@swarrior80 you can get all 3 seasons on dvd. but yea, i wish they had kept it on longer. f.ing BS. Season 1 is the best by far though. Anderson is a god
I graduated in early 1972 from Vietnam with the 101st when they stood down, but only after failing to graduate with the 23rd (AMERICAL) when they stood down: not short enough! Finally caught this series on DVD without the "greatest Hits" soundtrack and it still broke my heart. showed it to my own sons and threatened them with severe punishment if they tried to join the Army!
@WimGrundy Why would you threaten them. My father was in nam 173rd ABN. I watched tour of duty as a Kid. I had no other interest in school or college, I wanted to be like Zeek. The Army gave me everything I have today, Ive had 4 new cars money in the bank always, a place to stay , food always, served with the best guys. Never paid for medical a day since I joined. Zeek's charachter always stayed in my mind, in Iraq and the states. Try to emulate him. But cant be as good as him.
Troops from the 100th Battalion, 442nd Infantry built the set for the TV series while training at Schofield Barracks. No recognition was ever given to the soldiers for their hard work -- work that was undertaken in the late afternoon and early evening, after a full day of training. Shame on those who produced this TV series!
i remember this show 2 years ago me trying to stay up till midnight every thursday to watch it... then falling asleep and downloading it the next day :)
All this talk about theme songs. Who cares! The show represents the sacrifice made by the good men of the 196th Infantry, 23rd ID (Americal) in Vietnam. End Story!
Ho chi Minh, Vietnam's communist founder, is a disguting TRAITOR and MURDERER. He was a member of the Third Communist International established in 1919 by Lenin. He gave up Paracel & Spratly archipelagos with large oil resources to Red China. He even ordered to murder his own mistress named Nong thi Xuan when she threatened to disclose her sexual relationship with him since that would destroy his image as a "Father" of Vietnam who "sacrifices" his whole life for Vietnam revolution.
@startwiththeballs oh dont knock it. Youd probably be sitting at home doing nothing like the rest of your friends, just like mine are if you hadnt joined. You got a pay check, a place to stay, Medical, and food. And you dont work at Wal Mart, or bus tables. So be glad, :)
This is the original Original music they had for it befor it got swapped to paint it black for marketing on the 1986 tv series. they just brought it back for the dvd. i like paint it black too
@JazzMaster43 Go buy the 3 season DVD Set, you can get it at best buy or order it online, amazon or something. I grew up on Tour of Duty, and actually owe my career and life to this show, as a career soldier. I own the dvd's, its a must buy.
Yes, lets blame George Bush for everything. Lets call him an S.O.B. Whatever makes all you left wing wackos feel better about yourselves. I love how a video from an '80's T.V. show turns into a bash Bush rally. Iraq is a military success. The U.S. did defeat the Iraqi army & remove Saddam from power. The "war" is over and won. Now we occupy the country to let the Islamo fascists come there to fight instead of comming to America to fight. At least he had the balls to do something about it.
vietnam was a military disaster, the repercussions of which are still felt today. America needs to realise that it does not have the world's approval to do whatever it wants, and, if necessary, it's own people will stop it. A cretin for a president does not help the situation.
Actually, Vietnam was a military success for the U.S.. The U.S. pretty much had the Vietcong defeated & the N. Vietnam army was starting to tire and lose desire to fight. The American left wing media machine turned a decisive U.S. victory during Tet into a public opinion debacle. They made people believe that Tet was a loss for the U.S. when it was actually a huge blow to N. Vietnam. Thus, turning public opinion on the war upside down and giving the North Vietnamese the will to keep fighting.
wow...i really like this vid...really remind me to my childhood memories...1990..wow...very touching...thanks for sharing this very exclusive video!!!
teluperil, fair enough, you may be a decendant of the samurai class, but ironic isn't it that during WW2,the so called code of bushido and the spirit of the samurai was put to use to kill countless innocent civilians and non combatants.
What r u talking about?? The real heroes never afraid of giving his life for a triumph..even if u have to sacrifice everything around u..this is the spirit of kamikaze...never say never !!
this show had such good plot and stories in it so much to it. I would still be watching it and i was born in 86 :)
