  • Earth wind water fire heaven they all harmonize

  • 7 people can't handle the stache.

  • Those harmonies are unworldly.

  • these guys make me cream my jeans in every way.

  • @ChadWilliams5000 you wouldnt happen to have a brother? jaret?

  • who knew the Sheriff from Twilight could play guitar and sing?

  • Wide Eyes = no words can describe this songs beauty. oh to see it with my own eyes.

  • How could anyone dislike this??! This is pure talent!

  • Well they may look like homeless hipsters (especially the bass player), but they are good.

  • His Mustache Ride has got to be a wild journey.

  • really? 7 people can not grow a stache?

  • Paul Walker's son on Bass ? Lol.

  • FREDDY MERCURY MOUSTACHE.

  • 1:21 to 1:25 ..hardest slow pan to maintain eyecontact with:l

  • ahhhhhh.... they are too good. i just wish they had done world news, oh the irony that could've been.

  • :( i don't get the charlie kelly joke

  • @tigerswell Well imagine Charlie Kelly making a drum solo on your ass, that would be a pretty funny thing to see wouldn't it.

(don't know if i'm getting the joke either but find my interpetation funny)

  • These guys have something pretty out of the ordinary. Very nice.

  • ME GUSTA

  • sounds so nice

  • First time hearing this band. I've watched three "tiny desk concerts" in a row. Iron and Wine, Other Lives (whom i had not heard before either), and now this. Needless to say, I'm in a great fucking mood.

  • @theMusiCandMedicinE Try out the Avett Brothers too

  • I was not expecting what came out of them. I really enjoyed this.

  • They don't need your constructive criticism.

  • someone's voice keeps cracking at "see"

  • Of course this is amazing...it is impossible not to fall in love with everything Local Natives does. I wish they had done "World News" for this Tiny Desk Concert, though! It's all about NPR, after all. :)

  • now i can see why the bassist left.

in every song he plays no huge part, and just looks lost/ left out

  • @WeAreTheKiwis he wrote some pretty awesome basslines actually.

  • @Mav203 true but look at him. he is sad ;(

  • Local Natives have so much talent!!! also the lead singer has the best mustache!! if you like this band then check out Margot and the nuclear so and so's

  • what is the bassist's hat called

  • @scooterbender13 uhh a hat with the brim flipped up?

  • @scooterbender13 it's called a painter's cap.

  • I love how disinterested the bassist looks

  • How about we stop paying our attention to what they are wearing and we listen to their music?

  • 6 people can't grow a mustache.

  • Greatness.

  • that mustache....its.....amazing...

  • @fushiarabbit That Moustache can save lives. It is fucking awesome.

  • Super Mario is jealous

  • i could care less what genre they were lumped in, what they dress like, or anything because they are just some incredibly talented young dudes.

  • NPR should release a dvd pack will all of these concerts on it

  • love the band but the stache the guy has is ......HILARIOUS(good way though)!!!

  • Rafi got a haircut.

  • i love it all!

  • My brother and I once took part in an audition for some music industry guys. They criticized us because we didn't "look the part." It's not like we were dressed in wetsuits or chicken costumes or anything; we just wore our regular street clothes. I couldn't figure out what they meant by looking the part. Watching this...sadly, I think I get it.

  • I need to go to sleep, but this is way too good of a concert!

  • Labeling people on their appearance is something I grew out of years ago.

  • I wish they did the banter at the start of airplanes in the album version, when they play live :/

  • why haven't fleet foxes been on npr!!!

  • @RomansSixFourteen I Have been waiting For the fleet foxes to show up on here! and Bon Iver... someone from the national public radio Hear Our Plea!!

  • Officially the best tiny desk concert thus far.

  • NPR sessions are better than the rest.

  • @clauchr i want you back!!

  • Epic mustache is epic.

  • It looks like Luigi ( super mario Brothers ) got himself a band haha. They sound really good, even got their cd, but gosh they would look a little better if they dressed Not Bums like.

