Loving the videos man, makes me feel good about the fact that I play this stuff. The amount of times people tell me I should drop it and learn more complex music. It just doesn't have the ring and the blast of the original punk classics.
@CapnKirkus gotta agree dude, i'm in a punk band and a lot of people say we are either crap musicians or that we should play more difficult stuff, but a lot of those people play in heavy metal bands, and because it is so complex they just stand still, whereas myself and my bandmates are throwing ourselves round the stage jumpin off amps etc i'd rather play punk and be a showman than play incredibly complex stuff and bore the crowd stiff
most amazing are these versions of new rose, teenage kicks, and also 7 and seven is, cause besides been a punk rock fan all my life I am also a fanatic of sixties garage rock. Do you listen to some of that???
@surferpunker Thanks a lot for your nice comments! I too love punk rock all my life and even ageing can't stop the virus lol! I suppose that this whole Youtube thing is gotten way out of hand because initially I never had the intention to cover almost the complete Ramones. It's also fun to make some side trips to cover other great punk bands. I am by no means a specialist on sixties garage but I do appreciate listening to it. Oh man, there is still so much great music out there!
You absolutely nail it in all of your videos! You make it look so easy when it's not. Thanks for covering this, it's a fave of mine off an album that's a punk classic
Excellent work again & excellent song choice! I have that cd and it's packed with strong material! According to the cd notes, "New Rose" was recorded in Sept. 1976, & the album was released in Feb. 1977, making the album the first by a British punk band. Also, this album, due to an error, had Eddie & the Hot Rods' picture on early copies, instead of the Damned. How could that have happened? Anyway, great job, & New Rose definitely rocks, it's one of the best!!!
Thanks. I saw them in 1977 and it was an amazing show of musical anarchy. Captain Sensible was dressed in a ballet tutu and Rat Scabies set his cymbals on fire half way through the set...

Smart looking guitar. Is it a marlin or something else?

@murc2691
It's a Schecter Blackjack ATX. Great guitar but unfortunately too much of a Metal tone for my purposes so I sold it already a long time ago.

Hehe... I didn't know about the 'Eddie & the Hot Rods' story. Quite an embarrassing mistake!
And yeah, the album is a milestone for British punk.

Ah, legendary 70's punk rock =) I love it!!! The Damned rocks, but not as much as Ramones =)
GuitarFinland 2 years ago
Their first years were legendary but later there were too much changes in the line-up. For me the only real Damned is the original line-up.
woodyamsterdam 2 years ago
That right =D I own ''Damned Damned Damned'' album and it's go so fucking good =D I hope you can make more The Damned in future =)
GuitarFinland 2 years ago
They made a great debut with this album. I'll look for a few other songs that are suitable to cover.

wow looks it was a hot day!
nice playing
BTW do you know if johnny ramone used any effects?
iownduncan 2 years ago
It was not too hot but after playing the song 8 times to get the audio right, you get a little sweaty lol!
Johnny didn't used any effects. Guitar straight into the amp.
