  • This brother can sing the crap out of anything! Brilliant man.

  • Does anyone else love those lips, they go side ways, when he sings, love it,......so breathtaking here

  • @35777 while I believe that anyone of us is a physical extension and expression of source energy anyway, I do not hesitate to agree with you. He is a splendorous expression of looks and talents. I hope he shared love in the same abundance as his public career.

  • The Carpenters version is good but this is unbelievably great

  • OMG, the band were going at 1000mph, how did he keep with them !!!!

  • Check out 2:28 to 2:30. Mathis tosses the mic from one hand to the next with legs crossed while eyes in touch with Doc and the band and enjoying the whole trip. Genuine show biz pizazz!

  • I love this song, wish I could find it on an album somewhere.

  • I really don't think Johnny can sing a bad song, but this song is sung a little to fast for me !

  • Vocalists of the 1970's: Mathis, Karen Carpenter, James Taylor..........who can touch these people today? MAYBE Buble, but thats it!

  • @grease58 Buble' is a very fine singer but... he has yet to achieve anything even close to Johnny Mathis' league.

  • @texasjohnnyboy Light years behind Johnny.

  • Yeah BaBY!

  • I met Johnny when my dad played with him. He spent a few minutes during mid-afternoon rehearsal to speak with me. This is pure music that lifts the soul. The arrangement is amazing. Thank you to all who have made music like this possible in the world and to all who appreciate music that lifts us to a higher plane of consciousness.

  • The mouth, the mouth, the mouth...yikes so beautiful, love those lips.....

  • Mathis at his peak, untouchable. And the greatest singer of ballads.

  • Behind Johnny, altho unseen, is my father, on piano. How can I NOT listen & Love?

  • 2 people are tone deaf

  • Just stare at that mouth, gorgeous

  • @35777

I just love all your comments , you always say what I am thinking ,its like we were separated at birth, I've got some of my rock loving relatives listening to Johnny ,even my 7 year old granddaughter listens to him before bed and of course ,I have him on in the car, his voice tends to calm me down, can't believe I found all of these wonderful song and videos

  • @capatga .....Maybe we are related, are you gorgeous, beautiful, stunning, intelligent, outgoing, funny.. lol, lol, but most of all in love with the most talented, handsome, sweetest, man, that God ever created.....:>)...then we are sisters...let's do lunch....:>)

  • My favorite video of Johnny where you can see the confidence come thru, he has a bit of a swagger ,wow,! most confidence I've ever seen in him ,although he's always georgous he is extremely handsome ,watch closely he seems to be flirting with someone at home perhaps , best video on youtube, Thanks ever so much for posting

  • Favorite singer "Nat King Cole" among others, admires his parents, hobbies are cooking and golf. Hope this helps.

  • His voice is distinct it sounds like an instrument in itself , I would love to now what makes him tick, who his favorite singer ,who he admires, his hobbies, etc...........

  • OUTRAGEOUS! No autotune! EFFORTLESS. Doc Severinson and the Tonight Show Band really RIPPED it UP!

Also amazing that the band is double-timing it but Johnny glides along as if the orchestra is playing a languid beat behind him...yet he and the orchestra are perfectly synched.

  • DANGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG.

  • I TOTALLY AGREE...

  • So great. Did he ever have a partner/mate? He could've sung to me anytime!

  • What a wonderful voice. Simply the Best!

  • WOW POW POWERFUL LOVE VIBRATIONS ONE VOICE OF PURE LOVE :) OM

  • Adoraria saber onde consigo esta música com ele cantando! É empolgante e totalmente diferente de todas as versões que já escutei desta música e a extensão da voz dele é incrível! Ele passeia pelas notas! Muito bonito... perfeito!!!!

  • The Two great Johnnys-Mathis&Carson.

  • Not only is he supremely talented, but very handsome. The band is great too:) Long live Johnny!!!

  • What a voice..what a band behind him ...fantastic

  • Johnny ,I've been waiting on our day for over 50 years.Don't think it will come.

  • I saw him perform just a few months ago. He gently said, "Well, we're all getting older!" You sure couldn't tell by looking at him! Great show!

  • Thank you, 19rebel57, I love this one and watch it just about every day, sometimes more than once. JM is something else, I thank God He let me live at the same time as JM...I've loved him for over 50 years because I am in his age bracket and I'm so glad I heard him from the beginning of his awesome career. God bless you for all you do for his fans.

  • BRAVO!!!!!!!......now this is how you sing a song, this guy has one hell of a powerful voice, he puts todays singers to shame......BIG TIME!!!

  • Typical english band - in a hurry!

  • What is his background?...Pardon my ignorance but he has this Hawaiin vibe going on...no offense to any Hawaiins. Well, Johnny is a good looking man.

  • @mialma999 Johnny mathis is African American.

  • Do you think that Johnny every says DAM I wish I could sing like so and so? lol ( i seriously doubt it) There is no doubt that this man is one of the GREATEST singers of all time. I can sing like a few people, but this guy is unatainable. I saw him in Louisville with my mom and wife. He just stood and sang and IT ROCKED. Man I wish I could do that. Mr. Mathis please come back to the Lexington KY area. I love music and all the stage shows, but just you on stage is GREAT.

  • Love the head-bobbing at 1:23.

  • No one is better than Johnny Mathis.

  • Did Johnny Mathis and Tom Jones ever do a duet??? That would have been awesome.

  • Johnny Mathis: the singer's singer. That says it all!

  • incredible... just incredible... so much power, so effortless. i sing this song and always get the crowd rocking... but i can never attain this. johnny, you're the greatest male singer that has ever lived.

  • I'm not a Johnny Mathis fan, but this version of ODWC just totally blew me away. Fantastic!