  • Charlie Kelly on drum, goin' America all over our asses!!!

(someone please get this joke so I'm not alone in its hilarity)

  • @ChadWilliams5000 rock, flag, and eeeeeeagle!!

  • @ChadWilliams5000 well yes the drummer clearly appreciates a good milk-steak... with an order of jelly beans on the side... raw!

  • @ChadWilliams5000 haha I got you man, Always Sunny

  • @ChadWilliams5000 If you think he looks like charlie kelly then check out Good Old War because keith goodwin looks EXACTLY like him. His band is even from Philly.

  • CAN'T STOP LISTENING. This has happened before though.. to the Avrett brothers one, the Iron and Wine one, oh, fanfarlo too... so much goodness!

  • I wanna work for NPR.

  • genuinely confuses me how people could dislike this.

  • Robin Pecknold from Fleet Foxes handing them the guitar at 08:13 lmaoo

  • @imallright116 pfff... He's my favorite beardo!

  • EPIC 'STACHE

  • These guys went to Tesoro.

    Weird shit.

  • what is it with American indie bands and mustaches

  • definitely prefer this guys acoustic.

  • Anyone else just as shocked to see Kelcey in anything else but a button down?

  • @HerNamesJuliette first thing I thought when I watched the video was "OMG JEAN VEST, KELCEY WHAT?!"

  • Can they please make an acoustic album? I would just be the happiest person ever. :)

  • Ah geeze they're so good.

  • I'm sorry, but Luigi is either slightly stones or really tired.

  • @SilentSalvation1995 haha Luigi, here looks super tired. They probably don't get adequate sleep since they're constantly touring.

  • on "see"

  • jk, 0:56

  • 01:00 voice crack on the oh's! Haha

  • You can really get into this song, I love how it has a smooth effortless sound to my ears.

  • "was it cool sound-wise?" ..No ,It was cool Orgasm-wise..

  • what brand of guitar is taylor playing?

    favourite band of the year.

  • @harrywhoyou goya

  • @harrywhoyou He's playing an art & lutherie i checked the headstock at 5:22 and it's definitely the A&L logo

  • @harrywhoyou he is playing an Art & Lutherie guitar look at the headstock at 5:20-5:24 I have one similar to that it's definitely the A&L logo

  • Comment removed

  • at the end of this performance Kelcey looks at someone gesturing, was that good? alright? yeah it was good.

  • CAN YOU DIG IT! These guys make me want to join The Warriors. lol

  • i love this band! ♥

  • Taylor Rice keeps has my heart 'stached' away for good.

    ;) geddit?

  • Simply beautiful.

  • I've seen this video so many times, and I just can't get tired.

  • Yeah, these versions are way better than the album versions, I agree.

  • Jesus, these versions are so much better than the album versions it's ridiculous.

  • Music at its greatest

  • Great live performance...acoustic or not, these guys put it down as good as their studio tracks!..and of course the mustache rocks also!

  • very good band.

Real hipster's give guys like them a bad rep. big defference between a ingnorant, cocky, pretetious, hipster and a couple of guys with good fashion.I know one thing, (for the kids talking shit) somebody is making good music and somebody is sitting in front of a computer screen typing bullshit.

  • @TheRobbywolf

I agreed with you until you said good fashion.

  • @TheRobbywolf AMEN

  • They need to switch to acoustic instruments permanently.

  • My favorite TinyDesk. Even better than The Avett Brothers or Edward Sharpe.

  • @irvingjohn lets not lose our minds here...

  • By far the best live indie performance I have ever seen.

  • I'll love anyone who has the tabs to this.

  • @CrazyBacon29 i have the tabs... but not to this song... will u love me?

    haha CREEPY!

  • @jackblacksutube haha someone's lonely!

  • His mustache has more hair than a bear!

  • so much better acoustic...they should just be an acoustic band all the time!

  • Looks like a young Ron Swanson. Good thing their music is good because on appearance alone I want to steal their PBR and dump it on their ironically large belt buckles.

