guys!
All you stupid idiots are crying EVERYTIME a band puts out a new record, all of you fuckin' kiddies keep complaining about everything and everyone, GET A FUCKING LIFE! Great music, if you don't like it, then piss off and listen to other stuff.
People saying that anti-flag did NOT sell out should stop kissing ass. They DID sell out! Look at A New Kind Of Army and then The Bright Lights of America. ankoa was the shit but tbloa fucking blows hard. Hopefully their next independent label album sounds like their old stuff. and yea, The People Or The Gun was better than this and i do know that its on an independent label, but hopefully their next album will reach back down to the old days. tpotg sounds more like their old stuff but not quite
I'm not going to suck up at all here, but they haven't. The only way a band could sell out is if they lose the meaning in their message. So they've changed up their sound a bit, who cares? They took the risk of signing to RCA and they didn't like it. Mistakes happen, get over it and get back into the music. They're a lot older than they were in Their System Doesn't Work For You and all that jazz, so they changed their sound. I admit the older AF sound a helluva lot better, but it's still them.
what they did was sacrifice a small part of their ideals(signing to RCA) for a short period of time to get their message to more people....i say its worth it
Why are people complaining about them jumping to Sony? They barely made any money out of it! Otherwise they wouldn't have appealed to their fans to donate to help Justin Sane's nephew... So clearly the albums weren't sold out... Not to mention the fact that they just wanted to get their message out. Now just enjoy the music and stop complaining!
Anti-Flag never sold out, they signed with a major record label to get their message out to more people, and they're as punk as ever, their sound is just maturing, punk isnt a sound, go look up the lyrics to their new music, it's still anti-government, anti-capitilism, anti-communism, they stand for freedom, no matter how they sound it's all about freedom, thats what "punk" is, is the search for freedom in a so-called "free" country.
but see in my opinion you cant say that they're anti capitalist beacause they signed to a capitalist record company. i love anti flag and always will but you cant preach anti consumerism and then make money working with sony owned RCA records.
I'm completely against consumerism, yet I work for a company that is based on consumers, just because they signed with the label doesnt mean they support what that label stands for, sometimes you have to do what you dont want to do to survive, you have to make an income somehow to put a roof over your head and food on the table, thats all these guys are doing
Um I can easily listen to music else where smart ass this is just more convenient (excuse my spelling) ^^ Anyways that's why I said in the description because not everyone can understand what they're saying (me) so it would be nice if they could at least have it there .
people say they sold out cause they signed with a major label, what people dont hear is the only reason they signed is cause they were able to get a contract that says the label has no say in anything they do, they just get to put there name on it and sell it,
I second 21ricky666, plus think about how differeent this song is then the other songs...this one has a lot of meaning to Chris #2, different from the other stuff they have wrote

