  • Let's change topic. How about let's say if there's going to be a P-League fantasy/special doubles tournament (possibility of never ever gonna happen) where P-League ladies would pair with PBA men, what pairing could be possible?

I'll start with a couple in mind:

Urara Himeji pairing with Mike Fagan, aka King of Swing and Argyle Assassin - I pair them for their high back swing

Ayumi Kobayashi pairing with any lefties like Parker Bohn III, Rhino Page, Patrick Allen or Ryan CIminellli

  • thanks 4 uploading....

  • Yet another long-winded comment from muah. I got ahold of the DVDs for Beautiful Challenger (美しきチャレンジャー) from 1971. This series is AWESOME! They have old clips of Ritsuko-san, Rie Ishii (she was a BABE in 1971,) and several others. Maybe I should create another YouTube acct and upload the series to YouTube. TBS should re-make this series, and have someone like Mao Inoue star in it. Another great bowling dorama is Golden Bowl with Hitomi Kuroki. Hitomi looks like a real bowler in this one!

  • @yuppiehi *perks up!* ;)

  • For examples of American women bowling, try Google image for USBC college women bowling. Most 200+ average women out of juniors will go to college and bowl on a scholarship. But, because the PWBA is dead and that they can't compete on the PBA Tour (yes, Kelly and Missy are FREAKS of nature,) they'll take up other occupations. That's why Wendy Macpherson has the brains of all the American women - she went onto the JPBA and is winning money, while Barnes and Ballard just hang around the PBA.

  • I don't think P-League would work in America. Despite the P's, the show's appeal is the "idol" mentality that has lingered in Japan since the 1970s. The fashion, the hair styles - all part of the magic. America doesn't look at women in the same respect as Japan, so any show appealing to 20+plus women bowling would work for maybe two seasons at the most, and then the appeal would wear off. Bowling's reputation in America is also different - just watch "King Pin" and you'll see what I mean.

  • I think Mina Endoh (PE student, from post-35 ABC) will get 2nd or 3rd candidate. She has a bowling spirit and good style compared to the rest.

    +1 Akemi!

  • @CooLDsteR

Thanks for your comment as alway. I agree with you. according to website she has played pitcer with softball. So, she has good fundamental in her physics, I think.

You will know second and thrird successful candicates in next uploading.

    Please wait until next Friday.

However who is Akemi? I think no candidates whose mane is Akemi, your wrong memory?

  • @higashi1343 Akemi Kobayashi.

"+1" us just another way of saying I agree with what others said.

  • @CooLDsteR

Very sorry,! my mistake in spell out. first name of elder sister of KObayashi is Ayumi, but not Akemi. I will check memo in the past and correct all.

Sorry, agai, please remember her correct name "Ayumi"

  • You can find many of the P-League records at the English Wikipedia site. No 300-games have been through thus far. Games that had 11 strikes: M. Sakai (T11), Mori (T13), Himeji (T17) and A.Kobayashi (T35). Highest score so far is Himeji with 289 (T18). Kobayashi needs a 279 to break Sakai's record of 789.

As for Kobayashi - she had a KILLER of a line! She had no one else bowling on her line, and it looks like the oil stayed consistent throughout the match. I didn't see her move or anything.

  • Awesome. I wish they would do a show like this in the United States.

  • @pask8r17

If show like p-league will be held in US, which players you would like to partticipate?

  • @higashi1343 I should start up just for the heck of it: Missy Parkins Carolyn Dorin-Ballard (and why not, she looks good in her age) Shannon Pluhowsky Stephanie Nation Linda Barnes (aka 'The Better Half' - that nickname should stick) Kelly Kullick (she's more of a Suzuna Miyagi-esque..of course not in bowling style) .... Aw, heck. Why not every women in the pba no matter how they look like.
  • @SCDWldCrd

I copied and pasted picture of PBA bowlers you mentioned.

Well....not bad, but they look a bit more matured than p-leaguers though Asian people (especially Japanese) tend to look younger (childlike) for their ages.

Maybe no problem with Power, Passtion and Perfornance. also they may have made Perfect games. Pretty depends on preferences of the people who look at bowlers.

  • @higashi1343

True about mature looks. But of course this kind of competition definitely needs aura of maturity don't you think?

  • @SCDWldCrd

Yes, It's true, I have no objectton for that.

Sorry if my word is not enough.

  • @pask8r17 Well, I don't think there are 5 "P's" here in the States! =P haha. Let alone a large enough target audience.

  • I'm just curious... Has any of the women in P-League rolled a 300 while on P-League?

  • @pask8r17 i've been watching p league since 25th season, and i believe Hiromi Matsunaga did a really high score once, she was about to do a perfect score but missed a strike... i remember she was about to cry ! She is one of my favorite and one of the best !

  • @kreion

    Thanks for your comment.

Series 18 is first time for her to get championship in p-league. At that time she cried bitterly over the victory because she had bee called "silver collector" until then. I mean she had got 2nd position in many game including regular tournament, but could not have got top due to fatal mistake in key point of the game. However after victory in series 18, she has grown to really tough. In 2011, she was top for yearly averages and points (2nd for a prize)..

  • @pask8r17 actually Himeji Urara did a score of 289 on 18th tournament

  • @pask8r17

No not yet, as mentioned by yuppiehi, 289 by Himeji has been the highest so far.