  • @drusucks puahaha. Swanson would not be pleased.

  • well. im envious of that MANstache

  • I feel like I'm in a vineyard when I look at Taylor.

  • that mustache is like candy.. i can't take my eyes off of it and my mouth is starting to water

  • saw them live...so beautiful

  • I love this band. Kelsey was a little too loud in the harmony. It kind of drowned the other 2 guys.

  • I'm not from America, and I don't know what hipsters are, and why people don't like them.. can anybody explain it to me please??

  • @serekes17

    because people enjoy hating things.

  • Wow. They sound just about as good here as they do on the studio recordings.

  • California boys playing a Canadian guitar. All is well in music.

  • cubism dream?! hello? wtf? cant believe you guys ignored the best song on the album

  • a lot of people dissed musicians that make indie/indie rock/folk music, just because they look like hipsters or are hipsters, and why may i say?!!

If you think about bands that are indie are the most talented ones, they play it out everywhere,no auto tune,no studio, they just straight up spill their hearts out and let the world know what real musicians are.Thats the beauty of it,but some people will never understand it.

  • I am so in love with them.

  • ! really really wish that they'd played "World News".

the song mentions NPR! Come on!

    Regardless, it's a wonderful set.

  • Tom Zé in the upper left haha, muito bom!

  • absolutely amazing!

  • Lets all condemn Taylor for casting Local Natives as "hipster!" -_-

In the 60's and 70's I'm sure most people thought because you wore flower prints and ripped denim you were a "hippie." Lets get real guys. You want hipster, youtube: Interior Semiotics.

  • i wish i could see the audience too lol

  • @SimplePalindromes

but no worries, I do agree with what else you had to say. Im just sick and tired of this whole generation and their battle against the whole 'you're a hipster, because I think so and so does the way you look.'

  • Does that guy in the denim look like Charlie?

  • Local natives never disappoint.

  • Pure, raw, music. Finally. This is awesome.

  • seriously, what's wrong with 'hipsters'?

    i think they're pretty awesome.

  • @iamjoedubois thats probably because you are one....the only cool hipsters i've ever seen are the people in the above video. and only because they make awesome music

  • @jordanpartv That still doesn't explain what's wrong with them though.

aren't most indie bands made up of hipsters?

  • I have only one problem with this video: it's not longer.

  • <3 these hipsters

  • The majority of time, I dislike hipsters like these guys but there are times when I think you have to ignore an individual's or group's prescribed identity and just appreciate the music for what it is - as something transformative and beautiful in itself. You don't have to like the artist to appreciate the art.

  • @SimplePalindromes

Im interested into seeing what your definition for a hipster is though. If a person with a handle bar mustache and a plaid shirt is considered "hipster" then you are far off quilter to judge anything pertaining looks. Whats worse in the world than some stereotype created by fashion and people trends is the labeler itself stating it. All I see here are just five guys wearing comfortable clothes with music that makes life filter in more of its splendor to listeners.

  • @SimplePalindromes Well said

  • @SimplePalindromes isn't "disliking" hipsters a little passe?

  • @carjugful isn"t using the word passe a little passe...

  • @SimplePalindromes

we call these times: all of the time.

  • @SimplePalindromes i hope you realize how hipster you sounded...

  • @SimplePalindromes spoken like a true hipster.

  • @SimplePalindromes

I think you should just listen to music and not make judgments based on zero knowledge of the people who make that music. They are "hipsters" because they don't dress or look the way you think people should? You dislike people based on labels you place which have no basis on their behaviors...but instead fashion sense? 50+ people who gave you a thumbs up need their fingers removed.

  • @SimplePalindromes Allow me to correct you, their identities aren't "prescribed" because no one demanded for them to be "hipsters". The way they act and dress is voluntary. I do agree with you about hipsters, however (along with any other trendy group: thugs, bros, etc). If you're going to differentiate yourself from the majority, do it in pursuit of happiness, not in pursuit of originality. Oh, and I agree with you about the music. It's incredible.