I'm stupid when you're the one who can't even spell? 1 I don't think his sister died in Iraq. I'm pretty sure his sister and brother-in-law were mugged and got killed (The benefit for victims of violent crime cd). 2 There are a few lyrical lines refering to a father. It could be about both, but ignorance and arrogance aren't a good combination..douche.
#2s dad really is a convicted child molester, his sister is dead, and his brother is a drug dealer. in an interview he says that was what to the song was about... all the hard stuff in his life he never told anyone... i think it was the interview on the issue oriented podcast..
i don't care if you believe it or not,but if it means that much to you, check out my myspace page. there is a pic of chris and his wife at my daughter's baptism...they are her god parents
sorry, there's just alot of people who say they know bands when they don't. If you accually are his brother that's awesome! Chris is one of my heros, he's a way better bassist than he gets credit for
everybody seriously show some fucking respect!!! this song is about the murder of her sister last year...they are not sell outs...just because they got onto a better label so they can supply the music to us isnt selling out...just because they are more popular isnt selling out!! selling out is putting ur music on movies and taking money out of everyones pockets...they are the most popular punk band around right now and they're concert tickets are like $17 and theyre cds are about the same price
umm just because it has one line about his father doesnt mean its about his father......... Vices- In early 2007 Chris #2's sister and her boyfriend were murdered, but in time, this tragedy eventually became a hugely inspiring event. "Vices" is a direct result of the kindness and support of the people who surround our band: the music community, our friends and our families. We wrote it with the hope that in some small way people will find some solace in its words.
umm...there is more than one line about his father. I have not spoken to chris about the song. I see more of his father feelings about his father in this song, than the death of our sister.
so is all of it true what they say!! you know about his sister and stuff cause im a huge fan of A-F but due to distance (i live in a other country) i dont hear much of it!
This might be a rude question but are they still going to LOWLANDS (in the netherlands) cause its the first time ill see them live and i quess it will be the only time!!!
yes, it is true about our sister. not sure about Lowlands....it's hard to talk to him when he's on tour....they are always busy. just check their web site for updates.
yeah, these new songs arn't as good, but they're still good. i guess i can agree. they've changed lots, but i dont think they're falling into the mainstream or anything, and i dont think they're selling out or anything....
well to me they changed alot. they used to sing how underground they were but wat about now.. their stilla great band but i just dont like it that they changed alot.
ANTI-FLAG DID NOT SELL OUT! They have been approached by many major recored labels over the past 7 or 8 years and they always turned them down. Untill RCA gave them complete freedom. Also because of the change their cd's are manufactured in the countries they are sold. Making it cheaper and easier for fans to buy. They switched to RCA to be heard on a larger scale to get their message out. & they're still singing about important issues...not how shiny their rims are.
anti-flag is a sell out now. i used to be a fan but now it's fucking stupid. and people who dont agree with me than u guys are retarded. and i bet i'm going to have tons of negative points. o well
Honestly, can you explain to me why you think they're sellouts? Signing to a major label doesn't mean you're a sell out unless you send all your morals to hell after you sign with them which Anti-flag clearly didn't do.
They really don't sound that different. I respect your opinionif you don't like the newer style but it really isn't that different and different doesn't necessarily mean bad. But I have to agree that Green day were way better in the 90s. Still Anti-Flag is far from Green Day in terms of being mainstream.
how? i dont get how they're now a sell out. they're not a sell out. and if u dont like them anymore, why do u point out shit about them on they're songs. if u dont like they're music; dont listen 2 it.
well first thing it's my choice whether to say wat i want and second it's my oppinion whether i think their sell out and plus i still listen to them but not their new songs. if u need anymore question u should read the stuff i commented back! it tells u why i posted wat i said..
Na punkseeker, your right. If they didn't sell out with the contract they kinda did with their music. The only reason ppl are saying they didn't sell out is bc their popular now. So all the mainstream kids are defending them,
Real fans know Real anit-flag. but I do like this song.

this is probably my other favorite song off the album. This whol album has a new feel, but it's cool they're taking their music in a slightly different direction.
"Anti-Flag does not mean Anti-American. Anti-Flag means anti-war. Anti-Flag means the common people of the world are better off living in unity and peace. Anti-Flag means to stand against corporate greed that hurts millions while benefitting a handful of extremely rich. Anti-Flag means to fight against mindless nationalism. Anti-Flag means unity."
i know people knock them for their politics being too obvious and not very witty but i think that was something that helped them and it seems as if the new songs through lacking that have lost out

everybody seriously show some fucking respect!!! this song is about the murder of her sister last year...they are not sell outs...just because they got onto a better label so they can supply the music to us isnt selling out...just because they are more popular isnt selling out!! selling out is putting ur music on movies and taking money out of everyones pockets...they are the most popular punk band around right now and they're concert tickets are like $17 and theyre cds are about the same price

