  • I love the internal arts. I am a practitioner of jujitsu. My favorite style of practice is Daitoryu. But the problem with all styles is they only deal with their owen style of attack. You need to understand all styles and street styles of attack to be a superior martial artist. Until then you will be surfing all the net has to offer.

  • In my belief, the true Martial Artist where men of the past.

And they often where very Humble, wise & respectful towards other Martial Artist. They practiced every day for Health & skill. To fight others would be sacrilegious and counterproductive to their beliefs & philosophy. However, the Martial Arts have been wrongfully represented in pseudo stories & films. And people have very little knowledge & understanding of true authentic Martial Arts.

  • many thanks for all people how developed and structured yiquan. you can find the trueness and all secrets of life in the zhan zhuang exercis

  • fake...

  • ground fighting is obviously use ful but could a ground fighter last against Mike tyson in his day.

  • nothing speaks louder than action...look mma

  • this is trining smartrty pants

  • looks good! if i ever get to beijing i'd like to touch hands with you guys!

  • I have lived and practiced the arts in China for 5 years now on top of 10 years at home. It is sad that the essence of many of the arts has been lost. I have met this man and his group are competent at what they do...respect. However, this "style" is good for a basic understanding and ground development if that. If given a real situation and up against something more vicious like traditional bagua or even good UFC stuff...not a chance.

  • if i understand you right, you think practicing Yiquan would not help against a good bagua or ufc fighter? well, it doesn't depend so much on the "style" but much more on the individual. if someone has developed a good physical understanding for movements and fighting situations - it doesn't matter with which method he achieved these skills - then he has a good chance to master a real situation. and yiquan prepares very well for real fight, much more than ufc or any other sportfighting system.

  • No, you did not understand my words. Read carefully. The "style" I refer to is in fact Yiquan. It is good for a basic understanding and ground development. However, I still can say that the Yiquan I have seen and played with in China, does not compare to some of the more traditional arts i.e. bagua which I have seen and still play with in the mountains of Henan province. Thus, the essence of the arts has been too spread out with many pieces missing.

  • you say yiquan teaches basics but would not be enough against some special other "styles". I guess I understood you very well. When I read carefully, what I normally do, then I find this: Yiquan...does not compare to traditional...bagua. Hmm, I'm sorry, but I don't get the meaning! You wanna compare Yiquan and traditional methods? Maybe you can explain that?

  • For example, no ground fighting in Yiquan my friend. I agree with your opinion in regards to the importance of the individual and not so much "style". However, wouldn't it makes sense to choose a "style" which provides an all round perspective as close to the natural capabilities of the human being? I have not yet observed that within Yiquan.

  • you are looking for technics! you won't find them in yiquan.

learning a lot of technics to be prepared for many possible situations is no "internal" practice and imho not the most effective way to really understand combat. but I agree, additional groundfighting practice, to stick with your example, is a good thing!

  • Do you know that chinese masters never reveal their secrets.

  • if a master has true skill, he does not need to keep secret...

  • best moment concentrated clips.
