Apple isn't charging you strictly for the hardware. Look at it as an entire package you're getting. I work with media, so Mac is the obvious choice. I've worked on machines with much faster processors than my macbook, but they're simply crap because they run windows. My macbook hasn't ever crashed AfterEffects for me, whereas the desktop I was working on crashed every couple hours on the same program. Pretty sad.

I use after effects and most adobe software almost daily myself, on the PC. I've never had it crash on me, not once. If your computer crashes, it's due to user error, not the computer. Apple just takes far to much control over there products. If you don't like the way they say to do things or find a better way you run into far more issues than it's worth. I prefer to think different than what some guy in a black shirt tells me I should.

I build machines for a living man. Macs are flat out more expensive for the hardware you're buying. That and Apple's OS design is some of the must UNINTUITIVE I've ever dealt with. Windows is still a far more logical and intuitive interface than OSX is. You have to use every program and do everyting in OSX the ONE way apple intended it to be done for it to work well. If you don't like the way things are done or want to do things differently your in for a world of trouble and confusion. Macs force you to change your way of thinking to use them. With a PC i can change my computer to work with my way of thinking.
