  • Thanks for this video! Anyways, I used a knife instead of a razor blade, was much easier to find. I also pulled downward on the keyboard until there was a gap at the top, which I stuck my blade in, and then pressed the clips

  • this video helped me so much. tks a lot :)

  • North?!? WTF... you couldn't come up w a less descriptive / communicative way to indicate direction? is north alway uphill?

  • I have an Acer aspire & more then 3 clips. Clicked them al but it seems like there is something in the middle I have to unluck. Anyone? I miss 6 buttons because I tried to fix them but they are just broken.

  • my baby cousin puke on my keyboard. do you think i can still fix it?

  • is this the kav60 modle need to know for when im ordering a new keyboard if it will fit

  • YOU ARE AWESUM !! :)

  • Thanks so much. Really helpful. You've saved me a repair-man's cost. I'll have a drink to you with the saved money!

  • Just changed mine, thanks m8

  • thanks man - very helpful!

  • You saved me from paying a professional a hundred or so dollars...never knew it was this easy. Thanks so much!!!

  • great video, I have to say you are hot hot hot!! :) xx

  • how much do they cost on average?

  • This is a top video. PC World were talking a minimum of £80 for the keyboard, and £50 to install it! I brought the keyboard for £16 online, and followed the video. Worked first time. All well. Many thanks

  • how would you go about taking a key off and cleaning it?

  • Nice job - very helpful.

  • Thanks very much. It made changing my keyboard so easy. I really appreciate you taking the time to make this video and help all of us!! Cheers.

  • thanx mate---it is helpful

  • Thanks. Helped me "see" what I needed to do. Fixed my daughter's netbook right up.

  • clips just get back in their position... what should I do to make them stay up???

  • I probably would've fucked my laptop up if I didn't see this video. Thanks dude!

  • I have an Acer Aspire One A0250. There is only one tab above the F8 key and I used a small flathead screwdriver to push the tab into the netbook chassis. Keyboard popped right out. It took me a little while to figure it out, but it worked. Thanks so much for this video!

  • Thank you for this excellent video. I almost put apart all the back of the laptop looking for the keyboard conections. My keyboard had 4 notches instead of 3, but your video made possible to replace it, very easyly. I was about to dump it because Acer charged $200 to repair it. The keyboard failed since new and it got worse over time. (I will not buy Acer any more).

  • Good video fella... Well presented and put together..., very good...

  • Thanks a lot for that great tip! I realized i removed many screws for nothing lol

  • Aspire 6810t, Exactly the same except there are more clips on the top.

  • found this video on how to install my keyboard on the aspire 5742. same concept. very easy. thanks for the help.

  • my spacebar recently broke and someone from my sisters work told me to get the keyboard, and when it came in i was completely clueless till i found your video.

it took a bit for me to mov e the tabs was afraid to break it but after that it was a snap and as you can see it works great! so thankyou so very much for making this video.

  • where did u get the new keyboard

  • Does it work on acer aspire ZG5 N214???

  • thanks man that was helpfull

  • am i doing something wrong? i can't get any of them popping up at all...

  • can an acer aspire 4935g open the same way?

  • Dude, you Rock!! Thanks for taking the time. Mike.

  • worked nicely. i also had some problem with the farthest left clip, it wouldn't pop up. had to wedge two razor blades one against the upper edge and another against the keyboard. it never popped back but at least i could wedge out the replacement keyboard. that got bent up but who cares, i'm replacing it for a reason. thanks for posting. you saved me money i did not have to spend on repairs. $20 for a keyboard and 30 seconds of my time.

  • THANK YOU VERY VERY MUCH!!!!

  • THANK YOU VERY VERY MUCH!!!!

  • thank u very very very much

  • thanks there...just saved me a good few quid..got a second hand keyboard and replaced it myself

  • Thanks alot RandomAdventures

    great job man

  • possible to remove single key?

  • Thank you Random Adventures, but what if the little black piece on the connector came off? How it it secured there?

  • how much did the replacement keyboard cost?

  • ....I booted to a live Ubuntu CD and did not see the issues, so I am thinking that it could be a Vista issue. However, it is sporadic anyway, so who knows if that was an accurate test result.

I have a co-worker who also bought a 5920 on the same day as me and he is about to return his for the same reason.

Has anyone else seen this behavior or have any ideas on what I could try to do to correct it?