  • What a fabulous voice that is indeed!Thank you for putting the videos out there to enjoy.

  • arrasou!!!!!!

  • MR TOM 2331 IS RIGHT

  • The only thing better than seeing and hearing this performance would be to have watched the rehearsal of this great vocalist and great orchestra!

  • He's awesome.

  • A fantastic voice and yes what control of his breathing - a true star.

Does anyone remember Johnny singing a title - "When we're dancin'"?

  • OK! I think I had better start increasing my vocal breathing exercies. WOW!

    Love the samba rhythm too.

  • Is he middle eastern?

  • I had no idea he had such volume. His breath control is remarkable. Yes indeed, he is one of a kind. Mathis is great!

  • This is STEAMING !!! Check out COMPING / MONTUNO's on the Rhodes !!

Superb. You just don't hear anything at all like this anymore.

    This is awesome.

  • WOW!!!!!

  • Awesome in every sense of the word! Johnny is a legend!

  • Only Wonderfull !

    That is Mr.Mathis

  • Amazing singing...look at the low larynx and constant tone. Fantastic.

  • Johnny, you are wonderful with any song you sing...

  • BRAVO!!!!!!!!

  • Wow, this is like Ruby & The Romantics on acid... Awesome.

  • Wonderful

    very good

    thank

    you

  • Love that man.

    Jackie

  • Amazing! He does that so effortlessly.

He is the ultimate vocalist. No one can touch him.

  • @p- You are so right!!

  • My God...he is heaven on earth.

  • I wasn't around at the time but ya just can't disagree, this guy is an incredible performer, his voals are are perfection

  • I was a few months away from 21 at the time of this tonight show performance. Wow! what a

    powerful voice!!

  • good

  • God love Johnny Mathis !!! When Streisand sings, you can hear the influence from growing up listening to Johnny that she uses...... He's magic.

  • Johnny's my favorite singer and has been since I heard him sing Misty back in 1959. I've seen him in concert twice, hope to see him again. I live in the SF area too and have been trying to see him perform with the SF Symphony. He isn't coming this year, hopefully next year. When his 50th Anniversary show was on my PBS TV station he talked about his voice teacher and how she helped him learn to use his voice and take care of it. He's the best by far, I hope we have him for many years to come.

  • Ui!!!

  • Look out Ruby!

  • for us chelle

  • My favorite video on this entire friggin' site!

  • johnny is so sexy

  • My favorite video is JM Last Dance on You Tube. I play it daily. I'm adding this one to my daily viewing. I know this is shallow but this man is beautiful. Oh yeh, the singing is good too!

  • I think that I particularly like this performance because you can really see Johnny flowing with the band and improvising using his vocal talent. Listening to Johnny Mathis sing encouraged me to study voice for 4 years and what what he makes look so effortless is not easy to do. In my opinion, NO ONE in the second half of the 20th century could sing like Johnny! One of the great voices in musical history.

  • Wow! Wow! Wow!! What an awesome voice and a handsome man!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I love the life of this performance. I play it

nightly. It's like Johnny is in my room and in

my heart. I will follow him to the ends of the earth no matter how gray my hair gets.

  • brilliant!! thank you for posting this wonderful piece!!

  • The MAN has the kind of CHOPS that even

the best singers today can only DREAM of!!!

  • I just had to see this again. WOW, WOW, WOW! I can't get that performance out of my mind. He looks super, and he was right at the top of his game. He just gets better with age.

  • The man is an absolute power house! His voice is strong and clear - and that arrangement leaps out at you! I defy any current singer to match that for entertainment. Thank you for posting this clip.

  • singchef,I totally agree with you. Johnny is so magnificent in everything he does. Classiest man in this world along with the best God-given voice in this world. Thanx everyone for being so classy in your adoration of Johnny.

  • Hi type555. To answer your question about Johnny's concerts, I saw him in Philadelphia on 9/16 and he was superb. I sat center stage, row 7, and I couldn't have asked for better seating. He was at his best, as usual. My husband enjoyed him as much as I did. I have attended 45-50 concerts over the years. Have a great day and drop me a line when you can.

  • Love the hair. Great post, thanks for sharing!

  • There isn't a doubt. He is a Class Act.

  • and the best singer ever.

  • Everybody likes Johnny Mathis, but I wonder if today's kids know who he is.

  • A shame if they don't.

  • Does anyone have Johnny singing "Love Me As Though There Were No Tomorrow" it's from his 1962 Rapture album. If you have it would you post it here please, thnaks.

  • Thanks so much for posting the videos from The Tonight Show. I've been looking for them on vhs or dvd but haven't had any luck. Great to see them!

  • I like the fact that he knows how to hold the microphone at the right distance from his mouth so you won't hear an overtone.

  • Another superb video of the wonderful Johnny Mathis. Thanks 19rebel57.

  • Agree with you totally. He is superb and I cannot get enough of him. Will be attending a concert soon. Cannot wait. xoxoxoxoxo

  • This video is great! So clear and the sound is so perfect. Love the song, love his hair and those '70s sideburns, too! Another perfect treasure - THANKS 19rebel57!

  • This video is just awesome! A delight to hear that wonderful Mathis 70's sound! Thanks 19rebel57 !!!

  • Certainly . . . I love his early 50's and 60's work, but this is a rare treat and, as usual, that voice knows how to make a song sound great. Of course I will always enjoy the Ruby and the Romantics version.

  • LOVED, LOVED, LOVED THIS ONE, 19Rebel39, it is awesome. I loved that era of Mr. Mathis' voice anyway, the voice control, the deep resonating sound, just wonderful. I thank you for sharing these videos with us, please, more, more, more. Partridgelady
