@picker61 That's not Dickie, its Weldon Myrick. If you'd like to hear some current Dickie Overby stuff, give a listen to Amber Digby's recordings. He's her steeler (and step-dad), and still great.
@Beauxciephais ..thanks..I thought maybe it was Dickie when he was younger...didn't know...yeah I see Dickie playing with Amber..that girl is keeping it country..I love her
If country radio was truly "Country", then these great ladies would have hit after hit with their harmony!! I have the great honor of knowing Barbara and Roy, and have met Connie and Sharon in concert. What great sincere ladies they are!! It just don't get any better than this!
I didn't know this other "trio" dated back this far. This song was sung by "other trio" member Emmylou Harris & Rodney Crowell on the 2003 Louvin Brothers tribute album (which won the Grammy for Best Country Album, I believe).
Oh my! I haven't heard this song in so many years, don't even remember who did it back when, but if there are, in fact, angels in heaven, this must be what they sound like.
Thank you for posting this. I have always said Connie Smith has one of the most powerful, expressive voices of any female in country music. And these three sing some good, close harmondy too. FIVE STARS!!!!!
You know you're hearing something very special if Barbara Fairchild is one of the backup singers and Sharon White accompanies on vocals and rhythm guitar. Connie was wonderful in the '60's, even better when this clip was done, and still better today. May she go on forever, or at least as long as I'm around to listen.
Actually the steel player is none other than Larry "Wimpy" Sasser that is the Staff Steel Player for Nashville Now show hosted by Ralph Emory.
Hal Rugg and Dickie Overbey are certainly 2 of my favorite players.....but it ain't them.

I COMPLETELY agree with you. Connie is simply one of the best, if not THE best.