  • ...The most frustrating thing is that the issue is sporadic, so my driver re-installation and other fix attempts may seem like they work but, the next day, I have issues again. I have my keyboard repeat delay and repeat rate at shortest and fastest....

  • ....I tried to quantify the issue buy performing a test where I hit “f” or “s” twice and then . Then, seeing how many of the double letter strikes yielded only one on-screen character. Sometimes, I would be able to do 50 lines of “ff” without any issues. One time I did it and 30 out of 50 attempts yielded only one letter! Most times, I would say that 5% of double letter strikes failed....

  • Can you help me about this problem on my acer aspire 5920..

It seems that depressing a single key more than once in quick succession will often result in some of the characters failing to appear on the screen. It is incredibly frustrating when this issue occurs and you try to backspace to delete it and the backspace key fails repeatedly in the same way......

  • Hey what do i do if one of the black pins has gone in and will not come out?

  • You have to use something VERY thin. I used a dull pocket knife. Tried using a guitar pick and it broke. These tabs can be a real pain.

  • Yeah, that's what you want to do is use a razor blade to take out the keyboard. Never mind the fact that it will cut the plastic tabs or possibly severe a connection on the MB. Use a guitar pic. Some people don't think past their own face.

  • I was a dumbass and didn't realise that i had to pull the tabs for the keyboard and touchpad *up*, so i mostly broke both connectors pulling them straight out. I have them back on with electrical tape, but i have a feeling the touchpad connector will break loose again eventually :(

oh well, i think the aspire one series is shit anyway, big mp3 player. im gunna have to keep a cheap mouse with me in case my touchpad shits out.

  • thanx...

  • Nice one. You helped me get my keyboard changed over quick. Cheers.

  • haha i failed at doing mine, broke some of they keys.... i gotta be more careful nexttime

  • Thanks for the video. My AA1 had only one notch (between F7 and F8). Than you just kind of twist and move it.

  • If you spilled Pepsi on your keyboard as I have done, no manner of prying and pushing tabs will convince it to pop out. Mine was securely glued down. After breaking 3 razor blades and an exacto knife it became clear that salvaging the keyboard was no longer an option.

I would suggest either buying a replacement keyboard and not worrying so much about being kind during the removal, or not tipping pepsi onto your netbook to begin with.

Hows that for stating the obvious?

  • Thank you!

  • Hi Joe, extremely useful info. Used your training to change my Aspire 2920 keyboard, pretty similar to your Aspire One and it worked a treat. I'm not technical at all but this explanation was GREAT. Thanks

  • Brilliant demo!! Very, very helpfull!!...

  • oh great,I think when I push the F2,F8 and Pause and broke the thing holding keyboard,it's it ok??

  • nice one bro was able to change my aspire one 11.6 inch XD exactly the same way

  • after taking it out can you clean under the keys lets say for example someone spilled something sticky on the keys and they start to stick well after it has dried?

  • thanks!!!!

  • Thanks so much for creating this video. Without knowing this, I probably would have broke the keyboard and/or netbook, itself. Lol

  • Thanks for the great video. One question -- when I pushed the clips in, apparently I was too vigorous and two of them got stuck inside the computer. Any advice on getting them to pop back out?

  • Thank you so much! I spilled coffee on my keyboard and I thought I was going to buy a new acer. You saved me thanks

  • Dude, thanks for the 411. My keyboard was not typing on certain keys and I read through yahoo answers that I should take a look at your video for removal instructions. My Acer Aspire One is from 2009 and the keyboard only had one tab between the 7 and 8 key. Thanks.

  • @TheKenacious my own acer is having the same problem. Did u replace the keyboard or did you clean it out once u removed it?

  • thank you for the video it u taught me something

  • Wish I could find keyboard clips on my Aspire One A0751h netbook

  • my keyboard does NOT work on my acer aspire one. The battery seems to be fine because it lights up so is it the keyboard or hard drive?

  • Could this method be used for an Acer Aspire 5532? I cannot find anything about this models keyboard.

  • where do you buy the keyboard for an aspire one netbook?

  • THANK YOU. IT'S BEEN VERY GOOD.

  • Thank you! I couldn't find anything on how to replace my keyboard up until I stumbled over this. <3

  • 2 little notches: once thats done? once wht's done, what did you do wirth them? arghhh

  • Great video, thank you very much. I was able to change my keyboard in less than a minute. If it wasn't for the video, I would have probably taken half the notebook off.

