i bet that rice had no flavor...looked pretty plain to me...if you really want tasty rice, use some bullion chicken powder, about two spoons, chop fresh tomatoes, and onions. 1 small can of tomato sauce and wella, you have some great tasting rice...
In the US, there is a law that obliges producers of milled, white rice to add nutrients back to the grains to make it as nutritious as brown rice (with its bran layer). meaning a dusty coat of vitamins and minerals is added to the rice before it is packaged and sold.
This kind of rice should not be washed if you want to preserve those added nutrients. However, if you do wash it, you would just end up with normal, natural white rice since those nutrients were artificially added in the first place
PPL you HAVE TO WASH THE RICE BEFORE COOKING IT!!! to take away the starch otherwise it's VERY globby and sticky and disgusting. wash the rice until the water is relatively clear
yay i made rice today (well its already made i just cooked it)hehe thanx ur a life saver i mixed it with chickena n then masterpiece moms outa town on a trip gota learn somehow thank god for youtube
Wow, what a way to cook rice. Every Japanese might decounce your method. If the result is OK for you, I guess it's fine. What type of rice are you using? And please at least rest for ten minutes before serving. This is universal for any kind of rice cooking.
Leaving rice for 10 minutes will make rice absorb extra water still in the pot. And this will make rice more full and fluffy. It is sort like baked meat that you have to rest before carving. Japanese saying for cooking rice is: At the beginning very low flame, in the middle a bit higher flame and don't even think about uncovering the lid even your baby cries for it.

drake1991991 3 years ago
depends on how much rice ur makin, but for the amount he made, i'd say around 2 to 3 teaspoons....it doesnt really matter actually...
bluejuiseritsma 3 years ago
You wash it to get rid of the starch so it doesn't stick.

I agree.People need to wash their food. That's why people get sick after eating
rizeuse 3 years ago
Washing the rice in cold water before you cook it removes any excess starches. Also it is good to wash the rice with boiling water after cooking.
Another tip is really not to play with it, or peak. It'll turn out fine as long as it is simmering.

does the oil prevent the rice from sticking to the pot?
I got a rice cooker at home and the rice always sticks to the pot. anyway, nice vid for those who cant cook rice.
aznricecannon 5 years ago
the oil helps... but I still get some rice stuck to the bottom of the pot.
itsyourturn 5 years ago
i never use oil. your either cooking the rice too long or you dont have enough water. in addition get a nonstick pot for the rice cooker.