listen again. the song is about his father.
mlaw006 3 years ago
ya it rlly is bout his father.
thatgrlfromnj 3 years ago
umm just because it has one line about his father doesnt mean its about his father......... Vices- In early 2007 Chris #2's sister and her boyfriend were murdered, but in time, this tragedy eventually became a hugely inspiring event. "Vices" is a direct result of the kindness and support of the people who surround our band: the music community, our friends and our families. We wrote it with the hope that in some small way people will find some solace in its words.
jeremymcgrew21 3 years ago
umm...there is more than one line about his father. I have not spoken to chris about the song. I see more of his father feelings about his father in this song, than the death of our sister.
mlaw006 3 years ago
are you family of chris of Anti-Flag??
medion911ddd 3 years ago
yeah,he's my brother
mlaw006 3 years ago
ok!!
so is all of it true what they say!! you know about his sister and stuff cause im a huge fan of A-F but due to distance (i live in a other country) i dont hear much of it!
This might be a rude question but are they still going to LOWLANDS (in the netherlands) cause its the first time ill see them live and i quess it will be the only time!!!
take care!!
medion911ddd 3 years ago
yes, it is true about our sister. not sure about Lowlands....it's hard to talk to him when he's on tour....they are always busy. just check their web site for updates.
mlaw006 3 years ago

thanks!

r0ckin0utIr3land 3 years ago 2
it isnt political if thats what you mean.
AquaSka753 3 years ago
yeah, these new songs arn't as good, but they're still good. i guess i can agree. they've changed lots, but i dont think they're falling into the mainstream or anything, and i dont think they're selling out or anything....
kayawtique 3 years ago 8
well to me they changed alot. they used to sing how underground they were but wat about now.. their stilla great band but i just dont like it that they changed alot.
punkseeker900 3 years ago
ANTI-FLAG DID NOT SELL OUT! They have been approached by many major recored labels over the past 7 or 8 years and they always turned them down. Untill RCA gave them complete freedom. Also because of the change their cd's are manufactured in the countries they are sold. Making it cheaper and easier for fans to buy. They switched to RCA to be heard on a larger scale to get their message out. & they're still singing about important issues...not how shiny their rims are.

kayawtique 3 years ago
good song:]
kayawtique 3 years ago 4
anti-flag is a sell out now. i used to be a fan but now it's fucking stupid. and people who dont agree with me than u guys are retarded. and i bet i'm going to have tons of negative points. o well
punkseeker900 3 years ago
Honestly, can you explain to me why you think they're sellouts? Signing to a major label doesn't mean you're a sell out unless you send all your morals to hell after you sign with them which Anti-flag clearly didn't do.
XoXBlackFuryXoX 3 years ago
well they sound different thats one they were way better back in the days. their making the same mistake greenday made a few years ago.
punkseeker900 3 years ago
They really don't sound that different. I respect your opinionif you don't like the newer style but it really isn't that different and different doesn't necessarily mean bad. But I have to agree that Green day were way better in the 90s. Still Anti-Flag is far from Green Day in terms of being mainstream.
XoXBlackFuryXoX 3 years ago 2
well yea to me they sound different but it's mostley my oppinion i guess. well to many they sound no different. their stilla good band tho
punkseeker900 3 years ago
how? i dont get how they're now a sell out. they're not a sell out. and if u dont like them anymore, why do u point out shit about them on they're songs. if u dont like they're music; dont listen 2 it.
kayawtique 3 years ago
well first thing it's my choice whether to say wat i want and second it's my oppinion whether i think their sell out and plus i still listen to them but not their new songs. if u need anymore question u should read the stuff i commented back! it tells u why i posted wat i said..

Na punkseeker, your right. If they didn't sell out with the contract they kinda did with their music. The only reason ppl are saying they didn't sell out is bc their popular now. So all the mainstream kids are defending them,
Real fans know Real anit-flag. but I do like this song.

the quote at the end of the song is longer than that and it belongs at the beginning of "the modern rome burning", not here.

agh why is there name still anti-flag???
AquaSka753 3 years ago
"Anti-Flag does not mean Anti-American. Anti-Flag means anti-war. Anti-Flag means the common people of the world are better off living in unity and peace. Anti-Flag means to stand against corporate greed that hurts millions while benefitting a handful of extremely rich. Anti-Flag means to fight against mindless nationalism. Anti-Flag means unity."

i know people knock them for their politics being too obvious and not very witty but i think that was something that helped them and it seems as if the new songs through lacking that have lost out