  • thanx bro! i done it in a minute. now have to find new keyboard for replacement. thanx again!

  • You helped me a lot THX! :)

  • I tried to do the procedure, but I keep on popping off the Pause-Break key and the F2 key, I just give up, I cannot do it right.

  • @gccengineering1996 it takes getting them correctly. took a couple tries myself but i got it

  • Thanks man. I wish I had started by searching for this.

  • Thanks a lot! I was able to swap out the keyboard for Aspire 4810T after watching your video. It has 5 clips on the top instead of 3, but the procedure was the same.

  • Wow thanks so much. I have an Extensa laptop, but this video gives me a general idea.

  • Thank you sooo much for this video... really appreciate the info - and how to do it myself!

  • I got a used 4710 Aspire, the keyboard I had come off within the palmrest, then remove the flex cable, it was a PITA to the extreme, I needed to know the secret of getting that keyboard off. I will document on my channel

  • Wow! Thanks a lot for the vid!

  • i just have 1 sticky key on the keyboard, is there a solution to free it up?

  • Mine is the Acer Aspire One D250. It seemed to actually come out a little easier than this one even. There is only 1 moveable tab at the "north" of the keyboard (above F8). There are non-moveable tabs at the left and right, I just pryed the keyboard towards the center a little bit, and it popped right out! Thanks man.

  • Thank you! Thank you!

I'd have butchered my netbook trying to replace the keyboard if I hadn't run across this video...

  • system. Knackered the keyboard but thanks to this vid I got the gut to change out the board. I agree with Bgirl more like 45 sec!

Sorry for the two pasts my son decided to to bash the New keyboard and posted the comment :)

  • Thank you so much My father in law droped a glass of wine on my

  • Just replaced the keyboard in my laptop thanks to this video. But I did it in in under 45 sec not 30... I feel pretty invincible right now. Thank you!!!!

  • my backspace key and o key are dieing on me

well they work but not all the time

  • Ive been working on pushing back these clips for an hour. I hate your video and i hate you.

  • @dwerby007

There are about 4 microtabs on my Acer palmrest, it's a screwless affair, but do not press all the way down, there is part of the palmrest that the tabs slide on so it's a thin profile tab, near their surface is where you need to push, and the ones in front first, because there's tension there underneath the keyboard pushing up and causing a grounding. It will push the board up so you can lift it! Keep pulling gently

  • yes i am working for 20 minutes as wel and i broke the knife....fuck me

  • are all AOA150 models the same? i've been looking for a replacement for my AOA150-1786 model and there's none all over....well if you can help me out...this is a good vid btw...thanks

  • Thanks, I was nervous that I'd bust something off. Very helpful.

  • Would that replacing the keyboard were as easy as shown.. I tried it and couldn't release the clips.I called my local computer guru. It took him almost an hour,. Only because he knows computers was he able to do this. He asked that I be very careful in future about the keyboard. I had dropped a speaker and the backspace key came off and the little hook on the v frame broke.....

    Eileen Plunkett

  • man i have a problem i was cleaning the keyboard and the right clip for the keyboard went in "got stuck" now i only have 2 clips holding the keyboard...any help?

  • You can pop it back out with the razor blade. that happened when my guy was taking them out.

  • Same thing happened to me! This would be helpful.

  • Thank you! That was very good and instructional!

  • Is this a notebook laptop?

  • Thanks for the tips. Our computer was giving us keyboard trouble and your video helped us fix it! :)

  • I have the 6 cell also, it is a great,

to the owner of the video is your keyboard for sale ?

  • Ok wow that's for vid 5 star and Fav for when my replacement comes in..so pissed I'm playing gears and go to bathroom come back my fucking cat tore 2 keys off my keyboard and broke the fucking retainers that hold the keys in place first I called best buy the said 1 month repair haha fucking bullshit so I called gateway the actual maker and said 5 days to ship replacement keyboard.. so all day I was freaking out thinking is are they are sending are keys? And I found out its a whole keyboard so :)

  • That's the 6-cell battery isn't it? Did it come standard and is it therefore the 160GB model or 16GB SSD, or did you get it separately? And maybe most important: how long does the battery last and doesn't it protrude too far?

There aren't many videos on the 6-cell (models), so any info would be great! :)

  • great! can you show us how to take everything out and put in a touch screen?
