im making out of white oak and then using a darker wood for the seat and back. any suggestions for the darker wood?

@stefono62 Cedar might be a nice choice. It is used quite often for out door furniture because it is fairly resistant to the elements. Just make sure to pre-drill any holes before you screw or nail them into place.
