I also notice from these comments that there is an nasty aspect of ageism there. ALL people in Britain, young AND old are allowed to express their views! Well done those on the streets of London who did!

It would be great pity if we had to stay silent about injustices just because they are happening to a different racial group from our own. Many people have friends in other countries as well as following world events in a variety of media. In this country, we are lucky because we have won the right to protest against anything which we feel is wrong. The protests today were a clear message from informed people who object to the apalling human rights situation in China and Tibet.

Yes, I've been to Tibet.
Yes, I've seen the oppression with my own eyes.
Yes, I've seen Tibetans living in fear.
Yes, it's right in a democracy to protest against this.
Yes, it is ignorant and bigoted to deride the struggle of a people for their basic human rights.
Please remember what the Chinese Communist Party did to the Chinese people in 1989 around Tiananmen Square.
Hu Jintao and his clique have no legitimacy but the recourse to brutality in China and Tibet.

When the Olympic torch has to be escorted by 30+ cops, and a demonstration in tow that sends a real message. The violence in China is not being tolerated. Respect, and nice vid!
