Bad idea, It's a jazz guitar. Anything else doesn't sound quite right. Also you won't be able to lower the action to rock standard. It's a good guitar, just not a rock guitar :-)
@TheEnglishWay1 BAD IDEA! You will spoil a hollow body guitar with the EMGs. Don't even think about it. It will an abomination. Why don't you get something usual ex. Gibson LP or Epiphone, Fender Strat or Tele, The massive distortion will spoil the sound of this guitar which in other circumstances it will produce killing solo like this.
@ tsironakos - Roger that, i can see what your saying and i am currently looking at Gibson SG to buy which you would agree is much more suitable. I just had the thought of buying this guitar because its sexy and looks alot like PRS guitar but without the price tag :) But to your relief i shant be buying this guitar to turn into a rock godess as i can see the big negatives of doing so such as you pointed out. Thanks for your feedback
@TheEnglishWay1 - I think it was something obvious. Although Ibanez makes a variety of PRS-like models with low prices I think. I suggest you not to buy a Gibson, but to look at all the brands. I have a Fender Stratocaster (Mexico. it's half the price of the USA and almost the same quality) and I play mostly metal. (I have modified it with a Duncan pick up) and I can play almost everything. I suggest you the SV or the SZR series.
@ tsironakos - Yea i've checked out some ibanez, not many catched my attention though. I was guitar hunting yesterday and played a Gibson SG (special fade), i thought it was superb. On the other hand I was thinking of getting a fender telecaster and in-putting seymour duncan's (hot rails) like yourself to be able to play stuff on the heavier side. However i think it would be a shame to takeaway the great tone telecasters give. Do you still have the great fender tone on your strat?
This guitar is EXACTLY what you're looking for, my man. I'm not much of a jazz player, but I do know the basic chords, and they sound fantastic. I love playing the blues and rock, and this guitar nails that thick full tone.
If you like the strats/teles, everybody's been raving about the new classic vibes from Squier. They say they're better than the MIMs. And they're cheap. I also have the Ibanez in this video. I highly recommend it as well.
Thanks, man! This would be a great guitar for a beginner. It handles cleans and rock distortion great, just don't try playing any crazy heavy metal on it!
how did you get a whammy on it

@TheEnglishWay1 Yes, I still get the great fender tone in combinations of pickups

Why would you put EMGs in a semi-hollow guitar? What effect are you trying to achieve by doing that?
