I love the Special Edition in some ways of course, the first was that I finally beat this game (I know I know, but it was hard as hell and my PC didn't run the old version anymore :P), and the soundtrack, there's that feeling of a amazing adventure starting and still sound like the original but with a nice extra touch, the guys who made the SE really did a well job "translating" the game, this is how you make a remake. :D

I just can't get over how they made Guybrush a poofy, floaty dandy. Compare the original cover to the new one-- they look NOTHING alike. The original Guybrush was an adventurous, meek, young teenager, which I think was a lot easier to relate to than Dominic Armato's zany and outlandish Guybrush. I will admit I found myself liking Telltale's Guybrush, but the character in Curse, Escape and SE will never be Guybrush to me.

I disagree. With Dominic as Guybrush in all the monkey island games now (since they redid 1 and 2), it brings Guybrush to life.

Plus they kept the same voice actor the whole time, something not many games have.

Only other games that I can say that for are the Mario games and Resident Evil's Claire Redfield being Allison Court every time including the Degeneration movie.

This music, to me, is just plain FUN. I hear this music and I think of a good time. It feels like adventure, it feels like a funny moment and it feels uplifting.

It's almost as if no-one who listens to it could be depressed, it certainly picks me up when I think of it.

Having been introduced at the start of the series I am glad they never changed it.

The series just wouldn't be the same without it.

I can't believe it. For most people, this game brings back childhood memories. "Monkey Island" is one of those games where the soundtrack to the original was so good yet so primitive, that if you enhanced it with actual instruments, it would sound just as good. I can't think of other games like that.

From a musical point of view, the flute playing is wrong, its playing it Stacatto, when the original is Legato, it really affects the tune, and not in a good way.

If your referring to the amount colors, The original used EGA which had a "whopping" 16 colors, which meant 4-bits of color lol. There was also a VGA/MCGA version that came out later on which had 256 colors(8-bit).

I your referring to the DOS executable I think it was 8-bit, but still possible that it could have been 16-bit

The graphical remake of Monkey island was good, but I had two quarrels:

1) What the hell was with Guybrush's hair?

2) The interface was a piece of crap. Having to open a menu, then your inventory, then selecting an object, open the inventory again, then selecting another object just to combine them was a pain in the ass.
