i think he actually gave his mum depression by messing around with the baby to make it cry in the same way he had cried excessively when he was a baby. It is a critical period when the Mum has a new born to care for and she seemed to have depression when Joshua was born which may have helped contribute to his craziness. It's good to get off to a good start in any relationship rather than getting off on the wrong foot.

Actually, he's Sociopathic, not Psychopathic. And the 'deeper' meanign was that Joshua, was in effect ab ubused in the way his parents didn't pay him enough attention and kept trying to tur him into someone else. This resulted him being disturbed.

The way Joshua acted was no excuse for his behavior. The way he planned things really made me wonder how old he truly is. Well they didn't really say how the dog was killed. the dog just died. when the dad was watching the video nothing really happened cept joshua was video taping himself shaking the baby until she cried.

It's just assumed Joshua did it to see his dad's reaction and figue out his curiosity about death/wish to control death to a degree. But it can also be assumed te dog just died naturally and Joshua used it to his advantage. But he was the last oe to walk the dog and feed it.

In the film it was mentioned about Seth how he was bad and good. Joshua is a smart, sensitive, perfectly normal kid. He fights along, he doesn't judge nobody, he just wants to be loved. What matters is nobody can see his sad way of gainin things. Nobody seems to care he's there.

I mean... I thought the movie was oober creepy... then at the end... I got it... It was almost surreal. It made me say, "Oh my God." Almost in a "really??" sort of way... The boy was clever in every sense, and again, I get why he did what he did. Do I support it? No... of course not, but everyone needs to be loved. He just had a sadistic way of gaining it. If you develop a good relationship with an older person when you are young it can help you develop positively and be a resilient human being. It's in Psychology texts.

The song at the end says it all. He only ever wanted to be wth his Uncle. His uncle never tried to change Joshua the way his dad always was trying to change him. Ad whe Joshua told his parets he loved them, they stared blakly back. Joshue belives/thinks his Uncle would never do that.

i didn't see his Dad trying to change him? When Josh wanted to cease soccer Daddy was keen to help him find an alternative. There was no special bond with the uncle. It sounded more like Joshua was quoting some romantic movie or something when he uttered words to his uncle at the end. It reflects that he doesn't have true feelings for other human beings and just copies what he sees. He fakes emotions like when he saw his Dad crying over the dog that the boy (Joshua) had poisoned / killed.
